I was thinking down the vacuum leak course, also. Those cars have what, 30 freakin vacuum lines under the hood? I'd start the biggest and closest ones to the intake. That is, if you have also checked the screws in the carb.

Found this - "The engine is in the car sideways, so you will want to look under the vehicle and to the left side of the engine compartment. The oil pan is directly behind the pulley/belts on that side. The drain plug itself is the nut on the backside of the pan (towards the rear of the car). Hope this helps, happy searching." -

You will get hundreds of these damn things in the future. From appliances, to car warranties, to (fill-in-the-balnk) insurance. I've never fallen for any of them, and have no regrets so far. Edit- and as far as washer and dryer longevity - I bought my set in 1999... cheapest Lowes had. Still using them today.
