  1. I have the tractor supply trailor. The 13" wheels are a little nicer. Otherwise I think they are pretty much the same. I put some treated 3/4 plywood over the mesh floor it's pretty nice. heres a pic of my VW pulling 2 bikes with it.
  2. In all seriousness, a $500 category 5 3 ft. cable. I don't need to be told that there is no difference between the connectivity of this and a normal Ethernet cable. What I am curious about is what makes it possible to charge this much. What went into making this cable? I've seen these before and that is hilarious.
  3. I may have to put a call in later today to see if I can figure out where in the policy they interpreted that it is covered. Maybe if I can see what they were looking at it will make sense. I find it hard to believe I was blatantly lied to. Can anyone with another major insurance company review their policy and see what they find? Now I'm just curious.
  4. noted. I swear we found a part in the policy together that allowed the closed course unless it was a timed event. Honestly, I would expect the agents and their support team to be able to properly sell me insurance. Maybe I'm asking too much. Interesting that geico covered someone even though they explicitly told me the opposite.
  5. I don't disagree with you, however, if the insurance company really operates like this then I would think they'd have some fairly angry customers. The message I'm getting from you guys is, they are going to tell me one thing and then screw me when it comes time to pay me. I don't believe this is the case and I certainly don't believe I need to go through a claim in order to figure out what they "really" cover. but I still want to know, If I can't trust my agent to answer these questions where should I go as a customer. After all, all I want to know is what is covered and what is not in order to determine my risk and actions as such.
  6. well, prove it then. I have progressive. Is my Ducati (street bike) covered at a mid-OH track day or not, I was told by progressive that it was, I was told by State farm that it would be and I was told by Geico that it was definitely not covered. I'm not telling people to go on my word. Just saying this is what I was told by the agents. If I can't believe them who can I believe or who can I call to find out what is accurately covered? If what I am saying is not true then I'd love to know as well as it could cost me in the long run as well. I originally started looking into this in regards to the KTM sponsored Mid-OH days as I did not want to go riding around on KTM's $15k motorcycles being liable out of pocket. When I honestly explained the scenario to these companies those were the answers I got after quite a bit of waiting and talking to people's bosses and what not. Beyond that, my original point was about going to court and what generally happens if you want to contest it. What your relationship with your insurance company is in relation to that is something you'd have to personally investigate. But again I'd ask, where should we (the non insurance industry people) go to find accurate information regarding this. I'd hope the way my rates are determined is a little more concrete than voodoo magic.
  7. obviously I can only go on what I was told, but the track thing I ran up the management chain. It seemed the agents really had no idea but while looking into it further it seemed they were split. State farm and progressive say they do cover you, geico however does not. not that it matters to me, my track bike is not insured at all as it's not street legal at all.
  8. Last time I shopped around and discussed why my rate was what it was at each company this is what I ended up with. 1 company only looked at points but had higher general rates 1 company looked at every event equally but had lower rates if you had no events 1 company looked at events but waived the first one And further of course accidents were weighted differently than tickets or regular violations. beyond all that, some companies cover your motorcycle on a race track as long as it's not a race IE track days others stop coverage the minute you roll onto a closed course. This was shopping for motorcycle insurance. I've had my car insurance with USAA since I was 16 and I have found that shopping around against USAA is futile. when I say event I mean the companies saw a seat belt violation (no points) the same as a 2 point speeding ticket. Where as a points insurance company did not raise your rates for the seat belt violation but did for the 2 point speeding ticket. I'm just passing on what I was told by various agents when I was calling around.
  9. That depends on the insurance company. Some of them go on points, some go on events. Further, nothing goes up if they don't pull up your MVR which they don't always do. It's worth an extra $50 to me to not have points.
  10. Sorry, got to this late. I go to court on every ticket I get. This is almost always what happens. 1. go in for arraignment and be prepared to plead "not guilty" If the prosecutor doesn't make you a deal right on the spot they are very likely to do so on your actual trial date. Your court case is not very important compared to everyone else's. 2. Wear a button down shirt and look like a rock star next to all of the trashy people in there with suspended licences. When you are at court for a violation you could otherwise mail in you are very low priority to the judge and prosecutor. At least that is the feeling I have gotten and why I think they are pretty quick to just make you a deal and be done. 3. Talk to prosecutor, explain you have a relatively clean driving record and you'd like to reduce your ticket to a "no points" violation. 4. Prosecutor will make a deal with you, usually resulting in a slightly higher fine than if you had just mailed in payment. If they are not willing to make any deal, plead "not guilty" and try again at trial. I've never made it past this point with out making a deal, except when I actually contested at trial and even in that case I was offered a deal. (that's another story but I'm 1 for 2 in actual trials, you are better off taking the deal IMO but keep in mind, having your case tried will not result in bigger fines or court cost. You are entitled to it. If you are an @$$hole you might get stomped by the judge though so don't do that.) 5. You walk out having spent $200-$250ish after fine and court cost with no additional points on your licence. 6. you get to hear a lot of different people make excuses about suspended licences and DUIs while you sit and wait. The end.
