Looking to sell my Alienware M17x R3 to anyone interested. I recently just built a desktop and have no use for it anymore. The system is very clean and ready to go with Windows 7 installed to an SSD. The system has two HDD bays and one is occupied by the SSD while the other is empty and waiting for a new drive to be put in. The only negative thing I can say about the system is that the battery does not hold a charge for more then 35-45 min and has lost a lot of its capacity. This is not really a system to use unplugged, but if you were thinking about using this on-the-go a lot then I would purchase a new battery for the system. The system was used for gaming and light school work when we were using it. It could play most games on med-high settings, but you should know what you're buying. Any questions, feel free to PM me on CR. There is also going to be a CL for this as well. First come first serve. Price: $700 OBO. Feel free to make an offer, the worst i'll say is no http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8278 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8277 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8276 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8275 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8274 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=950&pictureid=8273 Specs: Windows 7 (Free Windows 10 upgrade ready) Intel Core i7 2760QM 2.4GHz Nvidia GTX 580m 1920x1080p Display 8 GB RAM 128gb SSD (Main OS) HDMI Input (Can plug an Xbox, PS4, ect. into the HDMI port and it will display on the laptop's display. Used this quite a few times, works flawlessly) Link to product review http://www.notebookreview.com/notebookreview/alienware-m17x-r3-review/

I really like the R9 380 so far. Its quiet, plays anything on 1080p @ 60+fps, and very stable overall. I paid a little extra for the 4gb version and I can see it helping in GTA V, Anno 2070, Grid, and Crysis. This is based of my old GPU which was a 7970m 2GB. IMO, coming from the 6950 you would be very happy with a 380 or a 380x if 1080p is your think. I know the 380 can do 1440p but I don't have a monitor with that resolution. My Alienware is going to go up on the Garage Sale section here soon. going to let is go for a bit less then its worth to anyone who is interested. M17x R4: 1920x1080p display AMD Radeon HD 7970M 2.6GHz Intel Core i7-3720QM CPU 8 GB RAM Blu-Ray drive HDMI input (Plug anything into the laptop display via HDMI) two HD bays

Thanks all, Budget was to keep it all under $1000... At checkout with tax it was $954. The MB was $120, but I picked it up for $40 after discounts. Without the Keyboard ($120) and copy of Windows ($100) it would have come to ~$730-750 Think the H55 would do the trick? or maybe a Kraken? awww yea! At checkout it was $954 (tax added)

It was a long time coming, but I am finally no longer a laptop user. I retired my Alienware M17x R4 and I Thought would share pics of my first major PC build with CR. Specs: FX-8350 4.0 Ghz Asus R9 380 Strix Edition 8GB Corsair Vengeance (1866) Fatal1ty 970 Performance Motherboard NZXT S340 Case Corsair CX600M Power Supply Windows 10 64-bit Monitor: LG E2241 21.5" + Dell 21.5" (Not Pictured) Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate Mouse: Razer Naga MMO Not the most epic build on the planet, but I am damn proud of how clean it turned out and the build looks better than I expected. only problem so far is the CPU fan is on full blast 24/7 and makes a good bit of noise. Temps are fine so liquid cooling will replace the noisy fan for sure.

Apparently the ‘Insane Mode’ got a 103 out of a possible 100. Time to save up and buy one? what does CR think of the "Insane Mode"? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-08-27/tesla-with-insane-mode-busts-curve-on-consumer-reports-ratings-idu1hfk0

