    Senate Bill 5

interesting theory there. No doubt a half ton would be replaced more often, but it also wouldn't cost nearly as much as the huge dump trucks most cities use. Probably better on gas too, and easily more maneuverable. Until you have an operating cost per mile analysis, you're both just spit-balling though.

I think they should be disciplined with docked pay, or loss of vacation days proportionate to the number of "sick" days they took. I'm surprised the doctors writing fake sick notes aren't taking heat for this as well. I don't know the rules of ethics for doctors beyond "do no harm," but writing fraudulent sick notes doesn't sound like something the medical board would endorse.

    Senate Bill 5

I wouldn't say "brainless," but I think unionizing is a general admission by the older workers that there's no legitimate reason for them to continue getting raises. to continue with the snow-plow driver example; a driver with 5 years experience is definitely more skilled than a guy with 1 year experience. The more experienced driver deserves to be paid more. but what is that first driver actually learning after those first 5 years? I don't think a driver with 10 years experience is any safer, more efficient, or generally "better" at driving a snow plow - so why should he be paid more? Just for sticking around? I don't like that one bit.
  4. the 2x6 under the center stand is no longer necessary. The bike was raised up for easier turn-in, but I sold the shorter dog-bones separately a while back. some of the reflective "pin striping" may also have come off since these were taken. It's just vinyl decal though. A little vegetable oil removes any goop residue.
  5. you just bought an enclosed (i'm gussing $2k easy) and a suburban, but you don't want to spring the extra $550 to make your life a thousand times easier? Pit-bull's stuff will last longer than your truck or trailer - I think they guarantee that, actually. call TJ at RidersDiscount. He has the Pit-Bull stuff cheaper than anyone else I've seen.
  6. I didn't think about wheel chocks. Another thing that's awesome about the pit-bull TRS. the floor is basically flat when you unload the bike. the 4 mount screws stick up less than half an inch... this part comes off without tools