  11. I liked the layout at this place. I think I bought my chain and some sprockets there. http://www.sprocketcenter.com/
  12. $150 at Mid OH is a good deal. $150 at grattan isn't really a good deal. I'd go if I am free.
  13. nice to see everyone, even if I really only know a handful of you in person.
  14. Looks like you can get updates on the deals gap fan page on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tapoco-NC/Deals-Gap-Motorcycle-Resort/161167626357?ref=search&sid=661754361.1380000247..1

  20. I believe it's the hayden cousin. He was at Carolina in November too. He is freaking fast!!!! Made me look like a chump for sure passed me on the apex on the inside several times like I wasn't even there.
  21. Here are a few. if you need Higher res PM me. yota took this one with my camera. This image was bought from a track photographer sorry, forgot some of those were uploaded at a really high res.
  22. Here are a few more pics the track photographer had available for free.
  23. I was just told by another guy to contact Matthius as well. I put the pads on brand new back in July before I went to putnam. Sunday at Barber would have been the 7th track day since then. However some of those days were half days. I don't use the bike on the street at all so that is all the miles they have seen. I put the pads on with a used set of galfer wave rotors and the guys over at STG said they should work fine since that is a stainless rotor. If anyone can shed some light on why this might happen I'm all ears. Up until the pad came apart I was very happy with them. Having said that. I don't think I'll run Carbone Lorraine brake pads again.
  24. I've got a bit of a cold so I've been slow to respond this trip. No less where do I begin. We actually had a huge group of people go down and ride barber this time. From Desmohio Joe - GSX-R750 Steven GSX-R600 Mike 1098S Rick 749 Todd 675 Eric 900SS Then there were some people Rick and I met in Carolina and their friends, some of which were STT instructors in the north. Jason R1 Christi GSX-R600 Mike GSX-R600 Brad CBR1000RR Jerry R6 And a few of Ricks Friends from Nationwide I believe came alont too John and his friend Eddie on a matching red 675 triumphs Andrew on his Superhawk Anyway Saturday was sunny, rainy and cloudy on a 20 minute rotation. Never rained enough to really make the track wet though. Temp was probably 55 all day or so. I had a lot of fun Saturday. I'm still pretty slow in the advanced group but it's way more fun to ride with those guys. Rick lowsided in session 2 coming out of turn 5 but it was pretty minor, he though he'd be able to get back out pretty easily but the false neutral problems that had last season returned and that ruined his weekend. Jason lowsided his R1 in the same spot but you couldn't even tell since had already been down on that side of the bike 2 times. He just re teched and kept riding. Otherwise Saturday was just a fun time. Sunday was less eventful in terms of wrecks Steven really shaved some time Sunday getting down to a 1:49 I believe. I think Mike was actually having trouble staying with him coming out of some corners of course the 1098 had no trouble reeling him in on the straights. I had some scary moments where my bike tried 2 kill me 2x on Sunday. Session 2 before lunch my Carbone Lorraine C44 brake pads literally came apart completely. I completely lost brake pressure in the front until I the pad back plate could make up the distance to the rotor. That was an ass puckering experience. Here are some pictures and a quick video of the incident. You can see the brake pad material completely separated from the back plate. In the video you can see my brake lever pull back to the clip on repeatadly. I am going to make a much better carbone lorraine smear video to help let other riders know to buy something more reliable. This is a huge safety issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT67Y1H2gT0 So, that was the first time my bike tried to kill me that day. I managed to get ahold of some new race pads from Mark the head STT guy and get back out on the track only missing 1 session after lunch. The 2nd session I got out my throttle decided to stick at the end of the front straight. Luckily the straight isn't really too long and I wasn't pushing too hard so I might have been going 120-130mph tops. I let off the throttle and grabbed a handful of brakes and the rear end started bucking around. Luckily I stayed calm and pulled the clutch lever in and rode the bike to a stop right off the edge of turn 1 and stopped right before the grave. I have this on video too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91J4GODXQec I decided to call it quits for the day after that. I was pretty tired and had enough of my bike trying to help me find my way off the track. Mike and Steven rode out the rest of the day and we all packed up and headed home. This was probably the most fun I've had at Barber yet. We met a lot of good people and there was always someone to ride with out there. Anyway here are some pictures. I'll have more videos soon. I am working on getting adobe premiere installed as windows movie maker doesn't seem to like the mp4 files these new HD gopro cameras use and it was just the little bit of motivation I needed to move forward and try out some more robust video editing software.
