Echoing what Rusty has already said. If you FEEL you are an "A" rider, get an evaluation. Simple. If you are as good as you feel, that will be an easy transition. We have to start somewhere. We cannot just take your word. You may be accurate in what you say, but the next guy? Not so much. We have to set a baseline. Once established,m it will be easier... But to start, that is where we are picking. So, scenario #1: You rode 3 track days at the "A" level and we are asking for 4. NOTE: This is not finalized and simply a number for my point... You really want to be in "A" Group. You have to sign up in Intermediate. GET THERE EARLY!!! If "I" Group sells out, it sells out. You don't get a freebie bump to "A" Group. So, getting early is a benefit... So you get there, get signed up... Grab an "I" Coach and ask for an evaluation. If you are at the level you feel you are and show that to be the case, you will then get an evaluation from the "A" Coach in the "A" Group. If he/she says everything is okie dokie, you get in to "A" for the remainder of the year unless someone feels otherwise and bumps you down. Remember, there are going to be certain days where the pace will be based on the group and if all are top level guys, the pace may be such where we bump guys down. And up!!! It's all constant... Now, scenario #2: Same deal as before. You get an evaluation from the "I" Coach. Riding with the "A" Coach, he feels that you just are not ready. May be that day's pace. May be that a few things stand out that needs worked on and can be better worked on in the lower group. You are remaining in "I" Group... Now, doesn't have to be because of this scenario. But, everyone can get help one on one from ANY coach at ANY TIME. You just need to ask. So in scenario #2, you want to grab an "I" Coach and have them help you on the things needing sharpened as mentioned by the "A" Coach. Work on the day getting that sorted and have another evaluation. It may be end of day or even the next event. But you can be evaluated any time and multiple times. Just make sure that you work on the issues and get them sorted before you ask. Don't expect to fix the stuff in one session... In the end, it is about safety. Not ego.

Jacob- I have three sets of TXC. I wear a size 11 tennis shoe and they fit exceptionally well. I need to sell them all. One set is the mid grade version with Ducati branded but minimal. All black with red accents. The other two are the latest gen R-S2 Evo. Smaller toe box and better fit with the inner booty. The one set is the 2015 Ducati branded one. White with red accents... The other pair is the new all white TCX R-S2 Evo. No branding. I also have a 2014 generation R-S2 but has a larger tow box. Ground up toe slider (Thanks to a hyper motard :P) I haven't really looked at pricing these yet. But am open to offers. I can get pics soon.

I am only posting pics of the stuff I have right now for sale. May have more coming shortly... I am selling three Bell Star Carbons. ALL ARE SIZE MEDIUM. Anyone who has purchased one of these from me knows I am selling lightly/gently used helmets. I love these things and have been with Bell since the start. I think I am on my fifth year? Maybe longer... Anyways, great fit and these are the newer gen that have the updated interiors. All three are about the same age and have been cycled as to not wear one all the time. The prices are pretty fair. But, I am open to offers. I am in Gahanna now and more central to meet and drop off. ALL THREE HAVE BAGS, TEAR OFF DARK SMOKE SHIELDS AND ONE CLEAR SHIELD. Decals will remain - that's up to you to remove. Suggest a heat gun as to not remove the clear coating if applicable. All have the aero wing on the back and come with manuals and oil bottle. Group shot: Back side: Helmet #1: Asking $200.00 Airtrix Laguna Helmet #2: Asking $250 Star Carbon Raceday Helmet #3: Asking $275 Star Carbon Pinned Black I will have a couple pairs of TCX boots, a couple suits to add as I get into this more. Making some changes and will know more this coming week!!!

