  1. wheels, forks, and some beefing up of the transmission were the major changes between 93 and 94. the side-stand and footpegs are probably the same, but check the part number of any of the fiche sites to confirm.
  2. Your friends' parents didn't become millionaires by investing in 23 yr olds who want to be in the music industry... I would get their money in-hand before you do anything.
  3. Has anyone dropped a larger engine into a Gs500 frame? I know the F2 with a 900cc engine was somewhat common. A similar swap here would be fun.
  4. Not in the least. There is no duty to retreat in your own home unless the person attacking you also resides there. The more interesting question is if I invite you in, and then 10 minutes later, how long do I have to give you to make it to the door before I start shooting at your back? I.e. when do you become a trespasser? (Sounds dumb, but this happens somewhat frequently with domestic violence gone bad. Whoever moved out during the last fight shows up drunk, and their ex is dumb enough to let them into the house/apartment. They get into a fight and the ex is told to leave, but refuses or resists. Can I use deadly force to expel someone I only recently declared as a trespasser when they were previously a guest?)

hmmm... any interest in trading for a track bike? I'd have to think on this one myself, but I'll save myself the trouble if you just want cash.
  6. Just out of curiosity, what kind of backstop are you shooting into? I'd like to eventually have some land where I can ride, shoot, paintball, etc., but the logistics of creating a suitable backstop have always struck me as somewhat cost-prohibitive, unless there's a natural elevation change that makes such precautions unnecessary. In the alternative, I was reading either North Ridgeville or North Olmstead's bow-hunting ordinance, and they require ALL shooting to be done from a stand that is 8' or taller. I presume this is to create a downward trajectory for all arrows, and thus make over-flight a non-issue. Why wouldn't the same principle work for firearms? Building an 8' platform is probably less expensive than moving several tons of dirt to create an artificial backstop, no? just thinking out loud I guess.

    first gun

I haven't shot one, but these get great reviews as a cheap alternative: Phoenix Arms HP22-A You can find the "range kit" (pictured) with the carry barrel and the target barrel included for well under $200. pretty awesome value based on the reviews I have read.

    first gun

a few companies make revolvers with interchangeable cylinders. 22lr for the range, and 22 magnum for leaving in the dresser. I have considered these for a small carry weapon, but they're shockingly expensive for a small gun. That has always confused me, actually... How can some .22's be so expensive? Especially revolvers...

    first gun

I will immediately concede that .22lr is not ideal for home defense, but it has more positives than negatives. To name a few: -cheap, so you can actually shoot regularly. -no recoil, which means your follow up shots go where you intend -wont go def shooting it at a bad guy in close quarters -if you do miss, it's not going through 3 walls an killing your neighbor -hi cap magazines Ugly a they are, the 10/22 based handgun will fit a 25 round ruger banana mag. You can land half your shots and have 12 rounds in an intruder without reloading. I like that.
  10. Big hp cruisers are heavy, and the gear ratios just aren't right for sportbike like acceleration I did a demo ride on a Yamaha Raider (or whatever the 1800+ cc model is...) and it felt a out the same acceleration wise as the EX500 I rode to the event. The Internet confirmed my but dyno. The extra 1300 cc's make the Raider about 2 tenths of a second quicker to 60 (an advantage it gives up within a quarter mile.) With all that said, I vote for some kind of standard like an FZ1 or something similar.
  11. With the chain at proper tension, pull on the chain at 3:00 on the rear sprocket. It should have no more than 3mm of play. If it does, either the chain or sprockets are worn beyond spec. You could push it to 5mm I you're cheap and on a lower powered bike in less danger of snapping a chain, but for $150, why risk it?
  12. Non story unless you're anti gun. A friend of mine works in the Elyria prosecutors office. I doubt there will be charges. Civil suit; however, that's anyone's guess.
  13. Blowing up shit must be more profitable than I realize. IF my wife insisted I give up riding, I'd be selling it.
  14. I don't mind being lapped, except when it's a 2-wave start. If the expert leaders are going to lap me - then fine. They shouldn't need a 50 yard head-start to do it... And for whatever reason, it always seems like I get lapped just as I'd be starting my final lap of the race, so I get shorted a full lap because the experts pass me in the(ir) final turn, and then beat me to the line. That's most annoying when you're chasing someone, and he beats the experts to the line, but you don't. Your race is over, and all you can do is watch him run away, knowing that you could have at least made a few last-ditch efforts at gaining one more position. 2-wave starts suck.
  15. If it matters to anyone, Will said he isn't interested in trades. Cash talks. Hilarious email address too.
  16. damn, that would have been perfect... I may have been able to hang onto you guys. I've been stuck in the high :04's (although I didn't run a timer last time I was there on fresh tires) and racing against you guys would have been a good reason to take some risks.
  17. what kind of times were you guys turning? really wish I'd been able to come out and race on a track where I have some balls
  18. I emailed him. What the hell, right?
  19. ask him if he wants to trade for a 600RR race bike
  20. I raced on Q2's last year. Great tires. I did track days on Pilot Powers prior to using Q2's. Also great tires. I can only personally vouch for them being good up to a fast "I" pace, but I'm sure they would have been fine in Advanced as well. I know many of the STT coaches used to run the rears in "A" because they were cheaper, and lasted a bit longer. No sport-biased tire is going to last longer than a sport-touring tire though.
  21. Mike - did this get destroyed yet? I have an extension cord that I can sacrifice to buckshot and will bring the generator Set the timer for 99 minutes and see how long it lasts? We need to get 10 guys together and just rent out the sportsmans range at A&A It's $200 a day. They WILL double-book if you don't put down a deposit, but I'd make the trip down to do so. I also have 2 EZ-ups that I can bring, in addition to their crappy covered areas.
  22. Law enforcement has gotten better about protecting UC's in the wake of some serious whistle-blowing on their prior lack of concern. Read "no angel" by Jay Dobyns. He spends 2 years under cover an was quite close to becoming a "full patch" hells angels member. It's a decent read if you can get past all the bragging he does in the first couple chapters. The primary charges against the angels were also illegal gun sales and I a lesser extent, drug sales. RICO is what really fucks gangs though. It makes crimes that would ordinarily be probation offenses into felonies of the first degree.

    iPad Mini

And if that's how you use it, then it's great. But it is not a computer. the iPad has made me consider moving to less powerful laptop though. I'm in the market for a light-duty laptop during black Friday this year (want a new computer for the bar exam. crashes happen. crashes suck). the iPad is a good browser and media player, but I still need something with word-processing and spreadsheet abilities. The iPad would be more for games, movies, porn, music, and browsing.
  24. but then all i end up with is a frame that can only be used for the track. Nothing to sell... :-/ That's why i'm shying away from this. Selling the track bike and buying a less expensive street bike is more approachable financially.
  25. That's actually encouraging. Where I'm worried is about the unknowns on my current bike. I believe the full wiring harness is there, but I'm not sure... I'm also waffling on whether it would be easiest (cheapest) to find a frame for sale, or to find a crashed bike with a good frame and end up with more stuff to sell, but fewer things to swap. ultimately, getting cash would be best...
