You find me a red base model 5-speed with black interior in similar condition and we'll trade.

$16,300. I got a whopping $250 off that which basically covered gas to get it.

No. I know that kid though. It's a touring and repainted a GM white. This car was from VA and on the market 1 day.

I'll actually cut out and use that roll bar in the new car if I can. I tried telling people that it was toast, but you needed to see it to believe it. Here's the new hope: http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1841178#post1841178

After the death of my last rx7 I contemplated many options. Considered just buying a classic cruiser, going back to motorcycles, or just taking time away from the hobby as a whole. I realized that I'm too addicted to the track habit though and I'd get another track car. I considered Porsches, Corvettes, and BMWs, but realized I have a strange attraction to Rx7s. I also know the platform both good and bad, have a nice stockpile of parts from the old car, and like weird shit evidently. I only have some phone snaps of me picking up the car. I didn't plan on buying one so soon but found a car that was 95% of what I wanted (would have preferred red). The car is a white 94 Rx7 with 61,500 miles. 2 owners a father who bought it new and gave it to his son. It's a base model 5-speed which means it has no sunroof, no wing, and no rear wiper which is exactly what I wanted. In this configuration it makes it 1 of 54 made this way in 1994 and one of a total 67 white no-roof cars ever brought to the US. The car is grungy and needs a good detail, but is in great shape overall. It's bone stock down to having some of the parts that were considered faults from the factory. It also has a horrible stereo install that will be yanked. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/9CF736AE-142E-46BE-A178-0F271C23AD1E_zpsgueln0bc.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/80845FD5-5B94-48B4-8401-AA45FEB22449_zpsbncxkjgq.jpg

With Sebastian Vettle driving my flying carpet I'm sure it'll be faster yet. Either way a stock C5z isn't going to touch Andy's GT3.

How the car looks currently. Plan is to strip it to the bones by the end of July so I'll be busy. http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z56/kutschca/BC21DA03-A13F-4747-909D-5B5F85581223_zpsxyfbgact.jpg

We'll have to come up with a new name for the white car. I'll upload my initial phone pics later. I suppose I need to put up the Janky death pics too.

You listen to his podcast? Funny cause he just finished getting his helicopter pilots license.

I'll post up carnage pics after I finalize with the insurance company. While I don't think the rear shock towers were bent, I have a hard time thinking anyone would be able to use the car again. You're welcome to have it for scrap value after I strip it to the bones.

I was less than thrilled with my service from Bob at Performance Research when I had my m3 headgasket done there. His machine work was fine, but be prepared for him to tell you a hundred times you need a valve job. then after he does the valve job, the lifters aren't going to want to fit right and he'll blow that off too. If you want to do the full valve job, valve guides and stronger retainers...he's your guy, and that's what I ended up doing. If you just want the head decked and checked for cracks..go to M&M

Clay, the BMWs I kicked around were an e46 M3 and 135i. Not really sold that either are a better fit for a track car for me despite being better street cars. Over the past 2 years Janky saw about 90% track miles and 10% street miles. I need to determine if that's more a function of a hectic track schedule and having 2 young kids or because I didn't want to drive it on the street. Yes, there are carnage pics, but I'm not posting them right now.

I'd get a sweet 964 but I think they're too slow as track cars unfortunately. Still love them but not for that purpose.

A GT3 would be awesome, and everything I want...except having a car payment on my track car. Plus with 2 small kids and a house purchase looming on the horizon it's not smart for me to take on a big car payment.

I'm considering all options, it with decent rollers bringing $7-9k and shitty shells still bringing $3-5k it might be easier to find a working vehicle that I can verify condition and build it with my parts.

Yeah that series of laps was 39.1, 38.9, 39.3, 38.7. Not too shabby for a car on Nittos. :lolguy: It's a bummer because I was really getting the car more ironed out this year. This was actually my first event on the new Ohlins suspension....now the rears need replaced. Doh. E, the insurance is a grey area for sure. Check your own policy. Some cover it since it's drivers education and not racing. Others won't cover you if you're in the parking lot at a race track.

No video of the wreck but the car went sideways in the kink of the back straight when I passed thru a little river of water running across the track. Started a long spin and slide that had a HARD impact with the rear and the outside concrete wall. No fixing the car unless you want to cut the unibody in half and weld together a new one. Wags if you want to see it after I strip it and before it goes to the scrap yard you're welcome to. Thankfully my safety equipment was up to task and a little luck saw me hit rearward instead of any other angle. Those things are why I'm waking and taking and not posting about broken bones or worse. Next car...most likely another FD. I've considered a C5Z as it's the best bang for the buck track wise, I just don't know that the car is "me" otherwise. I have an unexplained love for the FD and sometimes I need that to keep me going. That being said the FD market is weird right now and nothing jumps out at me. Everyone keep their eyes peeled for a red base model 5-speed for me!

Unfortunately I was being silly and driving too fast in the rain at Mid Ohio a couple of weeks ago. Conditions changed fast and Janky took a wild ride that ended with it backing into a concrete barrier. It's terminal I'm afraid. :fa::fa: My brother put together a short homage video for us to mourn. The song is a nice joke for those that watched the last Furious movie. Haha.

Any interest in an aluminum 5.3l truck motor? I have a buddy with one I can ask his desire to sell.

What. The. Fuck. Pure luck that there wasn't car to car contact. Did I see a minivan with aftermarket wheels? LOLZ
-
Welcome. That is the goofiest trailer I've ever seen. Not so sure id use it to haul cars regularly.
-
Fully agreed. I should have gotten the stock hood from the previous owner but I know I'd never fit it if I tracked the car. Sucks but the cooling is necessary.

Nice pics. Love the new wheels on the 964
