It's very rare to get a salaried non-exempt role, and the few engineers that I know that have them are either: Technicians that have 4 year degrees, basically engineers in name only. Making engineering money through overtime, since their base salary is low Have engineering roles that the company knows are 60-70hrs regularly, easily $100k+ roles, but for the company it's cheaper to pay out than to hire another engineer for what really should be enough work for 2 or more engineers. Easy way to get burnt out and never see your family - but your bank account is never hurting. So, I don't think you're going to find a role that pays OT. You're just expected to own your tasks and get the job done, regardless of how many hours it takes. With time zone change, I remember having a 27hr hour day once, which turned into 90hr weeks -- luckily it was only for 3 weeks, but that project sucked.

LOL @ the overgrown babies -- that doesn't change no matter what your field is. You mention sports cars, motorcycle, RC cars, etc -- are you passionate about automotive, or tech, or both, or..? That will determine what type of engineering you should pursue. Do you like soldering PCBs, designing stuff with CAD, reading wiring schematics, programming PLCs, or writing DFMEAs/specifications? Are you okay with handling ridiculous requests from management and offering solutions that aren't necessarily the right way to fix things, but an acceptable bandaid that meets the cost and timing for the project? Can you handle re-direction, after you've worked on something for 3 months that just gets scrapped? If you could pick a company to work for in an engineering capacity, who would it be and why do you have that perception of that company? Are you willing to relocate? Detroit is looking for a ton of automotive engineers to do things. I get at least 3 e-mails a week to relocate there for 20-30% more money (and probably 20-30% more hours), and California -- because my skillset is very hot in the techspace right now, but I'm not willing to relocate at the moment. If you're in the same boat, you've capped your income to your living area and whatever engineering jobs can be done there. As I mentioned above, you also need to figure out if you're going to chase money or time. Do you take less money than your marketable skillset to maintain 40-45hrs / week? Or do you love the money so much that you're putting 60+hrs in a week at a company that pays you well? Most engineers, at least in the automotive industry, really don't get the 40-45hr week, though some companies are getting better about that. YMMV.

What are your reasons for going into engineering (money, fame, power, chicks - it's always the chicks isn't it)? Where are your realistic targets for what type of job or industry you'd like to put your engineer skills to use? Whats your vision of your ideal 'day on the job'? What are you passionate about? Do you see yourself as an individual contributor (engineer - technical path) your entire life, or do you want to lead engineers (engineeing mgmt), or do you want to lead processes (operations/quality)? Do you want a plant environment or an office/R&D environment or a testing lab environment? Do you need to feel like you've made a difference every day, or do you like solving bigger long term problems which may take 5-10 years where you may have only contributed to the middle 3 years of progress?

The system performed exactly as it was designed and capable. People that don't work in this field give WAY too much credit to the capabilities of these systems since they work over the vast majority of use cases. People start (inapporpriately) trusting the systems, and then you have people watching Harry Potter DVDs when they really need to be babysitting their SEMI-autonomous vehicle. -

We have to consider a lot of this stuff already. Almost all of the functions we build into our controllers have driver overrides. We're confident our algorithms are better than you in 99% of situations, but if you want to take control and do something stupid, that's on you. Just like Tesla though, you better believe there's a data trace recorded of you doing what you did along with all the warnings and actions the system did to try to stop you. In case you were thinking about suing. Now, the other 1% of the situations, that's where 95% of the engineering effort is spent trying understand to make our system better than a human. Total 80/20 rule, well 95/1 rule. -

What is the APY on my points savings? Are there any OR ETFs I can place my points into for higher returns? Can I start a 529 plan with my points to have OR fund my kid's college? How much exposure do the points have against the Brexit? Can I short them, hedge them, or extend futures contracts on them? Are my points secure on OR using IT best practices - 128-bit SSL, AES, salted and hashed, distributed blockchain? Or should I withdrawal them all now and put them in a mason jar buried at an undisclosed location?

Big deal. I get free software all the time from Nigerian princes, winning contests I never entered, and sometimes for no reason at all. I'm not sure what these programs do, because I don't see anything when I run a lot of them, but my CPU fan kicks into high gear when I run them, so they must be working.

$90 is $90, if you want to spend money on cheerleaders then that's your perogative. The "coach" isn't going to teach you any more than some respectable YouTube videos you can find with some simple GoogleFu. I get it, some people like/need that "personal" touch, like interactive YouTube. If you feel you're getting your $$$$'s worth, then only you can be the judge of that. Pushups are free (incline, decline, close grip tricep, wide, all the kinds!), squats are free, lunges are free, dips are free, running is free -- there are TONS of bodyweight, balance, and isolation moves that'll whip you into shape really quick -- all free. Discipline is also free, you just have to work at it.

As redkaw pointed out, you're paying for the support system -- how about you give me $45/mo (half what your local "Box" charges you), and for that I'll text you words of encouragement for an hour while reminding you to write down your reps? Don't even need to critique your form, Crossfit doesn't, they'll just wait until you injure yourself or get rhabdomyolysis.

Some cliche about cooler heads prevailing, and attracting more flies with honey than vinegar... Unless the honey is in your transmission and the vinegar in the radiator, then the prevailing heads don't cool properly, the transmission sounds like it's full of bees, and you've spent almost $10k fixing your Chrysler powertain. Keep a happy face.

Even with the new IAT, my old man's bike never quite idled properly either. I think you're on the right track with investigating the engine temp sensor. If you're sure the injectors are firing correctly and you're sure you have good spark plugs, you could triple check with an infrared non contact thermometer on each pipe just to be sure you have ignition from both cylinders. Aside from that, if the TPS doesn't fix it, then I'd think it'd be a fuel mapping issue. I'm not sure if its a simple 2D map or 3D map, but if ECMSpy can adjust it, you may want to look at the inputs and the table map. If not, my next suggestion would be to piggyback a PowerCommander on it and let it work its magic. I know my dads 99 did go back into the dealer for an ECU reflash which apparently had to do with the fuel mapping, but I don't have much detailed information on that. Good luck and keep us posted.
