Yeah I know they are like that. You like my post about the Leathers or you will die mentality that some have.

Flounder I thought this was you

The pwned pic is good.

A loud bike that you ride helps. I had done some races and been in the advanced group for a couple years, and last year at Mid OH I was on my Dad's TL-S running when the Track had dried out and couldn't run my rain tires. I was coming into the kink in Thunder valley leaving some room on the inside when an expert on a kawi 600 shot past me like I was standing still. It spooked me, but since I have been past close it just spooked my senses since I couldn't hear him coming over the TL-S. My mind jumped and not the bike or my body.

I was surprised how close Rog was to leaving AMA before Kawasaki picked him up. I would like to see a new MFG step up in AMA... World Superbike and MotoGP (last race at least) had a Multi MFG battle.

Yeah I call that the trackday line, as most trackday riders even those who don't go to a school have that mentality till someone tells them and they try different approach. To me it is most evident at turn 6 (left after the back straight) at Mid Oh. You can watch most will carry lower corner speed through 5 so they can setup wide for 6. It is a great passing place, but if you are to late it is a great way to get your front sawed off. When I can hear a bike behind me I will leave that small buffer on the outside, but I also know my mid corner speeds is average and even most faster guys will just out drive me on the inside after the apex for the pass, or up the inside on the brakes as they are carrying that 5-10 mph more entry speed then I am. Just do as Lizard says, hit up a coach to review your lines then try his suggestions a couple corners at a time. Don't go out and try to change every line on the track at once. That will make it too much of a change and overload your perception and make things harder on ya.

Actually, Lizard I have done Levels 1&2 with code at VIR though, and never once did they specify a line, and neither was it in the cirriculum. Now I bet it is a different coach crew though, and that could be it. I would be interested what lines they are taking? I know code's style of riding is actually key on the wide in wide out that Mid OH is not really good for. I think there is only 4 corners that you enter from the outside curb.

Hey owndjoo and Lizard, you guys going to be up at Mid OH October 1st? I am thinking about doing that day as I want one more day at mid oh. Plus a chance to try the 1k on that track.
-
Right on, I have seen guys in the intermediate groups on FZ 6s and FZ 1s that just anhialate them. Plus I have seen some in the advance groups that are very fast. So the Z1000 is very capable bike as owndjoo says.

Is your head up the horses butt again?? Your name isn't Lizard....

Well if you want to go that route, you can looking into www.superbikeschool.com/ or www.classrides.com These are Schools that work on your riding technique on the track. They will be pricey and even more so when you rent their bikes. Both come to Mid OH I believe (I know Code's school does). But if you are looking at just seeing if you like the track Mid OH day (which Sportbike Track Time runs) is your best option. Their Beginner class does have some Class room with exercise to try on the track. Plus their Coaches control the session so no one can really do anything too stupid for first 4-5 sessions. Even their coaches in the other levels are good (except Lizard he just passes you and laughs. )

I have a couple buddies who have some open land, and there are plenty of open MX tracks. Plus there is www.haspinacres.com if I want to run trails.

I'll stick to riding around here.. It isn't worth it for me to do all that just to ride a dang dirt bike.
-
Yeah it isn't the best, but it can get the job done. I like RK kit, but all chain tools are difficult as the chains are never cooperative.
-
So what did you have to do be allowed to ride out there? Tags, insurance???
-
Yeah I am control riding this weekend at Putnam on the new 1k..
-
Hah... You got to be close enough to kick first.... Wait till I pass you on the 1k...
-
Well cheepo get one and help him..... If I was in Columbus I would help ya, If you want to get the tools all you need is a dremel (grinding wheel), RK or Motion Pro chain tool, and a pair vice grips or pliers. Make sure the clip (if clip style) is in secure.

That is the type of responses we give all questions we give newbs who wonder in to the Squid Farm and ask questions on Gixxer.com Thanks for the setup..

Yeah I saw that 2050 mod but decided not stay away as the delay between the 2050ohm and the Flux build up is substantial. Plus I never got a Round Tuit to finish the mounting of the Capacitor box so it rattled. Now I have done the blinker fluid and it is big improvement, but make sure you keep an eye on the signals Mhz output if it goes above 100 it can short out your Rectifier..

If he can run 33s that should get him in the top 5 or so I think.... Drew is one of my favorite riders to have pass me and follow. His body position is a work of art. I keep waiting for him to drag Helmet.... Good luck up there Drew.

No it isn't. It has been studied that certain paints are faster. Lighter colors are faster cause the Pigmentation is less per square inch so thus is ligher. It also depends on the clear coat as that has a direct effect to the drag coefficient (studies on waxing vs no waxing to the drag coefficient). The Rim tape though it adds a litte weight it does help the gyroscopic effect keeping the bike stable at high speeds. Also the ability of the tape to cut through the wind aslo lowers the drag on the wheel thus allowing it to spin easier thus equaling more HP at the rear tire (the ultimate goal). Don't get me started on the motor. I wonder if they have added the new J-Force power bands and Exhaust internals....

up until 2005 it was 15 minute job, including opening the box and package. The 05 models the mirrors have the turn signals in them and the wires go through the windscreen and fairing stay. Then the connections to the damn Signals are between the headlight and the fairing so the only way to get the turn signals (mirrors) disconnected is to unbolt the front upper fairing and drop it down to get to it.
-
Some, but not as much as that license plate holder on the back. That is good for 5 HP and 2% less drag coefficient.
-
Well that depends on the bolt spacing... I hate signals in Mirrors..... Just to change a windscreen I dang near had to take my whole upper off the bike....