Ok... Rusty has given some great info. That's awesome! However, a few things... "A" Group riders will be evaluated for proposed entry into that group. If you are an expert licensed racer and provide that license at registration, you are permitted to sign up. HOWEVER, you are still being watched and we will bump you down. Point is that no matter what the card says, you have to follow rules... Those that ran "A" last year - you need to run a set number of days in "A" group to be permitted in and sign up the first day. This prevents that one guy in "I" Group that didn't have room and bumped up to "A" that was not filled so they could ride. We are looking at QTY (4) or QTY (5) days to be allowed in to sign. "I" group will be broken down into two different levels. Think Novice/Inter level and Int/Advanced level. This will be based on the number of days that you have participated in our track days at the "I" level. The second level or more advanced "I" rider will include those that may have ridden a1-3 days or so in "A" last year with us and of course, Novice race licensed riders for evaluation. It's pretty simple - you wanna ride "A" group? Get with the "i" instructor, have them follow and lead and such a session. If they feel you are ready, they will talk to the lead in "A" group. That person will assign you an "A" instructor and you will have a session of evaluation before we confirm or deny the advancement. Also, second level "I" riders are eligible for Twilight events. This will give our "A" riders comfort knowing that an "I" rider at Twilights is a rider that has the track time, is a more advanced "I" rider and will be a safe addition to the event. We were getting too many first time "I" riders or those that rode "I" only a few times and were a safety concern mixed with much faster riders. Lap times do not measure everything. So everyone please keep that out of the conversation. Smoothness, consistency, predictability and ability are the measures. If you are upset at the fact that you have to ride "I" instead of the "A" group you rode last year, understand that this is a safety issue. We need these days to be less crash oriented and more fun oriented. Many riders that should be bumped down or even up are based on safety of those around them and themselves. Plus, you will have more fun riding in a group that better suits your own ability. The sessions will be the same, the day will start a little differently as we have some more changes that I do not think we should discuss yet. But, in the end I can promise that we are looking at this like a business. We have a product that sooooo many other companies have available. How do we stack up? We feel that we were slacking and that the quality of the product was dropping. Changes are always hard to take at the outset, but in the end, I think the changes we are discussing are for the better and above all, SAFER!!! Think about this. You make a small error in a golf game with your buddies. Maybe you break a car window or a house window on the course. In this sport, a small error can lead to a resting spot in a pinewood box. Much different. We need to make these changes to prevent that from happening. Plus, the quality of the event and desire to be at these events will increase. See ya out there!!!

I really doubt WERA does a National event there again. What Evelyn did for us as racers was amazing. She stepped up and the likes of Sean and Jim supported it along with the boys at AMA even on the VMD weekend. The suck part is that decision cost WERA a boat load of money. They really cannot gamble like that and I wouldn't fault them for saying good bye to it. But, fingers are crossed...

VMD for sure even though the big twins will crush everyone. I almost got Paul on his 1199, but it is a tough battle for smaller bikes and equal riders... Trying to coordinate doing some ARMHA this year at Road America with maybe Carr and anyone else. Would like to do some extra track days at the new Beaver and maybe BG down south. Hoping to have funds and time to do Jennings also in March. It all depends on having the kids and of course work...

So, bought a 1991 Honda CRX for the kid and we have changed to a different direction and need to sell everything quick. I have the following and selling as a whole or in sections. Prefer to not sell the engine/tranny combo apart though... 1991 CRX HF (Not the Si - this is the more fuel efficient brother) -200k -Standard -Si interior - seats, panels, steering wheel. -Aftermarket exhaust. Although previous owner welded it and it is bent such that it rubs once in a while and vibrates the car from touching the underside -Stock wheels and tires. Tires are nothing to write home about but will work. -Rebuilt title. It hit a deer and was totalled. Radiator, fenders and hood were replaced. This old a car totals easy. The good: -Si interior in great shape. VERY clean -Runs good. Straight and is fun to drive. -We have some spare parts but nothing huge. Just little stuff. -New radiator -Newer gas tank The bad: -Was in a small crash. Took out driver's side headlight, fender and bent the corner of the hood. Easy fixes. Bolt and go. We have a spare passenger headlight bracketed in now (Looks funny) to conform with state law of needing two headlights. Fender is bent back and hood to work. Works fine. New radiator as well. This is the HF. Not the zippy and faster Si. Gets awesome mpg. I am asking $1200 OBO. Note the OBO. Not going to give it away. Guys are getting $500 for non running shells on these. I am flexible. I also have: Honda vtec D16V6 motor. Is unassembled. The reason being is it was going to be built up and slapped into the CRX. Here's it's specs: -Cylinders were bored and honed by a professional performance shop in CBus. -New pistons. These were bought with the idea we were going to build it as a non turbo but add one later. A bit overkill for a non turbo, but ability to add later -New rods for pistons -New rings -New gaskets -New rod bolts -New head bolts -New valve springs, keepers, etc. -Stock everything else. Has everything you need to build it and complete it. With exception of the oil pan. In the move after the divorce, it apparently went missing. Easy to find and I think the HF pan fits right up. If not, CHEAP!! Includes wiring harness and ECU. Has everything from dipstick to oil cap. Alternator, plastic belt covers, etc., etc. I also have included with the motor, the matching transmission. IT HAS A NEW CLUTCH. Basically, an easy swap with some gains. Asking $900 Finally, I have a set of Konig 4x100 15" wheels for the Honda cars out there. BRAND NEW WITH TIRES. We bought them and he has maybe 500 miles on them. Come with lugs also. These are the Konig Backbones. Retail was about $900 with taxes and warranty through Discount Tire. Asking $500. SOOOOOOOO... Buy everything OBO and as individuals. Or buy it all for $2000 pretty firm. I have the title and everything can be seen in Marion or I meet you. Car drives of course, but no tags so I would prefer to meet closer to Marion. PM me your email and I will send pics. Need the cash pretty badly so, we need it gone.

