My efforts are going no where. Lock this thread. Sorry for the bother on this folks.

Thanks for the replies. His Dad is being kind of stubborn - he wants his son to buy a Corolla, Civic, or similar, less than 125,000 miles, no rust or significant repairs or maintenance needed, less than $3250. I told him he would have better luck finding a unicorn. There are plenty of good Corolla's and Civic's in that price range but he's not going to find one with those miles.

My nephew is looking for a car for under $3250. Strong preference for: - Honda Civic - Toyota Corolla / Geo Prizm Car should be in overall good shape, not a rustbucket, and relatively low miles (< 150k). Let me know and I will help make the connection. Thanks. Rich

Not sure there's interest here, but thought I might try. After having my CRX for two years and not doing a damn thing with it, it's time to let it go. Autocross is keeping Kathy and me busy, and we are both busy with aging parents and launching my new business. All this makes it improbable I will be able to spend time on this car any time soon. 1990 CRX Si This car would be an easy conversion as is to E/Prepared autocross, or with an engine swap, G/Prepared. The car is a very clean and solid CRX from the south. Highlights include: - Clean, straight tub. Virtually the entire car was powder coated when built. - Very, very nice cage - Race dash, lexan side and rear windows - Aeroquip all over - Fire system, fuel cell, etc - Zdyne engine management. - DC sports clone header. - Quaife LSD. Supposed to have a different final drive but I have not checked. - Koni SPSS shocks, GC sleeves, Energy Suspension bushings. - Numerous spares. - Spare F-Prepared race prepped engine. Supposed to be a $10k engine when built, but the engine blew up and the block has hole in it! CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. This is not a beat up or ugly car at all, and was a fairly fresh build when I bought it. It has been raced a handful of times. The only dent is in the RF fender where a ladder in my garage fell into it. To get it on track, it needs gone through, and new belts and window net. The usual stuff a car needs when its been sitting. To make it a national LP FP car, a strong engine, suspension work, and re-do some things I just don't like. Right now it has an IT suspension, and a stock engine with a cam. My plan was to make it a national car as most all of the really hard fab stuff was done. Alas, those plans need to be set aside for now. Car is located in central Ohio, and am willing to help with transport. Not sure of price yet, but I will throw out $5,000 as a number to start with. Might consider selling it as a roller without the engine and transmission. Open to street & race trades up or down, and the following specific items of interest (in no particular order): - 1999 Miata Sport - Race ready EF / EG Civic or EF CRX - Interesting street cars. Got a thing for wagons and vintage Japanese cars, but open to most anything interesting. - Low mileage, rust free 1st gen or 2nd gen RX7's - Open race car trailer - Sport touring motorcycles (ST1100, ST1300, Concours, etc.) - Vintage (pre-1980) Honda CB series motorcycles - Maybe a Valkyrie or other interesting bikes. - High end acoustic guitars. Basically, for trades I am open to something ready to use now. An older crappy photo. Better photos to come soon: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/1989%20CRX%20SCCA%20F-Prod/CRX.jpg PM or email. Rich

Jerry's going to get rid of both and get a sweet mini van.

I saw this on one of the automotive sites. Nice and congratulations to MSR!

I have a 2005 Suburban 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive, 5.3l. Purchased used with 49k on the clock and now has 149k. Drove it for 2 years as a DD, and since then has been used almost solely as a tow vehicle. Had a transmission replacement at 60k miles. Other than that, gas, tires, brakes, and oil. Reasonably comfortable, has seen hard use, always parked outside, and still looks good and drives well. It would be tough for me to recommend something else given the good service we've gotten out of this.

This is a good price on a well prepped and cared for car.
-
All the EF Hondas had the AC button in the dash so it is a bit misleading.
-
"Two-55 A/C" = Two windows down, 55 mph. Must be an old guy saying. There is no A/C.

Hit me up. 6 fourteen 5 sixty one 3 fortyone 2.

Not interested in an Astro, thanks. This is a gas sipper for sure. BTW, we just put a new Master Cylinder on it last night and flushed the brake lines. The old one was leaking.

