condition of damper in question, pic(s) inside
natedogg624 replied to natedogg624's topic in Tech and Tips
i wanted an ohlins orginally but was talked out of it due to the fact that they have the opportunity to get damaged easier because they stick out more. damaged by a lowside, bike ended up on its top side. he's still trying to figure out how in the heck the damper got damaged... he says its working perfectly. 25 race weekends over 3 years. bought new. no damage around the mating surfaces. i was going to send it off as soon as i got it. calling Scotts today to get some more information about what to look/ask for. ah shucks brian your not selling?! haha but i understand your point. ill shoot him that offer and see what he says. yes i understand my safety which is the reason i asked the question as to whether or not this looks to be in good working order. obviously if it wasn't or had the possibility of leaks then i would pass. also i heard servicing was around 50 dollars. again i have to double check with Scotts today though -
looking at a scotts damper, working with a well repped guy off the wera board so im not worried about getting screwed in this deal, just curious of the condition of the damper. its around 200 including the correct mount. Does that just look like surface damage or something that could lead to more problems? If i do get this i would send it to get serviced by scotts. he says that the scratches do not affect the performance of the damper and that it works perfectly more pics coming tonight.

^thats pretty much the story. their prices also went up last april i believe. cool with the engraving detail.

get your gear now while everyone's clearing their inventory at stupid cheap prices! and welcome!

the older sidi's soles wore out like crazy from what i heard, but they have since gotten smart and designed replaceable soles. good idea to go to pony and try on all the different boots they offer and make your decision off that. question: why 2 piece? don't you already have a jacket? so now you'd have two jackes?? i say get a one piece and you'll be happy. don't forget to keep snooping around those ebay delears getting rid of their inventory. bought my 1pc for 75% off.

just depends on the feel. a lot of guys i know do shorty brake and long clutch. some are also perfectly fine with both shorty's. and then their are the old school guys that go long on both sides.

^they actually probably could. i got my uncle a vinyl for his phone last year for xmas too. he uses his phone more than anyone i know, in and out of his pocket, on and off the counter, plus its his work phone etc... it gets pretty beat up. the only thing with his and the edges are ever so slightly showing signs of bending up. and i really had to look hard to see what he was saying. but he put it on in a hurry after he got it, no cleaning or prepping at all so that has something to do with it. the color is still good as the day he got it.

i haven't had a problem since all i've ever gotten from there was my own image but im assuming its in the fine print. every site that prints things as its main profit has something in the regards of "we reserve the right to decline an image due to copyright violations etc"

i got the laptop vinyl cover for my dad last xmas. it came out VERY NICE! still has it on to this day and not peeling or wearing down at all. still looks like the day he opened it up. i want to get this for my phone, but going to make my own little nicky hayden design. we'll see if they accept or reject it to copyright issues... or they'll just think im some kinky dude who wants "69" on his phone...

you talking motogp ducati style don't think it should be too hard, just put a 45 bend in it, slash cut it to be even with the fairings, and you need an elliptical cut through the fairings. or the easy way is to do a simple hole instead of elliptical...lol

arrow gp exhaust like playerpro i always had a wet spot in my pants after riding behind his bike.

So I run into this WEIRD dude at the Pony...

winter. it happens. -
i've done both food and retail. retail is worse. most of the time i just hand the ball of to the manager that i dont like and let her handle it. already have. twice.

so who wants to go sledding down high street?
-
easy there dude. i think he knows a little more than the average "joe" his opinion holds a little more weight than a lot of peeps here.
-
ok i understand that, but what about this: not sure if this can still be considered "new" but i got the gp pro gloves for 130, and the smx-plus boots for 220 from parts411. i then price matched over to stg and got free shipping to my door the next day. parts411 wasn't a call or email deal, it was a coupon code thats listed within their part#. now i already know the sizes i wear in most if not all gear from the neck down so i knew it would fit, so it was worth the wait of a day. i dont know if we are talking down two completely different paths here or not...just curious how the online stores can get away with this while pony is still selling at retail.
-
what about the MAP? the guys who say they are selling for lower but can't advertise because of the MAP policy with the manufacturer. i usually find that online purchases are cheaper than going to the store and buying. unless thats what your saying all along and im just reading it wrong.

keep the smaller kit, sell the bigger one and buy what you need. it will most likely be cheaper.

socket size--i dont know of any bolt on my bike that i use a lot thats bigger than 18mm, other than the rear axle, and steering stem nut. but those are 22/32 mm. i bought those seperately. box wrenches--don't really use these very much, ill use the smaller ones occasionally not a big deal spark plug socket -- does your 204 pc have one? if it does then don't worry about it. longer 3/8" wrench -- if you can't get it off then your either 1) weak or 2) need leverage, you've got that hollow tube in your tool kit you can "add on" if you need to. honestly i dont think this will be a problem. deep well -- there has only been 2 occasions i have needed deep well, and you were with me. getting the engine out. extensions -- these are nice, does your 204 have them? if not thats no big deal, just get yourself your own set at autozone for a decent price. and vary your range, don't limit to 3", i have 3" and 6" in my set. smaller casing -- nice, but are you really cramped for space... allen wrenches are awesome! but... every since i got my allen sockets i haven't really touched my allen wrenches in a while. also may want to consider adding some torx sockets in your collection. one other thing to add about the longer ratchet. get yourself a nice breaker bar along with a 1/2" to 3/8" (or 1/4") size converter. problem solved. o and speedy wrenches are suhweet too ill give you a full report of everything i needed after i tear down my engine and build it back again. but im pretty sure im set.

those were final selling prices, not asking prices. true statement. not arguing with that. im saying within the past few years the cars selling price has gone up and down. selling prices, not asking prices. he would make money since he bought it for 13k and the current market as you say is around 18k. but i understand your point.don't want to turn this into a bickering match. -

im comparing with other domestic cars that you can't sell for more than 4k after you bought it 5 years earlier for >20k. your right, they do depreciate but they can also gain value as well over time. 18000? hmm ill have to double check that. last i checked there were a lot of late 80's Porsche's selling for mid 20k's. that was a few years ago though...
