  1. Do you think the squirrel they got riding that thing can do 160 around 270 w/o issue? I'd run him in my FJ I am that confident at the first clover leaf, he'd ball it into a pop can...
  2. I've seen tons of guys ride LOADS of wheelies on 50cc scooters. After reading half this thread, I suggest one of those and leave the big bikes for the adults...
  3. What do you mean? It's a bone stock GSXR. Same flavor as any other GSXR out there in stock trim. I like the tee and shorty gloves...
  4. It's most likely for shows and events... Or, it may be ridden by a squid cop like Obetz has... It's funny that these places have these things when riders aren't properly trained to ride them in any way. But hey, what do I know...
  5. Suzuki doesn't make a "police" version of the bike they have. It was made from a Suzuki... BMW however does do this. These programs have been in place for sometime. Even when I was in a shop. There are some heavy stipulations and hoops to jump through to get one...
  6. I'm not a bike defender, but a realist. Why do you believe money isn't an objective arguement? You can afford a Ferrari like this? Nope. Can you afford a GSXR1000? Yup. Getting the performance found within the motorcycle is amazing. It's relatively cheap and what you get is amazing power to weight ratio which isn't going to be found in a car until you spend 6 digits... and more... Point is that you can use the Ferrari as your choice. But realize just how amazing these bikes are for the money. Relax killer... You can priase the cages on some tuner forums and be in wonderland. By the way, a CTSV? Really?
  7. The track is in rough shape, but to crash at 100 mph on the back straight isn't that fast there. Guys are still hitting 1:07s and around there at the facility... Well over 100 in the back. That hump or dip has been there for years. Try holding on to a race bike while tank slapping over that dip... In the pitch black night! Can be done, has been done and will continue to be done... Don't let it deter you from going up there... The pic of the guy that crashed is a sign that the suit was inferior or didn't fit well... To cause that kind of burn and damage is not typical. Nelson is fine at track day pace and even at FT race pace. It's rough. Don't walk the track at all even though you are allowed. It will mentally hose you for sure... Not sugar coating it as I have my own opinion, but for what you are going to do, it'll be fun for sure. Just ride, have fun, listen to the coaches they have and enjoy.
  8. Right up until you crash your "nuts" into that guard rail...
  9. Sure, you are right in certain regards, but understand that for under $12k, we can get a machine that takes a car that costs 10x that do beat... And even at that, not many can pull it off... This case? Sure. But one, the cost is substantial. Cage lovers hate the idea that we can buy such performance for such little cost...
  10. Good suggestion. Again, a shop that is dedicated to this type of thing is important. Measuring sag as noted by Flounder is an example of even though people have track time under their belts, doesn;t mean they know what they are doing. Professionals are the ones to go to. Sag measurement is different and the understanding of suspension will vary amongst people. Adding trail, looking for things that can better what you are doing, etc are all things that basic knowledge will not cover. Call a guy that knows like Red did here. Now, the 2-3 guys is what I suggest. One measures and one holds. Again, 35-38mm sag is what we tend to suggest these days. The older school idea was about 30mm. More now. There is also more trail needed on the newer generation machines. I have zero clue on bikes like Ducs, etc. Hell, I am still learning the RC8... BUT, many guys are using too little sag... Some don't know how to even measure it. Some guys do it differently, but get the same numbers... Again, someone that does it for a living is a great place to start. Here in CBus? Call someone. There isn't a suspension specialist around here... Call Reuben. He may not have the numbers for your bike, but he can give you basics. Thermosman (T-Man) can probably find notes on that bike as he's been doing this for that long. There's options. In this biz, opinions are like assholes... You know what I mean? Your battle is to sift through it all and find the right answers...
  11. Not. Coming back from Cali that morning...
  12. He didn't race with me last year. He raced as a Novice... Facts are as straight as an arrow, Rusty... He just started racing and I don't think I would go to a guy unless he is VERY knowledgable about suspension. Carr, Reuben, T-Man, etc. are guys I would get proper info/work at that price. While I agree about what you are saying about Jason's prices and such, he still knew about suspension. Didn't agree with his prices and methods at times, but was knowledged. I understand you were happy, but the price and the background isn't there. Again, he started racing last year. Please do not say he was racing with experts and running at the pace they were... We all start somewhere, but to be doing what he is doing based on the limited experience he has? $75 is way over the top. Again, Bennett, Agnes and others are WAY more qualified to be doing setup techniques... Put it this way, would you take your Ducati to a dealership with a kid fresh out of school or a guy who spent the last 10 years with Ducati Corse working on the race team?
  13. Just ask one of us. I will be directing that event, I think... Just ask me after Rider's Meeting.
  14. Not to bust Brian's balls, either, but I don't think I'd go to him for setup info... I certainly wouldn't pay $75 for a novice racer with less than a year's experience setting my stuff up. Call Reuben at 35 Motorsports or someone like that. There's enough experienced riders out there to help. I saw Agnes was there - I'd suggest him.
  15. $75 to set sag and turn knobs? No way... Hob- Grab two buddies. Set sag around 35-38mm. Get the suspension to where compression and rebound acts similar. It's easy and no need to spend $75... No offense, Rusty...
  16. Forget them all. 990 SMR. Decision made... Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  17. Oh, and a note about our guy Ty Howard running his and the German series runners. Bike can easily get 190 to the ground in a dependable race manner...
  18. Technically speaking, you should drill a hole and use plugs in case of rain. Allows the water to drain instead of being held in the pan... Racer 101 stuff...
  19. Seeing that's a KX450F and not a CRF450X, I'd hope he'd be suited to ride an MX track. An X and true off road bike like an enduro set machine is going to be less suited for any aggressive MX riding... A GNCC bike MAYBE. There's PLENTY of Enduro events. As stated above, Aces Enduro Series is a great place to go...
  20. Again, that's the standard RC8. The R is 180 at the crank... You typically lose no more than 12% with a chain drive. It's more like 10%...
  21. Yup. No riding if raining. Liability issue... We actually had a pick up T-bone an Eclipse yesterday and we just felt that with the conditions and visibility issues in the rain, we wouldn't bet on the side of a cage driver...
  22. Ooops... You know Floundy. Gets me wound up and I ain't too bright to begin with...
  23. GUYS! The KTM S-R-E-E-T demos are saturday and sunday. If you want track time on a KTM, Monday and Tuesday are those events with our Ride Orange event with Mid-Ohio. I believe the only spots left are for Tuesday... NO TRACK RIDING SAT/SUN. As stated, about a 20 minute loop in the back country of the Lexington area. Great sceneic rides and nice roads. No track...