SOLD! 1990 (or 1991) Honda Civic Hatch. ^Base model, with a 5 speed swap. ^This is son Andrew's car as he is getting a new one shortly. ^I just can't remember the year. This is the econo version and gets about 35 MPG around town. ^Car looks good and drives fine. It's gone to Cinci and back, and Cleveland and back multiple times. Son has had it for 2 years / 30,000 miles, and it has never left him stranded - except when distributor went out. Engine (D15B1) is strong although at 70 HP, you aren't going to get any speeding tickets. This is not the original engine; the original was swapped out prior to my purchase, and supposedly this one has "only" 120,000 or so on it. I put a reman cylinder head on it, along with new gaskets, new distributor, new timing belt and water pump, etc. Suspension is good - Koni reds and Eibach Sportline springs give it good street handling. Wheels are 14" Accord alloys with excellent tires. No sway bars (the base didn't have any) though I have stock Si front and rear bars we can throw in if interested. Interior good condition except for drivers seat which is ripped and has a cover on it. Has AM / FM / CD player. Gas gauge doesn't work - its in the wiring as I put a new sender in it. Manual trans, steering, brakes, windows, mirrors, locks, etc. ^Heater works fine: "Two-55" A/C. We bought the car due to its solid body. It had terrible paint on it so we did a cheap prep and paint job on it. Another member of this board and I sanded the body, so I blame him for all imperfections. Maaco did the paint. Overall it looks nice - about a 5 footer - and you wouldn't be ashamed to park it in front of your house. ^With the new paint, tinted windows, alloys, and lowered stance, it looks good without being ricey. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/1991%20Civic%20Hatch/CivicAfterPaint.jpg Has three small rust spots, two in the usual spot on the trailing side of the rear wheel wells, and one hole in the drivers side rocker panel, in front of the rear wheel. ^All lift points are solid, so these rust spots are truly superficial. Things wrong: aforementioned gas gauge, valve cover gasket leaks (will replace prior to purchase), slight exhaust leak between exhaust manifold and down pipe, maybe a couple other minor things I forgot about. ^Car occasionally drops to low RPM at idle at stop - given the new distributor, there must be a sensor issue somewhere (no CEL's). Things right: dead reliable, looks good, drives good, cheap to run and own, good tires, newer brakes, newer battery. There are a ton of photos at the following link, from when we got it until now. http://s145.photobucket.com/user/31rx7/library/1991%20Civic%20Hatch This would be a great platform for an ITB / ITC car. I would keep it for myself as a spare if I had a place to keep it. Also open to offers and interesting trades. Rich

I recently upgraded my trailer to 5200 lb. axles due to the weight I carry. I have for sale the old axles. These were from a Pace Pursuit enclosed car hauler. Two (2) Dexter Tor-Flex EZ-Lube Trailer axles. 3500 lb. Complete with integrated torsion bars, drums, hubs, brakes, bearings, etc. These are top quality axles ideal for use if building your own trailer. There's a tag on the axles that reads: Dexter Axle P-12 Model SLR SN D7639320 New these are $1400 per pair or so. I also have spare bearings and a spare hub / drum assembly that go with it. Open to offers. Really flexible on price. Trades for the usual stuff that interests me: '70's vintage receivers and turntables, guitars, Honda stuff, Huh These are taking up space. Call at 614-561-3412. Rich

Some of you know that SCCA finally got access to the large concrete pad at Wilmington. I went to the August 3 -4 National Tour event, and have to say it was the most awesome piece of concrete that I've had the pleasure of competing on.

Part of this event will be a pilot an autocross program for Veteran Motorsports (VETM). I am the 4 Wheel Program Coordinator, and we are hosting 8 veterans as drivers. I have Craig from this board and a number of others helping as Coaches to the VETM drivers, and it promises to be a great experience for the Veterans. https://www.facebook.com/events/337381846390073/ Stop by to spectate - no charge.

We used to live there. Nice area, and easy access to downtown, UA, Hilliard, Grandview, etc.

Yes, noises from the front can sound like they are coming from one side, but in fact are coming from the other. A clicking sound is almost certainly the axle / CV joints. Check for play in the bearings.

This is a deal on this truck. Have seen it and it is solid.

Awesome. Good for you. This will pay off in so many ways that you can't envision that you will be surprised. -
GONE.

I've had similar good luck with Honda's, and find Toyota or Honda is more a matter of preference. Either way, she should be able to get a decent one in that price range.
