yup they make a sick setup.. the guy i ordered my Ohlins shocks from is in the process of developing a cartridge kit for the harley touring bikes with Ohlins. that would be sooo fucking sweet, only problem is its gonna be upwards of $2000

stock shocks are horrid, bottom them out all the time, especially 2 up.. if you crank the air up to increase the preload on the shock, then the initial ride is way harsh, but atleast it wouldnt bottom the shock out. Progressive shocks, the shock was so stiff without even adjusting the preload it was insane. i i sat on it, and the bike wouldnt sag at all, put my wife on it, and it barely sagged. now it was decent for the bumps in the road, but still really stiff, and it just felt like the tire wasnt keeping contact with the road like it should. both of those shocks above do not have any compression or rebound adjustment. whats there is whats there. well to get a good ride, and a well handling bike you need to have control of the compression and rebound. and you also need a spring that is setup for your bike and your carrying weight. put it this way the progressive shock, it uses a certain spring with a certain weight. FOR EVERYONE.. that means it doesnt matter if you weight 140lbs, or if you are 300lbs.. or if you are 300lbs and have a passenger with you of 200 lbs that spring is supposed to support the weight of everyone.. the spring is only to overcome gravity. thats why you really need a shock setup up to fit you and your needs. as for the fronts, i have been there done that, i ran heavy oil, i changed out the springs for progressive rate springs, i have changed the damper tube out to help slow the oil flow. but truth is the damper rod technology is old and really innefective (its a cost effective way to build a fork) i now how moved up to the Progressive Mono tube Cartridge kit which is a gas charged type cartridge system that completely replaces the internals of the forks. this should be a drastic improvement over the stock style setup. but if they dont cut the mustard, i guess ill have to drop the big bucks on the Traxxion setup, its fully adjustable and should work exactly like i want.. im just a little put off at throwing $1200 in my forks at the moment. for the typical harley rider, the stock suspension probably wouldnt bother them. but i ride my bike, alot, and pretty aggressively. so i want stability and control in the bike. alot of people spend thousands in chrome, i spend thousands to make my bike perform better and suit my needs

well after running stock shitty shocks, then going to a 1" lowered shock, then to a set of Progressive 940 Ultra touring shocks (very dissatisfied in the shocks for what i paid) i said screw it and ordered the ultimate in shocks for my bagger. i got a set of hand built Ohlins built for my bike. they were built to suit my bike, my riding style, and the weight ill be carrying. they are a threaded body, rebound and compression adjustable. im excited to get them on and finally get what i wanted out of a set of shocks. ill have a full report on them after i get them installed and get some test riding in. only bad thing i see coming out of this is me wanting to upgrade my front forks from the Progressive monotubes i just bought (non adjustable) to a set of Taxxion dynamics AK-20 fully adjustable fork cartridges

if anyone has a touring harley, or knows someone with one i highly highly recommend you check glide-pro.com out. it is a stabalizing kit for the touring bikes. it replaces the swing arm bolt, the bushings, and the front motor mount. my bike just didnt feel solid and had a shake, wobble to it. this kit was the answer. give Jake the owner, inventor, builder a call. He is stand up guy, he will walk you through some things to check on your touring harley even before mentioning his products. he doesnt believe in selling you something you dont want / need. after staying on the phone with me to walk me through a check list, he then told me all about his product, and how it all began. he isnt in it to make money, and started out by devloping something for himself and anyone who rode his bike loved the way it felt so much, they wanted it done to theres. so it grew from there. i ordered one of his kits, and he told me 100 times before i got off the phone if i needed any help with install there are videos on his site, plus the instructions, and if i needed more to call him and he would help anyway he could. he also said if i need help with any of the suspension stuff i was gonna install (that i didnt even buy from him) he could walk me through that. after getting his kit on my bike, i am just dumbfounded. blown away at the difference. its not even close to what it was. the bike is just solid now, and i now have full confidence in the bike when i throw it into a corner. hell even just rolling down the highway there is a huge difference. i couldnt be happier, its the best money i have spent on harley bar none. i know alot of people dont have harleys here, but maybe there is someone you know who does. its the best mod you could ever do to a touring harley A+++++ for Jake and Glide-pro.com

i like those. needs more ape though lol good luck with the sale

awesome! i started in on the same project, was building it for the wife, then she decided she didnt want to be a rider, jsut wanted to be a passenger. i did the f2 front end as well you have to get the wheel machined down some, and change out bearings and what not... but it would be worth it to get a wider wheel / tire combo under it. looking good so far though and you can get a f2 rear wheel on there too!

my buddy had one it has the vtx1300 motor even though its got a good stretch and rake it still handles well with that big rear tire and 21 front and its not terrible uncomfortable, as you would expect though, since honda doesnt generally put the rider in discomfort. the aftermarket is huge for them now you can get about 100 miles to a tank in stock form.. with pipes,, tuner and stuff youll get around 80 - 90 in my opinion the rear needs lowered right out of the gate.. it just has to much fender gap. my buddy lowered his and it made a world of difference in look. he eventually went back to stock height though to ride a passenger. here is a video of his fury with a 250 wide tire kit i did http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rIXyASO74c -
