It was higher mileage, like 85,XXX-ish. But the car had detailed maintenance records, and it was a BMW CPO car with the warranty still in tact (which he used to fix an issue as well...should have mentioned that before, but I don't think it was related to being owned by Denny). Overall the car was very clean and well kept and we did a lot of research on the car before he purchased it, just like anyone should do before buying ANY car.

Technically that is correct, but you'll have a hard time getting anyone to stick to that, or ever pinning it on them....so basically if you sign any credit app, they can (and will) send you to as many people as possible. Many (if not all) of the apps are submitted electronically now, so the bank doesn't even see what you sign unless the deal goes through (which is when they'll have you sign the appropriate app). Some banks will accept another's application, some won't. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but there are a lot of variables there, especially from the way that some dealerships do business compared to others.

SOLD! Mods, could you please lock this?

Classic? Haha...I wish. Seeing as you're in Westerville, I'd probably just take it to Motorsports and tell them that you want to just pay to have an estimate done. It'll probably be an hour labor. They normally subtract that back off the bill if you have the work done there (which you indicated you're not, but you might be able to work that out with your insurance company). Glad to hear your brother is OK

^^ very well put. It's tough buying a used modified car from anyone. Buying one from a dealer (especially one that is not known for their modifying capabilities) just makes this even worse. If I were to buy a modifed car used I would prefer to buy it from the owner, that way I could better gauge if they truly put some time and effort into the car or if it was just something they messed around with and are now getting rid of because it's too much hassle. FWIW my best friend bought a stock version of a fast car from them (e39 M5) and did not have issues with it and was treated well there, but I'm sure there are plenty of contrary stories out there as well. At least this was first hand experience for me though, not "what I heard"

Amy learned an important lesson the hard way unfortunately. You'll be able to bounce back from that though. ANY time that you sign a credit app at a dealership you give them the "authority" to whore you out to the banks until they get you a deal. That's why most dealers use a generic credit app and not one for a specific bank. They'll have you sign the specific one for the bank that ended up buying your deal when you're in the box taking delivery.

you're correct, but you know that a unique identifier that not everyone uses is useless. **Every US citizen is given a SSN. **I realize this is not completely true, but it's not worth elaborating on for the context of this conversation. Bottom line is that the SSN is their best option among a slew of crappy choices.

"TROOPERS ALSO CITED NEARLY 150 DRIVERS MOVING AT LESS THAN TEN MILES AN HOUR ON ROADS WITH 55 OR 65 MILE PER HOUR SPEED LIMITS." Damn Buicks
-
Ben is correct, it is the only unique identifier for individuals in this country, and trust me it makes things a lot easier. For instance, many european countries do not have a SSN system so it takes far more effort to prove who you are. How would you like to have to provide proof of residence with your last five mortgage checks in order to get your cable turned on? While it is very important to guard your SSN as much as possible, it's also being used by more and more companies to verify your information because it's the best way to do so.

I'd say give the 75-90 a shot and if it feels like molasses then you'll have to go to the synchromesh, synchroshift, or one of the like.
-
hrm...I honestly don't know what the stock fill was supposed to be on those cars. I have the factory manual on a CD somewhere, I'll have to try to find it and look it up. I always used Synchromesh with good results. If you're feeling a little more expensive, there's always BG Synchroshift as well which is very highly regarded for those transmissions, especially stock. You could always shoot Sheperd an email
-
is the transmission you're putting in recently rebuilt or just a stock one with lower miles? What made you decide on going to a gear oil? Synchromesh, which has a fond following in DSM land, is about the equivelant of 80W, so I would lean towards the idea that the 75-150w would be too thick. You can mix match synthetics just fine, as long as you're confident that you'll be happy with the resulting viscosity.

Where To Get European Cars Worked on?
Smokey replied to Radio Flyer1647545514's topic in Tech and Tips
correct, but I usually don't bust people's balls too much about it unless they're a self-proclaimed expert on BMWs and keep calling them "Beamers". Auto Assets does very good work and is very reputable, but not exactly cheap. Whenever I have something that I can't or don't want to do on my car, I take it there because I feel that I can trust them and their work. -

what are you trying to get done? That may help decide where to take it. -
I'll definately be there. I'm pissed at myself for not going to F1 this year when i said I was going to, and now it won't be coming back.

Glad to see you finally found a bike Greg. Looks like you made a good purchase. I really like the color combo.
-
yeah, and when you looked REALLY close at it, it was a FAKE swap...sucks. The BAN-III was the coolest thing at the show for me.

Look at people still selling 900RRs for $3500. Now I'd appreciate it if you'd go piss in someone elses cereal.

Boost Gauge sold, thanks Joe. Sale pending on turbo timer and harness.
-
hahaha....will do. It's funny it seems the best way to make money on the bike is to total it out, keep the insurance money and then sell it as a stunt bike for $3K Flounder, I'm not going to argue with you about the price. You're correct that I'm on the high side of the market, but I'm not completely unreasonable. Especially when you consider that if this bike was at a dealer it'd be marked at $6499.
-
It's been a tough decision to sell, and I'm still not sure if I will be able to follow through with it. I absolutely love the bike, and it does everything I could want it to. Unfortunately I just haven't been able to ride it as much as I'd like to lately. Most of the people that I know that used to ride have sold their bikes, and the people I went to track days with don't have bikes anymore either. On top of that I've been able to start doing track days with my car over the past couple years and I've been having a lot more fun doing it than I thought I would. Plus, I'm able to do the car days with my brother which is a big motivator for me (we used to do bike days together, but he sold his bike and I don't think he's looking back). And in the end, I can't afford to do track days with both machines, so I think the bike will go...makes me sad...but I could really use the money to pay off debt as well. Wow, sorry that was so long winded.
-
but aren't the 06-07 bikes essentially the same? If you want we can meet up and I'll even bring my tools so that we can put them on and make sure they fit. Will take all of 10 minutes.

Fado. Great selection of pub-ish drinks. Off the top of my head they have Boddingtons, Guinness (duh), Strongbow, some french 1804 shit (not worth all the hype, and of course my favorite Harp. I thought the Rose and Thisle closed down? or was kicked out of the building they were in?

i thought they might run both in the same weekend similar to BMWCCA, I wasn't sure what the OP was running in though.