Clinton County and ask for Mike in service. He's a solid Yamaha tech and they do great work. And as far as recall, if there is issue with other things during the tear down and inspection, they will cover under warranty. As far as lemon law, it has to be out of commission for 30 days plus to qualify or three times in service for the same thing. Otherwise, you won't get it handled...

Here's my opinion for what it's worth. This whole "You should get a newer bike" sounds silly. I've seen plenty of guys on VINTAGE bikes and bikes that are older and more antiquated than the average do JUST FINE. Don't go blowing your money on a new bike until you get to a point where you feel that you think it is time FOR YOU. It's like when you get on the internet and post a pic and ask all the arm chair jockies about your riding style. Makes me giggle like a school girl. Get some solid street rubber like mentioned earlier and make sure the suspension is maybe fresh with clean oil, oil level and all the needed items like a proper tightened chain (Number one issue at the track), all mechanicals in working and safe order and hit the track! 16" tires are hard. But I've seen guys with tire sizes that are hard to find and they do well enough. Plus, starting out and on that machine, you aren't going to be burning tires up like Rossi during Q1. Get it ready to go, come join the fun and stop by and say hello and ask all the questions you want. That's what all of us are here for. And some of us won't pressure you into silly things and help you succeed with what you have.

Looks like there's a new Ducati club in town....

Guys are a bunch of hacks. Love the guys, like the focus and think it'll be a huge success in CBus and surrounding!! -
As the title states. Fits all 899, 1199, 1299 models and probably some others but you'd have to check and see. BRAND NEW!!! Still wrapped... I can provide pics, but you should know what it is. These go for anywhere around $250 to $350 it seems with shipping in the realm of $40+. MAKE AN OFFER. Need to get a new carbon fiber 675R front fender so, you have one of those in new like condition, I'd trade even up... Otherwise, for sale. THIS IS THE GENUINE DUCATI PERFORMANCE FENDER!! NOT A KNOCK OFF!! FOUND ON THE S and R MODELS

Also, the US is typically the largest location for retail sales for each manufacturer and I would think that the OEMs would push for two rounds to be here. The teams, riders and manufacturers love it here and to access the potential exposure for each brand is higher. Seems really odd. I think that maybe Indy wasn't too upset and really didn't care one way or another and didn't fight to retain it as much. They can get a bigger return I bet on car races there. Opens up for a lot of series in road race configuration. Probably Indy cars twice and even NASCAR twice. Those attendance figures alone would probably double that of MotoGP and they'd net a bigger return. So for them, they probably said "Bummer, but no worries. Good luck" when approached...
-
This is puzzling. COTA is an amazing facility. World class track and infrastructure. However, the attendance is shit. Falls each year and the track hasn't made a profit since it has opened. The track is better though and really must be the draw. Indy has an amazing center of activity in comparison. More accessible, easier to get in and out, logistically, a better location and gets the attendance and increases each year. The track is not a great thing, though... My confusion is why they would drop Indy vs. COTA. Indy is a profit center for the race org. They certainly net better returns there than at COTA. The history lends itself to be a prestigious event. The access by population is easier. It has a better draw for entertainment. I just don't see that if they think it is too late or that the US doesn't need two rounds, why drop it and not COTA? Laguna had similar issues where it lacked the attendance (WSBK is a joke in terms of attendance) and is horrible as far as in and out, what to do around there, etc. But it is CA and the access to the OEMs, stars, population, etc is higher. But they axed it and yet COTA seemingly sharing a lot of the negatives outside the glorious facility is still around... I understand why they do not do back to back on the basis of transporting and logistics for everyone as they transport everything in cabbage cases. But everyone has an OEM headquarters in the US and could access the transportation abilities of semi trucks, etc easily. Yamaha can access their show rigs to transport I am sure, Aprilia, Ducati, etc., etc... Seems odd. Accolades and increases in attendance and almost double of the other track and yet you get dropped... I think it may lie more in the marketing and support COTA has vs Indy...

