  1. I still have and use a Nelson-Rigg cover I bought in 2003. however it's only used for the track or if I am painting in the garage I park the bike in the driveway and cover it so it doesn't get overspray. but I have used it probably 80 times. and I did leave it on my R6 when I first bought the cover for about 3 months outside.
  2. woolich racing is a company that makes flashing kits for your ecu. much like FTECU. I bought $1253 worth of it. I have the onboard flash cable, logging device, quickshifter with autoblipper, and the zietronix wideband O2 sensor setup for auto tuning. basically everything they offer for the R1 except the pit lane limiter button for the handle bar. I don't have a problem with their system as it works as intended even though it has a few quirks. I do have a problem with how they don't tell you if you don't flash your bike often (every 3 months) they deactivate your account and you have to open a support ticket and wait days for someone to re-activate it. I spent a lot of money on this system, I should be able to use it whenever I feel like it. it's as if my purchase is always being held hostage. what happens if WR goes out of business and my account is dead? I means I can't log into the software and I own $1253 worth of paper weights. there is only 1 guy responding to help tickets apparently. he is a nice guy and all but the company's policy is complete bullshit. I don't feel this is legal in any way so I sent a complaint to the Ohio AG. we will see how it goes. so if you're looking at buying one of these systems just beware that this is how woolich racing conducts business after your purchase, you don't technically own it. I would only recommend FTECU instead after having to deal with this. if there is any of you guys with issues with FTECU or Woolich please share. I'm not purchasing systems from companies with this kind of policy ever again.
  3. sounds like their waverunner engines. some of them come supercharged. bike engines dont have shit on those things. rated at 250hp
  4. In my opinion it's better safe than sorry. I broke my R6 in per the manual. When I sold it with 50k street miles and maybe 400 track miles on the engine the thing was still pulling hard and didn't use any oil. Not an oz of oil. Didn't smoke, didn't make noises. That was in 2014. The person that bought it is still riding it with over 70k miles
  5. Looks like rainX developed a plastic version for helmets etc. Anyone try it yet? I'm hesitant to try it on a $70 shoei shield. Need more reviews lol https://www.rainx.com/product/plastic-water-repellent/rain-x-plastic-water-repellent/#.XNvsircpA0M
  6. this is old but this sort of thing is exactly what JB weld works good for. seriously. I worked at a mold making shop and we would often fix nicks and scratches in molds of fiberglass and metal with it. we also attached locator pins with it too. you always need to scuff anything you want to stick together for a mechanical bond.
  7. this reminds me that I saw a brand new chevy impala still had the wrap on the bumpers smoking out of the tail pipe as the guy was driving it down the expressway. lol pile of junk!
  8. yeah, IF is the problem. lol. hey I noticed Lowe's sells all those special hose clamps all the manufactures use on our bikes now. they also had the crimp tool for them. they keep it all back in the plumbing isle. but I have no idea if the clamps diameters would work on most bikes.
  9. I've seen many a wires cut by zip ties being on too tight. but like reconRat says, that bolt is probably the source of heat that melted the jacket on the other wire. when I worked at the dealership often recalls involved wrapping rubber sheets/ jackets around spots suspected of cutting wiring.
  10. Read the reviews on that HF she'd though. The wind folds those up with ease and the cover material is easily torn by light winds. Look on Alibaba. There are motorcycle sheds on there that look like they are decent. I've seen some that will sell just 1. https://m.alibaba.com/product/60068239852/Folding-waterproof-fire-prevention-Motorcycle-tent.html?s=p&spm=a2706.wap_new_search.1998817009.37.57eb284fmtdbof
  11. I will try one. But the 3m mounting tape is removable. Use a old gift card etc. I had the helmet mount on my tank because the suction cup won't work anywhere. I found a nice accessories kit for $20 at microcenter. But so far none of it is of much use. The holder I was using needs to be 3 inches taller. I did mount it on the front of the bike but it gets hit with bugs and ruins the video haha
  12. I don't like it either. I can't seem to find a good spot on this bike. No flat panels anywhere.
  13. all the good roads are down here in the south. this for hours....
  14. ehh just god doing what god does to molesters.
  15. cant wait to see pics of it laying on it's side getting a rear tire change.
  16. what got me even looking into their value is that story a few months ago about the 1943 copper penny being worth $1.7M. I have a big can of old pennies too. and a bunch of 1943 but you can tell they're not copper but all of my 1942 and 1944 pennies are. strike 2! LOL https://www.foxnews.com/science/holy-grail-found-rare-penny-might-be-worth-1-7m-after-it-was-found-in-boys-lunch-money
  17. in case the above link changes over time, https://www.motorcycle.ohio.gov/
  18. old thread but I just wanted to add my 2cents. I would recommend the motorcycle ohio classes over MSF all day. for one they're the same thing but far less expensive. offered in way more locations and easier to get enrolled due to how many places have the classes. https://services.dps.ohio.gov/MotorCycleOhioTraining/student/Home
  19. I recently inherited a few silver dollar coins from the mid 1800's. having a look at a few websites I have almost worthless coins. their value is $12. but get this, melted down they're worth $24. lol there are a few editions of the same years but with different mint marks that are worth $400-500 and one so rare worth $20k. of course I have the $12 ones haha.
  20. all I see are republicans like dewine raising gas tax.
  21. I love $3 gas again. thanks trump
  22. invest in tasty waffles. with lots of maple syrup. honestly though, is investing really worth it to the average person? I mean you literally have to do $20k to make a few hundred a year. you can do a lot of other things to make money faster and in greater amounts.
  23. honda wires up stuff really strange from the few I've worked on. the brake light circuit on this 05 rebel my buddy bought is wired through all kinds of shit that doesn't do anything with the brake light. they have some crazy electrical engineers.

    Gloves

a lot of alpinestar gloves blow out stitching. theyre terrible gloves from what I've seen posted online. save up for held gloves. once you put these on you will know why you spent the money. it's too bad teknic went out of business. they made really nice gloves. I still use a pair from 2005. I have newer gloves but these just wont die. they're roo palms and the tactile feel with them is fantastic.
