how long do you leave it on the choke when you start it? You may have fouled the plugs. Please elaborate on how you use the choke on the bike.

I freakin hate geese. One time I was riding at twighlight on a near empty country road enjoying the scenery. I was wearing a jacket and helmet as usual. Out of nowhere a June bug hit me in the one unprotected area...my throat. Hit me hard enough in the adams apple to make me gag and almost fall off my bike. I had a close call one windy day a while back. While riding over the bridges heading 270 South at easton (right past Kelly BMW). I was in the center lane passing a Honda minivan which was going slow in the left lane. I was at about the rear quarter of the minivan when a big side wind gust brought a bird about the size of a large seagull slamming into the side of the minivan. There was bird s*%t and blood flying everywhere, and I had to duck to avoid the flailing body as it bounced off the side of the van. I was scared as hell in the moment, but couldn't stop laughing afterward.

CBS article on MOTOGP this summer in the states...
Smokey replied to NinjaNick's topic in Daily Ride
good race. It's good to see Hopkins finally have a somewhat competitive bike. I think he has a lot of talent, but just hasn't had a break before. I liked the detail that Kevin brought to the broadcast, even if it wasn't very high intensity. It was very annoying to have to hear him correct the other dumbass who obviously knew nothing. -
what kind of bike? If it's a sport bike, you're going to need to take the plastics off (just the lowers) so you can get a better look at where it's coming from, then you'll better be able to decide what to do.

CBS article on MOTOGP this summer in the states...

I hope this bodes well for sponsorship in Moto GP. I couldn't find a link to the article online, but the newest Sport Rider has a really interesting article about sponsorship in Moto GP. Basically even though they're experiencing more popularity than ever, the teams are having more and more trouble obtaining sponsorship and it may cause the series to cave in on itself if sponsors don't enter the arena soon....that'd suck pretty bad. -
If you're planning to watch MOTO GP on SPEEDTV this weekend.
Smokey replied to NinjaNick's topic in Daily Ride
That's good to see 3 races picked up by CBS, just like there are 4 F1 races on Fox this year too. I'll watch it, even though it's getting a little harder each week to watch Hayden drop the ball. Stoner FTW though! -
2001 Yahama YZF 600r..what's it worth if i want to buy it?
Smokey replied to SuperHawk's topic in Daily Ride
yeah...that's one of the downsides of v-twins. You can tune around it a bit, but it never goes completely away...nature of the beast I guess. There's certainly nothing wrong with the YZF. Performance wise I'd place it about the same as a CBR600F2 or F3. It's a little heavier of a bike and has a WIDE gas tank, which you'll want to consider if your girlfriend is going ride it regularly (or learn on it for that matter) -
What is a normal temperature for sportbikes?
Smokey replied to youngflyflashy's topic in Tech and Tips
223 is a little hotter than you'd like to be, but I'm going to assume you weren't being too specific on that number as it's just a bit higher than most bikes will have the fan kick on. Most newer sport bikes have the fan kick on in the 210-215 range, and shouldn't go much above that. I'd consider 220 about the ceiling of comfort. As for the heat off of the engine bay....welcome to sportbikes. -
2001 Yahama YZF 600r..what's it worth if i want to buy it?
Smokey replied to SuperHawk's topic in Daily Ride
what are you hoping to get out of changing bikes? The YZF will be faster in a straight line, but not by a ton. I definately love the sound of a sport v-twin with pipes on it. Both bikes have more upright riding positions than their newer/racier counterparts. I'm betting that the YZF would make a little better track bike, but once again by a small margin. I vote you keep the super-chicken. It's more distincitve, and I think has a bigger "fun to ride" factor over the YZF as long as you don't mind the lower mileage and abrupt on/off throttle transition and engine braking enherit with the twin. -
glad to hear you were wearing your gear and that you're ok. Make sure to check everything over VERY closely before deciding the future of that bike, it'd sure suck to get in the middle of a track bike rebuild just to find a small crack in the frame.

hahaha....you win, I'm done you stay classy San Diego

There is a physical phenomenon called Rayleigh scattering that causes light to scatter when it passes through particles that have a diameter one-tenth that of the wavelength (color) of the light. Sunlight is made up of all different colors of light, but because of the elements in the atmosphere the color blue is scattered much more efficiently than the other colors. So when you look at the sky on a clear day, you can see the sun as a bright disk. The blueness you see everywhere else is all of the atoms in the atmosphere scattering blue light toward you. (Because red light, yellow light, green light and the other colors aren't scattered nearly as well, you see the sky as blue.) --cribbed from howstuffworks, I'm not that smart so you see, the sky itself is not actually blue, you are merely seeing blue light reflected through it. Now we can get back to arguing about the can man

I won't be able to make it up this weekend, but please let me know how you like the twighlight session as I'm planning on going 7/7

Saw your car at Easton last night, and I must say that in person it is the cleanest evo that I've laid eyes on. Very nice. Bump for you my friend.

That's a STEAL...bump for a great deal. Good luck with the sale.

I still wish I had my talon to have fun with. My screenname is even from that car (who's name was Smokey). The main thing to be cautious about is that you want to look for a car that was owned by someone that cared about it. As stupid as it sounds that usually means the difference between them fixing something small that will be a big problem later, and you don't want to inherit someone elses rat that will be nothing but problems. It doesn't have to be perfect, just not something that the previous owner didn't give a crap about....enough rambling from me for now. I always liked the very true saying of. Cheap, Fast, Reliable....you can only have 2, so make your choice wisely.

haha...the sky isn't blue. The blue is a reflection of the sun through our atmosphere....you asked for it Ben

so.....who's your dude? Local I'm taking it?

interesting idea, and I hope it gets the point across to the government that people are not happy with the way things are being run, but other than that it'll never happen

are these still available?

Definately not a great situation to be in. The best option is to find another gas tank for a decent price. They sell rubber coating systems that you can do yourself for $40ish, or you can take your tank to Hendrick radiator service on Morse and they will do it (I can't remember the price though). The only down fall is that sometimes the rubber coating will cause issues with the vacuum vents in your tank. I have not yet met anyone who will weld the tank, nor do I want to meet someone that does that on a regular basis.

As long as he's not causing trouble or doing anyone/thing harm I'd let him be. He could use the money more than Gahanna, which just charges you for taking them anyway. Plus, I unless it's changed DRASTICALLY, it takes a LOT of cans to equate to any real amount of money.
