hahah....yes AJ the Z06 definitely owned all in the rain. my FD without p/s, a/c, and other light options but still full interior and absolutely full of gas (without me in it) was 2700lbs even. This was still with the spare and bose in the back as well.

Ben, I filled up with 93 at the UDF by my place for $1.979 today at lunch. Thought I'd let you know since it's close.
-
yeah, for what you want done, I'd just go to anyone that you trust and have good experience with. If you don't have one of those check the vendor section for reviews that you like. Edit: also how picky are you with who works on your car(s)?
-
what do you want done? I'd likely stick to a rotary specialist for certain things.
-
while I agree with you, for a car that's "casually" DE'd and where total outright performance isn't a complete concern I'd pick the Z06 as well. It's just easier in every aspect...you show up, drive, and go home. No muss, no fuss and it's consistent throughout the day. I picked the FD because I'm secretly a sadist and enjoy covering everyone else on the track with oil, smoke, and flames.
-
while I agree with your idea on paying off the car and just driving it, unfortunately your money won't be worth jack when the zombies come....I'd invest in a nice back stock of bullets.

the FD was totaled earlier this year and I don't think he bought it back from the insurance company. I'll admit David, I was secretly hoping to come in here and see you had bought your car back and were turning it into a track-only car....I'm sad. That being said, you'll love the Z06. My friend had a C5Z that with the same mods as your mentioning and a sqared tire setup was easily just as fast as my 300lb less FD.

Andrew is correct that a properly setup coilover system will be better than shocks springs, but you also have to ask yourself if you will realistically need or even be able to tell the difference.

Tilley, the Mr. Schnauzie stuff is killing me today....I must say it's been some of your best work lately. I think it would only be made better if each picture zoomed in closer on the dog....have Not Brian do it for you!

while it certainly sucks that the states have cut funding to universities which has been a big cause of price hikes....I agree with Andrew. If you try to mandate that everyone can go it will negate many of the advantages of going in the first place. I'm still paying school loans and while it sucks, it's part of the program.

I think you're correct in thinking it's the oil seals in the turbo, that's certainly what it looks like. I guess it could be the rings on the car, but that seems a bit harsh for such a new car. How many people can actually tune those cars with the direct injection? How much can the stock injectors compensate/flow for upgrades even with a tune? Theoretically, turbo seal failure could have been caused by upping the boost too much (you mention MBC's and downpipes), or a very remote possibility of running the car lean/hot and causing damage to them from too much heat, but I know the VW/Audi crowd runs the K04 pretty hard without many issues. I've also seen situations where a drain line for the turbo isn't big enough and it causes the pressure to push back past the seals and into the compressor side of the turbo, but this is on aftermarket installations of new turbos. I think the only way that'd be the cause on the MS3 is if somehow the drain line was being blocked in some way, or if it was kinked in the installation of the downpipe maybe? In the end it's all speculation and you won't know until someone competent tears it apart to see what's really going on.

noted, thanks for the heads up. I'll wait till video.

oh yeah, I'm looking forward to Four Christmases (or however it's spelled). Looks hilarious. That's probably the closest thing on my horizion. Oh yeah, I meant to go see Max Payne but haven't gotten around to it, has anybody seen it? Any good?
-
saw it. If you like his movies then it's definitely a good view. My only complaint was that it takes a while to get going even moreso than his other films. But, like always he has a great way of shooting many scenes (I won't spoil any for you) and always has great music in his movies.

my metal phase was right as Metallica came up, still have a few of the tapes somewhere...yeah...tapes baby. I definitely went as far as getting way into Pantera. Listened to a bit of Slayer, Entombed, and Cannibal Corpse. I've been out of the metal scene for quite some time, and I liked the stuff that Scott and Schmuck posted but I don't regularly listen to metal any more. I'm sure I'll get flamed to crap for this, but lately I've been taking it back to the new-funk sounds of G. Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3aaxVGFIf8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHy-8PDdHSA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZsMpwxElyw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwGCaJ_kvu8&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMBnfHTNW38 I've also lately been listening to John Butler Trio and Ray LaMontagne

Hate to be a party pooper for everybody, but I think the deal is referring to their new oven baked sandwiches....of which they make a Philly. So you get a sub for $5....that sounds very familiar.

Ben, I'm in the condos at Central College and Hamilton
-
hrm....surprised we'd be at seperate places since we live so close. I was at Quest church on Central College Rd in between Ulry and Hamilton.
-
it's cool man, I was just a bit corn-fused. Sorry to hear about your experience over at NW though, they're usually the best dealer in town.
-
Ben, I'm going to assume you were at Quest? I was there in the mess this morning, and I actually had to bail due to having an insurance physical this morning. I got there at 6:10 and hoped I could make it thru in time, but had to go right before my row from the sanctuary would have gone down the hallway. The good news is that evidently all the people from our district vote in the morning!!! I went home for lunch and drove by as a "just in case" to see only 20 cars in the parking lot! I was able to walk right in and up to the table, sign up, and immediately go to a voting booth. Total time in and out was maybe 10 minutes.
-
cool, I was just curious. Let me know how it finishes up when it's all over. Good luck with everything.
