I hope he had comprehensive insurance. It's probably crashed somewhere by now.

Look out Jap bikes, Buell has something for ya!
kinkinhood replied to ChevyMan1972's topic in Daily Ride
I give Buell creativity points with the point that they're at least trying designs that are different from everyone else. That and they're taking old and antiquated engines and getting power out of them that Harley Davidson could only dream they could make. -
I still kinda wonder whatever happened to checking ID when someone uses a credit card. Go back to that practice and I can bet ya a decent amount of stolen CC usage would decline.

It's real, if I remember the story correctly it was a prank from his friends who do all his painting for him anyhow. I think they painted it back afterwards.

+1 to pilot power 2CT

I kinda do still say no matter what you do to it, a polished up turd is still a turd.

They're no doubt good knives, going into the sales of them sucks though because you're essentially eventually dwindled down to door to door salesman.

I think there's something like 7 different spots that the VIN will be, including the frame and the engine. What I'd say do is have a friend who can act as operator so to speak and go over to take a look at it. Find the vin number, memorize the important numbers(I believe the last 5) that you have and see if you can find the bike's vin number. If you find it to be a match say you're interested but you're wanting your mechanic friend to come over and give it a quick one over before buying it and he could be over in 5 minutes. Call your friend the operator and have some keywords to use when making the call to them that essentially tells them "The quad is stolen, call police" Police show up, arrest guy, you get back quad, have a beer and celebrate

I'm sorry to hear that. At least though you can say he died doing something he absolutely loved to do, not that many people can make that claim.

Despite the point that yes, I do agree that a helmet law is taking away some "freedom." At the same time, I also look at it that if someone dies from a motorcycle accident that the death could have been avoided by wearing a helmet our insurance companies would at least lose the excuse of those deaths as reasons for why the rest of our insurance premiums have to be increased. Insurance is a for profit business and unneeded deaths do not help their profits, so they're going to tag the living to help bite the cost of those who believe their head has no value. I am also very much in favor of developing a tiered licenseing system akin to what is in Europe, even maybe modifying it so that if you really don't want to wait the years to move up the tiers you can take supplimental on the bike classes/tests that would test your ability to work with the more powerful bike. I think such would lower rider error accident rate as well as it would get the US alot of the real nice 250s that Europe and Japan get but we don't get because there is almost no market for them over here.

Because they don't realize/reconize the risk assessment. I won't let someone on the back of my bike without closed toed shoes, jacket, gloves, and at least pants that cover the entirety of the legs. Some people ask why and I simply respond with "With allowing them on the back of my bike I have taken their lives and well being into my hands and I want them protected from unforseen circumstances as best as they can be." I think the people who ride essentially naked are dumb, the ones that put passengers in essentially no gear I often wish to punch, though the ones that bother me the most are the parents who'll put their kid on the back of their bike with sometimes the only thing protecting them is a bicycle helmet. Those are the people who I want to rip off their bike and bitchslap them across the head and say "You fucking moron, don't you value your child's life at all?"
-
Ask most of them they'll say "Oh I won't crash so it's not important."
-
That really sucks. If I hadn't gotten rid of my spare one I'd have a jacket to offer you.

Wii's still sell on ebay for above retail

I do kinda have to say damn, you're really rolling in the money. as for the prenup, hell yes get it. Agreed it will seem unromantic, but current divorce courts are heavily weighed towards the woman who would be so 'helpless' should they get a divorce. Saying a prenup is garunteeing you'll get a divorce is like saying gearing up completely for riding a motorcycle is garunteeing that you're going to go out and crash.

Ah ok. I'll talk to a friend of mine, her parents own a small law firm, I will see if there are any openings(I don't think there are, but never hurt to ask)

Fwiw I've seen alot of legal positions popping up on craigslist. Worth giving a check probaly.

While not a death, there's always this guy who managed to crash on the one day he decided not to wear gear. http://www.socal-sportbikes.com/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=58512 Further example that crashes happen when one never expects it. One of the reasons I operate with the mentality of "dressing for the crash you do not plan to attend"

Mid Ohio has 26 track days for motorcyclist a yeah. Just remember to ride on the track you need a one piece or two piece that zips all the way around at the waist, good motorcycle boots, a helmet, and gauntlet style gloves. Truthfully I would say for anyone who has a sportbike they really should do at least one track day as it will show them what their bike was truthfully born to do.
-
Get him to go to a track, they'll force him into a one piece leather suit. If he pushes himself as much as you make it out to be he'll probably at one point or another during the course of the day lowside and slide a good hundred feet which while he probably will get out with little injury, mainly some bruising, it'll give him a real wakeup call.
-
Ask him to do a track day with you and use that to see who's truthfully faster.

I think it partially depends on what Iran does in terms of OPEC. I mean they just recently played their card of "You pose any military aggression towards our nuclear program we'll completely cut off our oil from the rest of the world." From that it makes me wonder what the rest of OPEC thinks of Iran(don't forget, OPEC was quoted at saying oil should be currently at 80 dollars a barrel). OPEC in general is interested in the finances, where Iran is showing their more interested in using it for political reasons, which is against the common OPEC good. They said they won't be suprised if oil reaches 500 dollars a barrel within a year or so, whereas the rest of OPEC disagrees for the simple reason of they know at that price they'd get no income as well. Then there is also the thing of if Iran was to cut off their supply out would the rest of OPEC alienate them for the simple reason of by doing so Iran will essentially declare war with the rest of the world and when most of your food is imported and you have 2 countries(russia and the US) who would probably have no problems with blocading their ports and all of their trade routes one must wonder if Iran is just pulling an incredibly large bluff or if they're really that nuts of a country.

From most charts that I've seen the EVO tends to run either 1 or 2

They're better than the original Pilot Powers in that sense, but they still can square off(one of the reasons the Pilot Roads keep going for commuters.