Social Media - Cars and Coffee...or, "I'm feeling really old"
ShowHBK replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Passing Lane
ITT Old People... But seriously, I am going to take a very mature approach to this topic. YES! I think that it is unnecessary to take a few pictures of exotic cars on your shitty smartphone and slap them up on social media so some 13 year old kid and spank his meat to them and give you "likes" and "follows". I talk a serious effort to avoid people like that on social media because I personally feel like it devalues the car and the point of taking an image anyways. "Oh look, an Instagram account with 28,000 pictures of Lamborghini" *Yawn*... If you look at Wager's stuff he takes them time to tell you a story with his photography and really attempts to bring out the best in every shot he takes. I appreciate this a lot from an artistic point of view. There is a VERY fine line between a Facebook account which has a bunch of shitty cellphone images and a true professional's portfolio of images. Nothing will ever change this However, I do want to throw out one point just to play devil's advocate. Social media is EXPLODING whether you like it or not and many companies recognize this and take advantage of using things like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Many young people out there get interested in things or a topic based of social media because everyone of them has a smartphone and can use the platform. Because of this, many young people try to get followers based of their likes which can look tacky and down right stupid at times, but its just another way to meet link-minded people (I.E. Digital CC&C). I will say that NOTHING and I MEAN NOTHING beats meeting people in person or actually working on a car in person, but social media can be a very powerful platform when used correctly. Technically speaking... CR is a type of social media and we use it everyday. Though, I agree with Clay that sometimes... teens take things a little too far. -
Awesome buy man! Hope you have fun in that thing

I have done a few "casual" interviews in the past and this is what I wore. Button down dress shirt / Polo shirt white shirt underneath (no graphics or design) Jeans / khaki pants Belt (Dress belt, nothing with a huge buckle or design on it) Dress socks Dress shoes I also would go with that Harmonda said about "fitting in". Try and get a feel for who these people are, what they are looking for, and how they act. Going over the top sometimes can come off as a threat and they will instantly dislike you. At the same time, try and show confidence in yourself when answering any question even if you have to say "I don't know" because they will be able to smell a BS answer from a mile away. Best of luck in your interview

BBC World on XM this morning reported that the company was in the business of handling highly toxic materials and compounds. The new danger currently is if any of these toxic compounds were released into the air via this explosion and if they are currently spreading in the area. No other way to say it... This was a terrible incident.

Well, in theory you can do what I said earlier which was to use the guest account. Hide the desktop and create and event so that when the user logged on the VM would start up right away and a second event so that when the VM was "shut down" the system would log off. I guess many people will ask... Why are you booting into OS A and then trying to load OS B as a primary inside OS A. why not just load OS B from the beginning? If you have an SSD and enable AHCI for the Native Command Queuing then dual booting will not be an issue at all seeing as it should be really fast when switching. I enjoy the challenging aspect is the idea and I believe you can accomplish what you want, but it will take some work.

87GT - Based off that explanation, have you looked into the Multi-Desktop option in Windows 10? It should be a small icon that looks like this http://windowsinstructedmain.windowsinstructe.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/2015-06-13_23-10-54.png Down near your start button. From here you can create a new desktop and switch between them with Ctrl + Windows Key + (Right or left). Windows key + Tab also works just as nice. I currently use this to switch between my main two displays of gaming and netflix to my other two displays of Por--...err.... Research. In your case, you could always have your VM running on another desktop and quickly switch to the VM with the hot keys. This way, its out of your way when you don't need it and there when you want it.

It's not like that at all. Some people are generally interested in modifying their computer or operating system just as one would modify his/her car. It's not about asking "why?" more like asking "why not?" that... or... He is hiding his porn... take your pick.

So you want Account #1 to run Windows 10, click "switch users", then have Account #2 log in using a VM/another OS? I know it is possible to do this but you would need to do some HEAVY and I mean HEAVY modifications to the users account. What you would need to do is the following: 1. Create the second user account 2. Deny all privileges to "explore" the C: Drive on user #2's account 3. Hide the desktop, start bar, and disable "right click" on the desktop 4. Run a script or event so that when the second user logs onto Windows, the VM software would boot up and run Windows 7 inside the VM in full screen 5. Deny all user control of the VM options menu other than to "power down" the VM 6. Create an event so that when the VM shuts down or terminates for any reason Windows 10 will log the user out and return to the main users page Can this be done? YES! Do I have any idea how to do all of this? Nope, not a clue. In all honesty even if you could do all this, it would take so much time and effort to customize. I am sure you have your reasons for wanting a guest OS, but this is REALLY going to be complicated for you to pull off in the way you are describing. My guess is that Windows Server could in fact do exactly what you want because I know multiple instances of Windows sessions can run on Windows Server, but I would have no idea how to configure or confirm and features. I run a small Dell 1850 Blade running Windows Server 2012 for a Minecraft server and a small bit of network storage but I have never done VM inside Windows Server.
