    Katana Hate?

Lighter than an EX300 and more power than an EX650. I badly want it.

    Katana Hate?

KTM engine, but it's an American company building these. 276 lbs. It's the perfect track bike. Perfect. http://kraemer-motorcycles.com/en/ edit - actually, it appears to be a German company. I was deceived. Still maintain my perfect track bike claim though.
  3. I put in 9 miles on the spinbike. Pulled into the garage without hitting my bicycle. That's all I've got. Trying to do a group ride near Nelson ledges 3/4/17. 30 mile all-weather.

Harley Davison has an amazing public image, and an excellent marketing department. They have convinced everyone that Harleys are manly, American, freedom machines, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a communist pussy. How many people do you know who own a Harley? I can think of fewer than 10. Hoe many people do you know who own a Harley t-shirt, pillow, blanket, vest, adult diaper... I know a hundred.
  5. Tuna had a bandit 400 for sale a year or so ago. He liked it.
  6. That guy with the 300 who wanted more power should snatch this up. A bandit is a more comfortable katana, and doesn't mislead you with bodywork. This is the original FZ09. A useful street bike for the masses.

And as his name may or may not convey, he knows a little about katanas. Enough not to bash them.

Where is the OP located? kanatuna always has cheap bikes through his shop. Most are a little rough, but they run, and they're priced accordingly. Brian won't bullshit you about condition, and he's well known by several members, plus has a brick-and-mortar shop with his name on it and a reputation to uphold. Give Tuna your phone number and a spending limit, and I'm sure he would be able to find something. Of course he's not in the business of working for free, but he's also not going to mark shit up by thousands...

    Katana Hate?

And someone will buy it, because the dealer will finance it.
  10. Is anyone ice riding yet? i'm about to leave to go snow biking. Last week's fat tire race was postponed due to lack of snow, and squishy ground. Slow start to winter.
  11. This poor guy picked the wrong time of year to join this site!
  12. Lee from OMRL has an old XL650 for sale. Not 100% sure it's street legal, but I could ask.
  13. I can put you up for a night or two. Seven hills is a short drive from my house. I joke that our "summer home" is in seven hills, because my buddy who lives there has a pool, a kegerator, and 3 spare bedrooms...
  14. Josh Herrin can't be more than 160, and he does pretty well on a 1000. i would never tell anyone not to get stronger, but you don't need to be adding mass.
  15. I have mentioned this before, but I was on the 7th floor of my freshman dorm on 9/11/01. Multiple fighters broke the sound barrier leaving Wright Patterson. They were plenty high, and the building still swayed. I momentarily thought we were being attacked instead of defended.
  16. Yeah, lack of daylight has been a real drag... I have a decent location for that, but I have to drive to it, and by the time I'm home from work, it's pretty dark.
  17. I guess I just value ...value over form. I have seen some damn comfortable non-toyhauler trailers. Heat, AC, comfy bedding, TV/stereo, but all that packs up and you can still maintain the utility. You do lose the utility of a kitchen and bathroom, but I've yet to find a toyhauler kitchen that was really suitable to really cook. even if I won the lottery, I think I'd get a 7x24 gooseneck or something, and roll with 6 bikes and 3 friends.
  18. A good canvas tent costs $600 and will hold heat and/or AC pretty damn well. That is the route I am planning to take at some point. http://www.kodiakcanvas.com/10-x-14-ft-flex-bow-canvas-tent-basic/ Aerobed brand air mattresses (or anything with integrated inflation) plus a window AC unit (cut a hole at the base of a wall to fit your AC unit, then wrap it snug with a ratchet strap) makes a tent damn comfortable. I spent 24 hours waiting in line for a hotel lottery (college. spring break.) in February. Someone had a large, old, canvas tent. We had a small propane heater, and were totally comfortable despite the gusting winds and sub-zero temps. The weight of the tent makes wind (and daylight) a non-issue. They ARE heavy though. Like 80 lbs. More if it rains.
  19. This all sounds totally reasonable to me. People start losing me when they're making payments on a hauler, a bigger truck to pull the hauler, and a bike that is sharper than they will ever be. I love racing. I love hanging at the track. I don't love making racing more expensive. If you're really riding 2-3 weekends/month with 2-3 buddies splitting costs, then I start to understand. I just Look back at the 80's and 90's paddock pics, and I see a lot more tents than trailers. A lot more bikes too. Wondering if the two things are related.
  20. I know a lot of you guys are into racing a lot deeper than I am these days, but it seems like people's plans and expenses are expanding faster than the universe... Do you guys ever take a step back and just think about going back to packing the bike in the bed of the truck? I was pushing the wife to endorse a 6x12 enclosed purchase, but I backed off when I started trying to rationalize the cost to her. Smaller investments (nicer generator, high quality sleeping pad, etc.) made way more sense - and I can use the trailer money to build a bigger shed/garage.
  21. Professional stereotypes are based in fact, but there are honest mechanics. There are smart and hard working trash collectors. There are even strippers paying their way through college. Its not unreasonable to believe there are honest prosecutors.
  22. My current job. Youre trying to tell me that I, and all my coworkers are "just out to win." I can unequivocally tell you that our boss has fired and will fire people for that attitude. We are mandated to pursue justice and present the truth - whether it helps our case or not. I cant stop you from generalizing, and there are certainly some assholes who fit the mold you describe, but to claim that everything is an injustice is patently false.
  23. Don't you also own a 700 or 900ss? i've never really thought about it until now, but buells and ducs were somewhat similar while Erik was chained to the air-cooled HD twins. Internally, I know the engines had little in common, but same number of cyclinders, same basic configuration, air-cooled. Trelis frame versus gas-carrying twin-spar(?), but both use different styles than the Japanese bikes. Both brands handled better than they accelerated as well (on the air-cooled models at least) i'm not that surprised you liked it. I would rock An XB9 if they weren't so expensive...
