If there is a thread on this elsewhere, I apologize for the duplicate post. As you may have read, there is a proposal to turn the old Cooper Stadium site into a regional motorsports and automotive technology complex. Read about it here: http://tinyurl.com/yzewvl8 As is typically the case, there is opposition to this development, primarily on the basis of noise concerns, particularly given the site's urban location. There have been studies completed and methods proposed to address this concern that can be accessed via the site above. Your support of this effort is critical to its success. Please sign the following online petition to show your support: http://tinyurl.com/yjpvlry If you want to attend some of the public meetings, there is a lot of chat to coordinate this on the OVR SCCA site: http://forum.ovr-scca.org/index.php?board=2.0 Finally, be sure to put it on your FB and Twitter. Just copy and paste: Support the Cooper Park Motorsports Complex proposal. Info: http://tinyurl.com/yzewvl8. Sign the petition: http://tinyurl.com/yjpvlry Thanks! Rich

My folks will be selling their condo as they are getting ready to move into a retirement community. I will have full details later as well as pictures. Here are some highlights: •Very nice, quiet development (Brittany Oaks) that is exceptionally well taken care of. •Bounded on north by ravine / creek, east by a two lane road with a nice subdivision across from it, south by Roberts Rd (about 70 ft green space), and west by a nature preserve. •Ranch style condo with about 1000 or so square feet of living space. Two bedroom, two full baths. •Larger than normal two car garage. I have not measured, but estimate it to be at least 22 feet deep, about 20 ft wide. •Garage attic accessible via folding steps. •Condo has nice club house and swimming pool. •Hilliard schools, Columbus taxes. Not sure of selling price yet, but units in this area are going for $90k (short sale) to $115k or so. I would like to move this quick given the 1st time homebuyer credit expires at the end of April. Listed at $104,900 / negotiable. Good for first time buyer, somebody downsizing, or parents looking to get their kids out of the house! I will get pictures up as soon as I can. Rich PM or email me. Thanks!

I might suggest you duct the front brakes. Certainly the better pads, rotors, and springs will help, but you will be going that much faster and using the brakes that much harder.

A bit less squared off than the current one.

Agreed on the track time. At the driver's schools, you usually get plenty of track time so you might want to check out one of those. Keep an eye on the schedules as several of us on here autocross and I am sure would be happy to put you in the passeger's seat. Rich

Clean MR2 and nice intro. Also be sure to check out autocrossing with SCCA or the other clubs around. http://www.ovr-scca.org/ http://www.noraracing.net/ http://sites.google.com/site/mvscctest/ Rich

This is intriguing. I think I saw this car at Mid Ohio somewhere during the years. I remember a Colt with a wild paint job like this.

Only a few things that you need to think about when taking a job and starting a career: 1) Look at your self and your interests and aptitudes. Do something you find interesting and challenging. If it makes the world a better place, you get bonus points. 2) Find out where the money comes from that pays your salary, and how what you do impacts that. The closer you are to generating revenue, the more secure you are (assuming you are good at what you do!). 3) Look at the trends and environmental factors that impact the industry you are looking at, and the risks and opportunities present. Is the industry growing or shrinking? Consider these things when looking at potential jobs. Don't just look at today, but think about 5, 10, and even 20 years down the road. WHat will the job you do today look like?

The marque clubs in general tend to be more about the car and less about the competition. Like anything, there's pro's and con's with each. Every so often I like to do a marque club event as they generally are much more laid back and as pointed out you tend to get more runs. There are numerous non-SCCA clubs within a couple hours of central OH that put on events. You should be able to Google and find most of these: - Buckeye Miata Club - Mid-Ohio Sports Car Club - Northern Ohio Racing Association - Miami Valley Sports Car Club - Mid Ohio Region Porsche Club of America There are probably some more. I also went to numerous events with the Northwest Ohio Region SCCA as they have a couple of really excellent sites and some 'shoes that run in my class. It's about 110 minutes from my house in Hilliard, towing the trailer.

I also worked as a Pit Marshall in 1985 and 1986. It was a great thing for the city, and as far as street courses go, it wasn't too bad. The pit arrangement was a disaster though.

I do a seasonal air change in my tires (http://tinyurl.com/25u6b5) and change my blinker fluid (http://tinyurl.com/yzhk3mp).

Feff, My info is a bit dated. Of course, I still have a right to an opinion! Both Blackhawk and Nelson are similar in that they are definitely "club" tracks. Narrow, marginal facilities, etc. I have not been to Blackhawk in many years but when I was there in the mid-90's it was WAY better than Nelson from a facilities and track surface perspective. However, from a driving perspective, Nelson is WAY better, more interesting and challenging. Looking at my old race results, it is faster than BHF also. From a track design perspective, BHF is a killer on brakes whereas Nelson is easy on brakes. At Nelson, there is only one place where really hard braking is required. From a "what happens if I do something stupid" perspective, both are about the same. Off course at Nelson is very bumpy and prone to rollovers at many places, whereas at BHF you simply run into trees. Different risks, but the end result is the same. I ran SSB and IT cars at both tracks back in the day.

In our family, we used to have a gift exchange, seven of us kids and Mom and Dad. We would draw names at Thanksgiving, keep them secret, and then exchange the gifts Christmas morning. One year, my Dad had my sister's name and forgot to buy her a present. Plain out forgot. The look on her face was priceless when we all realized everyone got a gift except her. After that, whenever we picked names, we would all say "I hope Dad doesn't get my name!". We don't exchange now, but we still won't let Dad forget.

Slightly O-T, but I prefer insurance purchased through an independent agent (ex: Motorists, State Farm) vs. a company owned agency force as my experience has been that the independent agent works harder for your interests and provides better service. The independent agent is 100% dependent upon retaining you as his customer in order to maintain his / her income, and will work hard to do it even when the insurance company is being difficult. I am very happy with my agent, Dunlap-Hayes in West Jefferson.

It's time. - Right front "frame rail". This is the reinforced box member of the unibody that goes from the firewall to the front. The front motor mounts, control arm, etc. mount to it. It is a NEW Mazda factory part. If your car has been crashed or tweaked, you need this. $40 - Front windshield. Used. Good for race car. $40 - Patch panels for left and right rear wheel wells. These were cut off a rust free car that was junked. $40 for the pair. - Front steel brake lines. Two. I think they are for the LF wheel. They go from the Master Cylinder to the front wheel well. $20 for the pair. - 1982 manual transmission. Condition unknown. Was a spare for my race car. $50. - Rear hatch window. FREE. - Three row radiator. Needs cleaned and mounts brazed back on. $50. - Box of carb parts. New. Gaskets, floats, etc. $10 $125 takes it all. Will not ship. Located in Hilliard OH. PM or email me, or call the number in the OVR Roster. Rich

+1.

How original is the car? I can see the wheels have been swapped, but what about other components?

What a great photo!

When I raced SCCA Showroom Stock, I had them do a couple valve jobs for me on short notice. They did nice work and were easy to deal with.

Matt, Welcome to the site. I had a 1979 X-1/9 I bought new at Segna and it was my first autocross car. Great cars. I continually keep my eye open for a 1.5L FI car. One of these days I will make it over to your shop. Nice swap with the RSX motor. How much weight did it add? I assume you are doing the Runoffs this year? Rich

Very nice. I hope this goes to a good home.
