Oil light will be on if its not running since it isn't reading any oil pressure. After checking the kill switch, Id follow the pinched wiring if possible to see where it goes. Make sure the wires didn't get cut where you pinched them.

I rode a '74 Yamaha DT 360 around all the country roads where I grew up. Only problem was that I was 12 and was about a foot from touching the ground so I had to learn to ride without stopping.
