  1. Yeah, if you've read the book you should be fine. As long as you actually read it not just skimmed it assuming you know what it's gonna say. They ask trick questions or ask you the same ones with different wording. It's not bad. Some questions are just general traffic stuff.
  2. Looking for a helment for a 5 year old boy. Anyone have one or know of a good place to get one for cheap? It won't be used very much.
  3. You've totally taken what I said out of context. I was referring to PETA comparing pet ownership to slavery. For both pets and children, we make decisions for them and even tell them what to do but that does not make either one a slave. But your example of childrearing above is a specific example as to why I do not have any children of my own. Thanks for the reminder!
  4. I totally agree! Hell, I think it's the other way around in most homes with pets! My cat shits, I clean the litter box. His bowl is empty, I fill it up. Dog sits at the door, I open it. Wow! What a horrible life! Raising pets isn't any different that raising kids. You provide for them and make decisions in their best interest. But we do not think of our children as slaves. I can see this point when it comes to livestock, work horses etc but do we really consider farm animals as "pets"?
  5. Who the fuck ever said either of these things? Don't really care to be friends with some ppl on this board but I'll be polite to them. :rolleyes:My comment regarding this issue was showing that the "other group" were being dicks. If I wave, smile, nod to someone and they look straight at me and then look away, that's being a dick! When Bret posted about the thread being moved the stupid "Who's not going..." thread was still in the general forum which is why he thought it was fucked up to move Bret's post with the excuse that it was useless.
  6. Chill out dude! He works second shift and Thursday is one of those days! Wednesday is not. I'm sure he'd much rather be at the Lodge Bar or riding instead of sitting in his cubicle.
  7. Ok, as usual, this thread has gotten way out of hand. Two points I would like to make: 1. Many people see Ohio Riders as a group of riders. Obviously this is not the case. Rather, we are several people who post on an internet forum. 2. If Putty is the one who came up with the idea of meeting at Shell then why were he and his friends meeting at BP instead? Can't use the "large group" excuse because Flounder said you rolled out of QSL with 30 bikes. A bit contradicting... Anyway, whatever, who cares? We don't all have to be best friends, but remember, it's polite to return a smile/nod/wave from another biker. Moreso if it's someone you've actually met and spoken to in the past. So for any of you new members who are looking to actually meet other riders, you know where to meet up. Same place, same time as always.
  8. There's a couple lights like this that I run into when I come home from work at 3 or 5am. I have gone through them a couple times. Other times I just detour a bit to a light that I know will change automatically anyway. It is pretty annoying though! I wonder if a cop would give me a ticket when I'm the only one anywhere near an intersection and I've sat there for 10 minutes with no light change?
  9. I have to agree that this really is a stupid idea for legislation. I have been working in animal hospitals for 10 years and have been bitten by two dogs. One was a husky and one was a pomeranian. Yes I do muzzle pit bulls, BUT only when they give me a reason to. But it's the same with all dogs. You normally can see by the look in their eyes if they may bite you. But I muzzle more cocker spaniels than I do pit bulls. If I think we're going to do something the dog is going to object to and don't feel I can restrain it safely, I muzzle it. There are a lot of large dogs that no matter what I do, it's stronger than me. And there are some really wiggly little dogs too! A couple years ago a pit bull bit a 3 year old in the face. Turns out she had puppies and the mother let the baby lay down on the dog with her puppies right there. STUPID!!! A year later I saw the dog with a knife in it's back (I think the blade was 8 inches and in the dog up to the handle) because the boyfriend of the mother decided to stab the dog, unprovoked (saw the chance and took it). We removed that dog from the backseat of the police cruiser and took xrays without a muzzle and it never once showed any form of aggression toward us. At the same time, a couple weeks ago a lab came in with several stab wounds on it's back because it had attacked the neighbor's dog. I had a pit a few months ago with bite wounds on his face (not from another pit) so I had to clip and clean the wounds without a muzzle and he did great! My friend has pits and they may run up to you and jump on you but it's only to get closer to lick your face! They're big babies. She had one of her dogs at the park on leash. Another owner had a golden off-leash. Like with many dogs, my friend's dog doesn't do well when other dogs run up to them. She warned the other owner several times to call their dog back and when they didn't, Cookie (the pit) bit the other dog. The other owner told park services and the dog warden about it, wanted my friend banned from the park and the dog put down. He even found out where she worked and called and harrassed her there and my boss had to get involved. There definitely are a fair share of pit owners that only have them for status and allow them to act like fools. However, any puppy can grow up to be an aggressive dog. I had a client with Pit puppy that was showing aggressive tendencies when I was working on it. I told the owner she needed to work with the dog (as I would tell any owner of any breed) so that it knows that biting is not tolerated. She said when her husband comes home from work late at night the dog growls and snarls at him at the door and she wanted it that way for protection. That will be just great when their 3-year-old child grows up and has friends that want to come over and play. This is an example of a stupid pit owner. Just a couple examples of my "dangerous" run-ins with pit bulls... I have seen many pits that I feel do have agressive tendencies but more often than not, it's the owner's fault. I see a lot of ppl with stupid kids too, but that doesn't mean we're going to eliminate the next generation. You can't say that just this one breed is aggressive. Most ppl would see an American Bulldog and this it's a Pit but it's not so it's ok to let them live? I have a lot of owners who have "boxer mix" listed as their dog's breed because if it came down to and the medical records were pulled for a dog bite complaint, the word Pit Bull wouldn't be on there.
  10. Guess I need to find a bored LEO then because mine shows about 10 higher than I'm going when I'm around 50-70 so I have no idea how fast I'm going when it says 25-35. Following a cop thru Westerville the other day in a 35 zone my speedo said 40.
  11. What's the fuss all about? She posted this thread to announce an event. Doesn't mean everyone has to go. It's rare to see sportbikes at any event like this (Poker Runs, charity rides, anything patriotic or religious) but maybe that's why sportbike riders get such a bad reputation? To each his own...
  12. What time would we be meeting at the end of the scavenger hunt? I may be able to just work half a shift that day but that would mean I'd have to be at work by 6pm.
  13. I don't remember a "drive your tractor to school" day but the guys were allowed so many days off of school during harvest time to work on the farms. And for one of out senior pranks, we let a greased pig go inside the school!
  14. Didn't bother watching lastnight because I missed so many episodes this season. I work almost every Thursday and got behind trying to catch them online.
  15. Sorry, man, the Shell that's in front of QSL used to be a Marathon. Don't know when it changed to Shell. We'll have to be more specific from now on.
  16. I'll be there but will be riding bitch while my bike gets fixed.
  17. It was pretty cool of them to have us leading the procession! It was an appropriate farewell.
  18. That's not the hat he was sent home with! LOL
  19. Good news! Jack gets to come home this evening. I'll go get him in a bit after he has more time to recover from the anesthesia. His xrays looked bad and he looked worse, but the doctor said the procedure went well, easier than expected and he should do well. Kudos to NorthStar Animal Care! They come highly recommended as I have worked with the doctor who owns the clinic as well as his wife where I work now. It is located at NorthStar and W 5th Ave in case anyone needs a good vet.
