Simple deal here: -ANYTHING with oil behind it needs wired. Most engine oil gallery plugs and such can be done and are done by most racers with silicone. -Header bolts/nuts - wired. -Exhaust hanger brackets and springs -Front and rear caliper bolts what about the banjo bolts? can i treat those bolts as a normal bolt head (they aren't hollow at the head, if i drilled it wouldn't leak)? -Front pinch bolts on forks all four points right? -Oil filter (use band clamp), oil drain, oil fill what about the oil cooler on front? -Axles front and rear silicone if there isn't any available head to drill through right? -Water pump drain bolts didn't think about that one thanks! -Radiator fill cap -SUGGESTED to wire any coolant line clamps regarding the clamps, i have the old school kind where its a pressure clamp, so i use pliers to get them off not a screwdriver like band clamps. should i toss these and get all band clamps or just safety wire around the heads? -IIIIIFFFF you use a master link with clip (not recommended at all), that needs silicone or wired. Things I wire that are not really covered: -rearset bolts -Shifter linkage related bolts -Quick clips instead of wire on calipers, oil fill, radiator cap, etc. ill take pics and go through the rule book and come back with any more questions i got. i wish i could go look at your bike brian but most of my questions are behind the fairings... thanks for the invite but thats a little far from me...maybe take lots of pics and post up? maybe we can get a sticky... here is a thread that i searched regarding header bolts brian: http://forums.13x.com/showthread.php?t=177465&highlight=header+bolts but point taken about doing them anyways.

you guys have plenty of honda's here, if it weren't for kawi kid it would be a board dominated by honda writers... its ok to have one more yamaha... geez plus apch8r still has his honda for street use, and so will this guy. they just got yamaha's for the track since that what they are intended for...

from the wera rulebook. curiosity has set in since my bike is bare and empty, this would be the easiest time to do any kind of major safety wiring. brake torque arms -- are these the brake banjo bolts? if not, what are they? if yes, can you treat them as a normal bolt (ie it wont leak if drilled properly)? oil lines -- 99 R6, i feel like i dont have exposed oil lines, only the filter/plug/gallery bolts. am i right? is this rule for the older models? edit: i forgot the oil cooler is exposed w/hoses attached. Do i just safety wire the clamps or both the clamps and the bolt on the top of the cooler? coolant drains -- i have mine just fed into a catch bottle. also all my main coolant hoses have clamps, do i need to just safety wire the clamps? rtv req'd on the bolts (ex the thermostat)? speedo and tach cables -- is this just to wrap the wires together or secure them to the fairing stay? spin on oil filters/filter bolts -- not sure of this one, do they want the actual filter bolt (behind the filter) safety wired? edit: after a search am i correct assuming this is about the filter and only the filter? nothing else? any pressure fed lubricant line -- can i get an example description of what this might be? again 99 R6.

heat is your friend for decal removal and fingernails. as far as the tank decal: sand over the decal area only to remove the clear and then remove as normal. im going to as far as saying you'll have an odd looking spot and a "valley" in your clear when you remove it. If you opt to get it re cleared they will probably just sand all the old clear off anyways.

whats your combo? street/track (for example PP/PR) track/rain street/rain im considering getting another set of rims, considering being the key word. if i do just wondering what you guys run with them. i think my personal best choice would be street/track combo. btw side note: the rims im looking at are 150 for front and rear with rotors and cush, straight and true from a proven seller off the wera boards. would you buy?

this was in the campus paper today. not sure about the girls, but the reason the boys got charged was because the didn't delete the images, therefore they were in possession of underage pornography which is indeed a crime. sure they can't control who sends them what, but they do have a little delete button that is completely in their realm of control, therefore you can deduct they kept the pics on purpose. now if phones didn't have a delete text button this would be a different story.

maybe less (or none at all) mcn or speed tv news, and just wsbk/ama/motogp news.
-
thats a good bike, but 2k over what he's offering.

full time student baby! on the nights though i am a collegiate soccer official, or i could 4th official MLS games.

referring back to those ama/motogp news feeds. i just realized they come up if i click on "todays posts" but not with "new posts" link. i think most of us click the new posts option and don't do the todays post, basically id just like to see this section get more traffic.

see my edits. yes. yea i knew about that, i know its hard ben i was just trying my luck out with the mod thing...lol well those are my ideas, take them as you please!

ok here's some i just thought of, if they are already here disregard them. a trackday specific section, only trackday talk -- we have a road racing section already i know, but thats jumbled with a bunch of random talk of races/bikes/etc...(valve adjustments in the road racing section?) im talking purely for those that already have/want to do a trackday this is the sub topic they go to, to easily answer/ask questions combine all the racing news into one, ama/motogp/wsbk (wsbk is getting bigger now...make sure to include this) do we really need a speedtv news thing? most of that could go into the aforementioned sub topic. product review section, for those getting newly released helmets/gloves/jackets/etc to the let the rest of us know what they think and even for the not so motorcycle stuff such as books or videos. we have a shop review, i suggest we keep these two seperate, or merge it doesn't matter much. riding tips section, for the n00bs and experts alike who just want to ask a simple question about how to take a certain kind of turn, etc... and in general clean some of the threads up ie move them to the right place, if you want to make me a temp mod i could do it in my free time and when i think im done you can remove me...
-
ill think about that.
-
its a message board. you've got more than enough. if anything a little more sub topics. even then i dont know...

o snap.

i was talking with the Arai helmet cleaner at Mid Oh a few years back and he was telling a story of a racer that split a buck in half at one of the circuits they were running at 170 mph full tuck. the rider was seriously hurt, obviously the deer dead. But the doctors said that if he wasn't in a tuck he would have been dead as well.

that'd make a nice ornament in your garage.

back in the day michelin teams used to do practice tests on friday of the weekend, give their results back to the michelin factory and have purpose built tires for that track/conditions/temp/etc ready by saturday or sunday. im pretty sure thats accurate, i remember reading it somewhere i just don't remember if it was a credible source or not.

well same with the LM GT1 class, those were expensive as hell and i would never be able to afford anything like that. but just to make the option available would be neat, IMO and no doubt the would fill their required allotment in no time. Desmo RR sold out within 6-8 months. and it contributed 68M euros to their business.

http://www.crash.net/motorsport/motogp/news/173139-0/should_motogp_bikes_be_sold.html reminds me of the old GT1 Le mans class (Toyota Gt-one, Mercedes CLK-GTR, Porsche GT1, etc) where it required x number of road legal cars in order to enter its prototype into the class. not sure if it would be implemented or not into the rules, but it could be a step in the right direction.

nick why should i buy this before the damper? fireman -- what on the upper needs paint? it looks good to me... also have you mounted the fairing stay on your 99 to see if for sure it fits? and what about a tank?
