  1. I have a client that is looking for a home for her two dogs. One is a 5yo black pug and the other is a 7yo Miniature Dachshund. The reason they gave is that they have 2 kids now. Stupid reason but I guess the Dachshund isn't getting along well with them. Obviously they would prefer for them to go to a new home together.
  2. As with any adoption, breeder or otherwise, I recommend getting pet insurance. I work in the ER at MedVet, one of only a couple ER in the city, and our invoices just for some testing and an overnight stay are very seldom less than $500. Surgeries there are going to be more than $2000 easy and most vets in the area refer to our specialty departments. Bulldogs, as with any breed, are known for specific problems (allergies, skin problems, ear infections, breathing, bloat just to name a few) and more than likely you will spend extra money on this dog over the next 10 years. At least have a look at the mother (and father if possible) and see what they look like, act like, sound like before you adopt. I wouldn't spend $1000 for a dog but that's just me. Definitely stay away from PetLand. Rescue groups are great as well as the shelters, you just have to remember that lots of those dogs are in those situations for a reason, so you may be looking at behavioral problems. However, most of them are just looking for a loving family. The PetSmart training is good but you have to do the exercises at home, not just at the class, for it to be worthwhile. I'm not terribly familiar with the downtown/short north area but Northstar Vet Clinic (5th and Northstar) is owned by a doctor that I've worked with and comes highly recommended. Good luck with your search and let me know if you need any help finding a good dog or training the pup.
  3. So I got an fender eliminator for my F4i from PimpBikes -- I do not recommend doing this, by the way... With the new undertail the stock tail light is tossed and is replaced by 2 LED clusters. The lights have 5 wires each (red, gray, blue, yellow, black). Anyone know the proper way to wire them to the stock wiring?
  4. Welcome! This is a great site for meeting other riders and getting info.
  5. You guys all have some fun for me. I'm going to work now... Happy Holidays!
  6. I bought tickets as a Christmas present for my nieces because Katy Perry will be there and they are big fans. It's going to be at the Lifestyles Community Pavilion. Has anyone been to one of these or a general admission show at this place? Do you have to be 18 or 21 to get in? If so, I'll have some tickets for sale.
  7. Glad to hear you are ok! Let us know if you need anything!
  8. Update on the bike down on Polaris last week -- Had a client come in lastnight with a cat in diabetic shock. It's this rider's cat!!! The rider is in a coma. I guess he lost control and basically went into a tank-slapper. He was riding a "Sporty." His fiance said all the chrome is blacked out so that's why it was hard to tell what kind of bike it was. When I left this morning, the cat wasn't doing as well as he should have been so I hope he'll pull through along with his owner! His dad and fiance were really sweet people! My thoughts go out to their family.
  9. LOL! WTF? That's the most ridiculous reason to stop someone I've ever heard of!
  10. Hey, sorry, didn't really get to say hi. I was the one chatting with GSXR750girl (on the white bike with ORANGE wheels). I'm sure we'll see you out again!
  11. I also have a small nylon backpack with strings for straps that you pull to close the top of the bag. It folds up pretty small and I keep it under my seat in case I pick up something when I'm out on the bike. I have a cargo net under there too which comes in handy sometimes.
  12. Wow! I can't believe that! Sad to hear.
  13. Sorry to repost, didn't know there was already a thread about this in "The Daily Ride"
  14. I've been thinking about this for a while now. They have so many products out there to clean your house and hands to "kill germs." And then they feel the need to vaccinate kids against everything possible. Kids these days don't have natural immune systems. Whatever happen to playing in the dirt outside or letting the kid crawl on the floor. There was no "antibacterial" soap when I was a kid, it was simply soap and hot water. And all the cleaning solutions and ointments to prevent infection and scarring from a scrape/cut? What's the fun in that? No scars for storytelling? We also ate real, fresh food instead of something frozen or from a can/box. I think anyone born after maybe 1990 needs to worry because something's going to come along that wipes that generation out.
  15. Saw on the news that a bike wrecked on Polaris lastnight. Not a big surprise due to bike night at QSL but just wondered if anyone knew who it was. It was hard to see on the tv, but didn't see a lot of shine, think it may have been a black sportbike. I think they said the rider was ok but they didn't give details of the crash.
  16. I use my Jansport bag I had in college. Works great for my work commute. I have to change once I get to work and there's plenty of room for my scrubs, shoes, lunch and more.
  17. Unfortunately this guy was 6'1" with quite a long reach. And for those of you who don't know me, I'm a 5'2" girl. But at least I didn't let that stop me. I still got off my bike and went back there and grabbed the guy once I saw what was going on. Of course he wasn't being the aggressor but when I grabbed his arm he was pulling back for another punch! We'll see what happens...