    Senate Bill 5

i can't vote until there are options for: "I think I disagree, but I haven't actually read the bill, so I'd just be basing my opinion on whatever talk radio station i listen to." and "I think I agree, but i haven't actually read the bill, so I'd just be basing my opinion on whatever talk radio station I listen to."
  8. your employer isn't a police officer, they don't need probable cause. If you don't like their random drug tests, you're free to find another job. That's a totally separate debate. This is the police stopping people because they "might" be breaking the law. So yes, in that case, there is no probable cause; although I'm betting statistically they can make a strong case for it... it wouldn't be hard to find something wrong with the majority of motorcycles. my turn signals aren't DOT certified, and the back-lighting for my gauges is half gone. I know the former is illegal, and wouldn't be surprised to learn that the latter is as well.
  9. It's harassment, plain and simple. They're singling out a group of people and deciding to hassle them on the assumption that it will generate funds. Frankly, those who get caught are S.O.L. in my opinion, but if they stop you and find absolutely nothing wrong with you or your vehicle, I think the state should have to compensate you for your time and inconvenience. Fair is fair. Constitutionally, I don't think there will be an issue though... Riding a motorcycle isn't an "immutable characteristic," it's a choice; therefore NOT discrimination. I suppose you could argue that it MIGHT be an invasion of privacy, but when the solution is as simple as "don't ride a motorcycle in GA," it's a bit of a stretch... I think boycotting fuel and food stops in GA is a fantastic way to turn the local business owners against the checkpoints, but I won't believe bikers are that into solidarity until I see it. That first gas station and/or food joint in FL is going to become a cluster-fuck, and lots of people will know to expect it. Someone's going to break the boycott to avoid waiting in line for 30 minutes for gas, or 45 for a hamburger...
  10. I didn't even get a chance to post pictures! until further notice, sale pending.
  11. how flat is the back of a suburban? i ask because I slept in the back of our Tucson at BeaveRun, and the seats are on a 10 degree angle at most, and it was miserable. I kept sliding down. I had packed a tent, but it was raining and dark by the time I arrived, so I sucked it up and slept in the car. Not an experience I'd like to repeat. The other thing that occurs to me is the heat in the summer. We're up early at the track, but I think your white trailer with a roof vent is going to stay cooler than your black suburban with no vents. Of course you can roll down the windows, but then bugs get in. a buddy of mine put a screen door on his 6x12, and it's just about the greatest thing I've ever seen for hot-weather trailer camping. the greatest thing since AC anyway
  12. I'm debating whether or not to even renew my plates this year for the street bike, so that means I'm not riding it nearly enough. '97 EX 500 with just over 15,000 miles. Always garaged. Oil changed more often than it needed to be. $1200 for OR members. I'll list it on CL in the spring for $1700 if it doesn't sell, so "strike while the iron's hot." Has stiffer fork springs, and fresh fork oil, but suspension is otherwise stock. My rear shock froze a couple years ago, and it was replaced with another stocker someone gave me for free... So the rear shock might be a couple years older. the huge stock signals were replaced by inexpensive aftermarket ones that look better, but admittedly aren't as visible. It's got the normal scratches you'd expect from a bike its age, and 1 small crack in the fairing where the PO dropped it on the front turn signal. Otherwise, the bodywork is in good shape. Coolant flushed twice a year (when I do my track bike). No mechanical problems I'm aware of, but it could use a new rear tire. If that's a major problem for someone, we can work something out. the bike's located outside of Cleveland, and I can trailer it a reasonable distance to meet with someone for a sale. I'd prefer not to be trailering it around for people to just look at though.
  13. did the OP buy this one with high mileage? I could only hope to have enough time to put 40,000 miles on a bike
  14. size 50 is pretty big. I'm 6' and around 180, and I wear a 42 or 44... I don't know what model suit and boots those are, but it may not be that great of a deal. The AVG "forza" suit retails for under $300 new, so unless both are in great condition, and those are nice-ish boots, you may be able to find the same stuff new for less than $100 more. http://www.ridersdiscount.com/street-gear/suits-one-piece/85544.php I bet they have it for about $270 new.
  15. I think you're fine; just giving you a hard time. The fact is that you always fill whatever space you have. I used to do trackdays out of the bed of my ranger. Now I fill my wife's SUV, and the 4x8 behind it... Having less space forces you to pack efficiently. Having more just means you can bring conveniences you might otherwise have left at home. with just you and the lady, sleeping in a 6x10 will be no big deal. The guy I travel with was 6'4" and pushing 300 lbs for a while. I like Mike, but having the extra 2 feet between us was for the best!
  16. glad you liked it. Can I please direct ANYONE who thinks they're a great rider, but hasn't done a trackday to you? 204,000 miles (and who knows how many more on other bikes) of street riding, and 1 trackday makes you feel like a total newb again. I want to sky-write that over the next QSL bike night. welcome to the addiction.
  17. the more 6x10 enclosed trailers I see, the more I want a 6x12 that one's nice though, and the suburban certainly carries a fair amount of stuff on its own
  18. welcome. Richfield, eh? ...so can we ride dirtbikes on your property?
  19. So there should be no conceivable reason I'd ever pass you then, right? spring cannot come quickly enough. this bench-racing stuff sucks more than my paint job!
  20. This makes me smile. I mean no offense, as I was probably one of the worst first-time riders ever to turn a wheel on a race track, but on a 600 (admittedly with -1/+2 gearing) I will hit the rev limiter in 6th gear on the back straight at Mid-Ohio; at least I should - if I get shitty drive out of the keyhole, I probably won't. It's just fun to look back and think about how much I've improved since my first trackday. Anyone who does their first day should definitely memorialize it with its own thread. Years later, you'll dig it up and smile about the things that seemed so hard.
  21. I don't think #8 was fair. I got it right, but Kawasaki uses ALL of those letter designations except the YZF option. I'd let the ZZR option slide a tad, because those have been sport-touring bikes, but the GPZ line is the overseas equivalent of the "ninja" line in the States. Plus "ZX-R" is a dumb way to word that answer. "ZX_-R" with the blank space would have made more sense. the only one surprised I missed was the exhaust question. I know Puig makes wind screens, but I've never heard of Laser exhausts; at least none was ever very memorable apparently.
  22. sounds right to me. Sega got out of the hardware industry for this very reason. Making the games is way more profitable.
  23. Regardless of whether it happened to your friend, I just don't believe a statute exists that authorizes such an act by a police officer. That's why I asked you to cite it. Having a motorcycle license (full, or novice) is not a requirement to own and/or register a motorcycle, so how would they keep track? even IF they can check your license information based on running your plate (and I don't think they can), it would be utterly useless. Say some 16 yr old gets his full M endorsement, but his parents own and register the bike. You're telling me he can be pulled over and harassed on a whim by any LEO because his plates will come back to his mom or dad, who don't have M endorsements? That could happen in perpetuity if he never transferred the bike into his own name. I am literally on Oplates.com right now renewing both my cars, and my bike plate, and nowhere is it asking me if I even have a drivers license, let alone an M endorsement. The only thing I have to "certify" is that the vehicle I am renewing is insured. And like I said in my earlier post, if the police did intend to monitor "novice" riders this way, it would fail miserably when the opposite scenario your friend describes occurs. My bike is registered to me. I've had my M endorsement for 6 years or so. My wife just got hers about a year ago - so she was safe to ride around violating the temps rules because the bike would have come back registered to me?