Stay away from big box store brands. Look for recognized names like Cannondale, Trek, Gary Fisher, Specialized, etc. These brands can have older yet decent shape used bikes via C/L as mentioned. If you are riding paved paths and roads, just get a hybrid as mentioned or even a cruiser. No need for fancy MTB or road race styles. However, there are a few HT MTB bikes out there for the cheap and slap on some skinny street tires and have at it. Then, when you decide you want to have fun at somewhere like Alum locally, slap the MTB knobs on and take a tour of the paths around here. MTB for me is one of the most awesome things I have done. I suck at it and while I appreciate bicycles like motorcycles, it is a sport that for whatever reason compels me to push harder and harder and I feel great afterwards.

Nannycam type thingy for real estate showings - easier than I thought
Moto-Brian replied to Josh1234's topic in Dumpster
We are having a really tough time selling our house in Galion right now and an idea was getting direct feedback from potential buyers. However... Let's say I did the camera and heard things that I could possibly fix or address. What then? You have no way of reaching out to the prospective buyers in any way without going around the realtor. And, if you could, you are paying a realtor to do that job and if they are not doing it well enough, you need a new one that does. I'm not against the idea simply because of the fact that they could give some feedback towards things that CAN be changed for the next potential buyer. Like those shows where they get feedback from buyers and then change the house and have those people back to review them. I like that aspect of it... -
Hoping to bring Jr. with me for his first ever track day!

2003 SV650 track bike, with or without street parts
Moto-Brian replied to niles's topic in LBTS GLWS
Niles- Sorry we didn't make it over. With all the red flags and waiting, I didn't want to get caught off guard. My son was a little upset at me and went over and I think it was in the trailer locked up. I think we want the bike. And I know I've been saying the money difference is the ultimate issue, but we are trying to sort details before I take him back for the weekend. I'll keep you posted... -
The problem is that if the rider doesn't know what they are doing, they cannot learn from mistakes... The issue is that it was a very slow speed loss and they simply trailed the brakes or maybe panicked (more likely) as they thought they were in too deep and grabbed the brake. It doesn't take but a feather touch to cause the front to load and then lose it...

brakes. Not cold tires, stones or losing the rear... All brake and rider error.

Buying a New Bike,... A Little Input From All?
Moto-Brian replied to katanafreak's topic in Daily Ride
People who are telling you the costs of maintaining the Duc is high aren't educated on the current crop stuff. The intervals and parts costs are in line with the OEM Japanese products out there now these days. So don't fear the people that think it is still 1998... That being said, there are two ways to look at this whole thing. You should first compare the 899 to the 675R and not the standard. They are more in line with one another in terms of price and of course ability. The 675R will have the cool bits like Ohlins and better Brembos than the 899. Better rotors also... The Brembos on the 899 are not the same and are a lower class. HOWEVER... Do not for a moment think it is under powered in braking!!! Just the factual stuff... My personal opinion is that the 899 is a 750 class bike more than the 675R is. But I think the 675R handles like it's on rails. I had a bone stock 675R at Mid-O last week with just slicks and race brake pads. Really an amazing bike and considering a bunch of factors as to why I was slower than normal, the bike was solid. The 899 just has power!!! It handles great as well. I'd say similar and maybe with a tad of tuning it in, it could be really great! They are very similar yet very different. I think they both are hot and I think they both will reward you. I think both sound amazing. The triple is great with a system or slip-on. The 899 sounds mean as all get out even with the stock mufflers. It's all what YOU want. Ride both back to back and see what YOU think. I would say they both will amaze you. -
I didn't say you weren't focused... No matter what you may feel, it is a distraction and there is a section of the one vid where there were three or so slower bikes on the straight while you were passing and pushing the button... It only takes a millisecond... Hence my sketchy comment. It also was pushed in Thunder Valley as well... Seems to be a lot of work vs. something that could be tripped with a beam or something that could be activated by a button on the handlebar area... Don't take things so seriously. I was just asking... Looks like you had fun. See ya next time.
-
RHill- Whats that box you keep messing with on the bike? Looks super sketchy - especially in traffic to be messing while trying to stay focused ahead? Just wondering - not being critical... I don't think I saw much of anyone Sunday and Monday. I didn't ride much Sunday - just 1-1/2 sessions to adjust rearsets and such. Monday was better, but it wasn't until the last two sessions did I start figuring stuff out. But next time, you guys should stop by and say hello! I passed Taft a few times, but never saw him off track.