    Damn cagers!!!

Lastnight on our way to QSL we got into a small altercation with a fucking SUV driver. We were going north on Rt 3 and about to turn left onto Schrock. As I was getting into the turn lane the SUV starts moving from the straight lane to the one I'm in. I had to swerve to miss a collision with him. When he moved over he cut Bret off who was right behind me. Bret pulled up beside him and told him to watch where the hell he was going. He pushed Bret's helmet back (he's holding his bike up with his legs and turning to his right) so the bike almost falls over. The guy was trying to get out of the SUV, Bret is trying to hold the door closed so he doesn't hit him or the bike with it and to avoid further confrontation, in the meantime still holding his bike up with his legs. He put the stand down and got off the bike so it wouldn't fall over if he pushed him again. Meanwhile the guy gets out of the SUV and starts swinging. He knocked Bret's visor off his helmet then punched him in the face causing a bloody nose. I get off my bike and grab the guy who starts arguing with me. Oooo, I wish he woulda hit me!!! Then another unknown biker opens the SUV door and tells him to get inside and the guy slams the door shut and tells her not to touch his door. He got all up in her face. He finally gets in as Bret is on the phone with 911. I went and stood in front of his car to get the plate and keep him from hitting my bike. Bret's behind him reading off the back plate to the cops. Well, anyway, he takes off and they find him down the street. He said he stayed in the area so he could "make contact with the responding officers." Yeah, I'm sure that's why he left the scene! Um, the cops were on their way to us, he really didn't have to go looking for them. Anyway, the report says the cops couldn't decide who started the altercation. So unfortunately it's our word against his so nothing will probably happen if we press charges AND the fucker listed his address and home phone as one in California that I believe is his father's. He has Ohio plates and an ohio cell phone. He had a bunch of kids in the car and his name matches up with the address of one of the kids. Nice example for the kids of how to handle confrontation huh? And to top it all off, we were late getting to QSL! Sorry we didn't get to meet up with you guys that were about to head out riding. We hadn't eaten and headed home to relax after that crazy shit! So watch out for a silver Chevy Trailblazer, license number DXT3694 in the Gahanna/Westerville area! Because the driver is a dick who doesn't pay attention to what the hell he's doing!

    Qsl 7/23

Sorry we were so late thanks to the cager idiot we found on the way there! Good to meet you guys though!
  20. We were about to leave about 7:00 when we heard the thunder. Victor called from 270/23 interchange and said it was pouring. Could hear his windshield wipers over the phone. He said the wind was blowing the car over the road. Soooo...we opted out. Looked like it cleared up though. Did you guys still ride?
  21. Like I've said before, I muzzle more small dogs that large ones at work. I think a lot of the time ppl don't train their small dogs well because they are afraid to discipline them. Then they end up with a holy terror of a dog!
  22. Alright who was it? On Sunday we had a Shih Tzu (foo foo dog) come in at work that had been hit by a motorcycle. I didn't bother asking suburban soccer mom owner what kind of bike it was. Turns out the rider had just bought the bike and was cruising around the neighborhood to get used to it and hit the dog. Apparently he was going slow enough that he stopped right away after hitting her. The dog was fine, just had an abrasion on her leg. Everytime I hear "hit by mototcycle" as the presenting complaint, my first thought is always, "How's the rider?!" Last summer we had a black lab HBM. I think I'd rather go for the Shih Tzu!
  23. A 250 is a great starter bike if you've never ridden before. I've had mine for a year and am looking to upgrade to a 600 but I'm ok if that's not until next year because I love my bike. I have an '07 (the last of the old style). They re-styled it for '08 but the specs are actually better on the older ones (slightly higher top speed, 50# lighter, quicker acceleration and better gas milage). They're not race machines and keeping up with the bigger bikes can be a challenge...if you're going over 100mph. The acceleration is slower than the 600+ but not enough to make you not get one. Plus, like others have said, they hold their value well. Lots of ppl underestimate the 250 but you'd be surprised how easy and fun it is to ride due to the low weight. It's cornering made easy! PM me if you have questions or wanna see the bike.
