  1. Sounds like a track item, lighter than steel when it counts but not as durable. On a track bike you might change them every race depending on the course.

Perhaps this is a case where racing parts are not the thing to use on the street.

no. my driven sprocket is also a aluminum sprocket like 99% of aftermarket sprockets.

the difference is how they harden them and how long they last.

my friend had a afam sprocket last well beyond 12k miles.

    mine has about 8k.

my brother had about 500. I don't think it was properly hardened.

I think driven (mine) final hardens theirs by anodizing it. and it seems to be working perfectly.

  2. ok honestly while at work you shouldn't be on a internet forum.

what the fuck is wrong with people these days playing around while at work and not working?

    that's not the american way.

(partial sarcasm for our conservative members, because you don't know the meaning of the word hypocrites)

  3. And what tires might those be?

    pp 2ct= bridgestone bt-016($239 shipped)(cyclesector.com)

    power one 2ct = bt-002rs or bt-003rs($239 shipped also from cyclesector.com)

if you live in cincinnati sporttour in sharonville sells them for the same price as cyclesector.com but you have to pay tax. which is about $15.

  4. Wow.. yeah. I'm completely distraught because we didn't get McCain. It has nothing to do with 'sour grapes' but rather an historical account that government intervention doesn't stimulate an economy. It chokes it. Here's an article from 'Forbes'' date=' but I'm sure these guys are idiots, too.

    [url']http://www.forbes.com/2008/02/14/yaron-economy-regulation-oped-cx_ybr_0214yaron.html

so you don't remember anything from history class about the great depression? how the government spending money that pretty much single handedly stopped it.

no, I'm not making this up off the top of my head either.

you guys watch fox news and listen to rush limbaugh too much.

  5. the sad thing is it's gonna hurt the poor anyway, they can't afford a new car and they won't be able to afford the parts now because there will be fewer parts out there... this program is about freaking stupid!!!

have you been to a junk yard lately? they look up the prices on a computer that gives them the national average going price for parts.

it's not like the old days when the guy that works there just throws out a price off the top of his head.

I went to one and they wanted $150 for a egr valve. a brand new one is $200.

so there went your theory of affording parts from even a junkyard.

try bitching to the parts industry that has a 500% markup on parts. but wait, I'm sure you are on their side because after all this is a free market....

  6. ferodo xrac or stac pads are the best there is. I've rode a few different bikes with EBC HH and Galfer sintered and my bike with Ferodo ST (sintered road) and they have a noticeable higher level of grip.

the xrac pads are for 50% track 50% road use. ( engineered in conjunction with honda and yamaha world supersport race teams).

the STAC(same as mine but with the holes drilled in them) are the sinter grip pads with array cooling holes. they are 75% road and 25% tack use.

they cost more than standard organic pads but when you consider they last 3Xs longer it's actually cheaper in the long run. and have a much higher level of performance it makes it a no brainer.

of course if you like a good set of brakes that is.

if not go with what everyone else uses galfer and ebc.

a tid bit of info about Ferodo's brakes.

  7. I'm not a tremendous fan.... I think it's a little to gaudy. It's nice for sure, but I would expect a lot more in the sleek department of ducati. This looks like something kawi would throw up. Not something ducati would masterfully design. But that's me?

I think that Nicky hayden had a say in the looks since it's a nicky hayden edition.

  8. Just look at the tread. All of the tread blocks should be even. On my original dunlops's it wasn't all that obvious, I actually could see it better from the side, yet still slightly above the tire. Hard to explain! lol

The tire is not the only thing that will cause this, of course. This is just what it happened to be on my bike. With the lower mileage you have on your bike, I would doubt it's anything else.

tires get like that from a improperly setup suspension. honestly. that's the god honest truth.

in the sportbike world we have adjustable suspensions. guys will set them up so it "feels" right to them but the tires will wear something awful. that's because they have it set up all wrong.

without being able to adjust the suspension, you are going to be stuck with that type of a problem for the most part.

depending which edge of the tread is raised tells you if it's too much rebound dampening or not enough.

suspension is almost all rebound control. that's the most important.

a lot of guy like to blame it on under inflation etc. but they are wrong. some of it might be. but it's almost always a rebound problem.

about the moving of the bars, I would look into balancing the tire first.

  9. Not to fan the flames, but wanna run a GSXR1000 title for title? I can use a bike to generate money...:) After all, shoould be easy, right? You have 1300 cc's and I only have 1000. Of course, that whole power to weight ratio is a bitch at times, no?

You guys and your "I'm better than you" BS... I can find a guy to ride a Busa and blow Serpent's ass out of the water. I can also find a guy who can take an old R6 and blow Sambusa's ass out of the water...

There's exception to every rule on about every level. Get over yourselves. Neither is as good as you think you are and there is ALWAYS someone with a higher level of ability than you. Always.

Now, quit the pissing contest and just fuckin' ride for Pete's sake. Jesus...

I'm not talking about the rider, jesus get over yourself. I'm just stating it's easier to ride a small bike faster even if it has a lot less hp.
