  1. Kia/Hyundai was among the worst for reliability less than a decade ago... There have been claims that they are much better now, but I'm skeptical. They've also recently been the target of lawsuits for claiming much higher fuel economy than they actually produce.
  2. I'm playing JRMiii's game My first car was actually a truck... if you could call it a truck. I bought a 1988 GMC s15 with a busted frame for $250 Bought a frame from the local scrap yard for $80 and spent the weekend building a truck. (swapping engine/transmission and cab over to the new frame) it had manual everything (transmission, steering, brakes, windows, locks) The 2.5 liter was torquey enough to get the little truck away from a light quickly, but when I tried to get her up over 85 on the freeway, she started gurgling, then smoothed out when it blew a head gasket. $330 for my first car, and a weekend of wrenching. I also built a wood bed for it because the bed that came with the truck was rusted to crap, and was too short for the frame I bought anyway.
  3. i had a blast on my cali trip... the only thing i wish i had was more pictures... bring a photographer if you can. lol
  4. Thanks, but I'm not a fan of the lucky/goldstar/zenith conglomerate...
  5. I've seen a few around, I've never driven one.
  6. correct, their fourth "color" was yellow... but again your eye can't even detect yellow directly.
  7. I don't know, but because I understand a little about color science, I know it was bullshit. You only have 3 cone types in your eye: red, green, and blue. Yellow is the presence of green and the absence of blue... you don't actually detect yellow, you generate it.
  8. Now I'm 90% sure I'm going plasma, it'll give me motivation to limit my gaming some anyway... Power consumption is within a few watts, I prefer samsung to sharp, and the plasmas just looks so much better to me. Again, this could be the matte finish vs the glass screen.
  9. I bought a house. Tv is for my new living room. Right now I have a 32 lcd. The parents small living room has a 42 plasma I picked out for them about 4 years ago. My sister has a 50 plasma that I helped her pick out in her tiny apartment
  10. So as long as it benefits you, picking winners is fine... but if it doesn't benefit you, how dare they... Glad you're so transparent.
  11. I actually went out to best buy tonight and did a side by side comparison of the 2 TV's I was considering.... I definitely preferred the picture of the plasma...it just looked crisper, brighter, and cleaner....the LED had a "dull" look to it. maybe it's the matte surface vs the glass that i'm noticing...
  12. I can't stand standard LCD in anything bigger than 32... the blur is too distracting, and the "grey" that they call "black" is sad. Definitely not going standard LCD or DLP
  13. LOL, yeah, I know about that first hand. My parents house is small (888 sq ft) and for about a week they had no furnace... it was starting to get chilly, but it never really got "cold" in the house, and i suspect it was the plasma keeping the living room warm.

    New Toy

I've taken my Corbin to LA and back in a week... No pain related to the seat, just general misery related to some of the weather on the return trip...
  15. it's a similar bit of liability sidestepping that one of my previous employers used. We could never quote a valve specifically for oxygen service, if anyone ever requested a oxygen service valve, that was an automatic no-quote. we would then send them a canned response regarding our inability to quote oxygen service valves, but that they may want to look into some of our valves with special cleaning and no lubricants.
  16. I'm just gonna go browsing tonight. If I can't "see" a difference between the plasma and the LED then I'm pretty settled on the LED.
  17. Thinking about that, too... Just want to get my priorities and selections kinda nailed down in case I come across a deal... Might end up waiting til the 23rd to pull the trigger since I won't even really be moved in until the 21st anyway (starting the move the 17th)
  18. best buy sale this weekend, 900 for the LED version LCD version is regularly 900 i think...
  19. for $100 cheaper, I'm pretty settled on the LED... Thanks Brian and Ryan for easing my apprehension.
  20. I have had temporary burn in on the 42" samsung I bought for my parents 4 or 5 years ago. (little assasin marks in the top left corner.) If it were only for TV and Movies, it would be the samsung hands down. (that picture is the absolute best I have seen, never blurs, never pixelates, never hesitates) As much as I plan on gaming in the winter though, it has me worried. I could always wipe the temporary burn on the screen at my parents house by switching to a black/white wipe screen for a few minutes, but it still scares me.
  21. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat13504&type=page&pageIdentity=searchDriven&useProductString=true&productString=1218551142746*1218712328224&unProductString=1218202944577*1218204532577*1218500929323*1218551140821*1218809261672*1218552486361*1218541222902*1218541224828*1218436776223*1218552486297*1218809729292*1218628183449*1218635270647&catId= I got my TV selection narrowed down to sharp aquos LED or Samsung Plasma same screen size. Samsung: love the brightness, contrast ratio, and refresh rate Dont love the possiblity of burn-in on my map and life meters while I'm gallivanting around in halo or assasin's creed. Sharp: Love the non-existence of burn-in Don't love the 1/5 refresh rate compared to plasma, and I'm concerned about picture quality. Leaning towards the sharp, but really hesitant, because I do love the look of plasma.
  22. that's my point.. now people can no longer sue that company for injuries sustained as a result of gasoline use in their container. Any gasoline dispensed into such a container would have been done so unlawfully...
  23. You're lucky it was a fake plastic hubcap... if it had been a legitimate spinner that flew off of a car, that would have SUCKED...
  24. wait... wut? It's not possible that a 10 year old was traumatized by the actions of that police officer, because healthy adult men get tazed on occasion, and they come out fine usually? Is that really the assertion you're making?
  25. If they are low enough volume that they are rotomolding, it might make it's way to mexico... if they are high enough volume that they are blow molding, it's unlikely that the business will go anywhere outside of the country based on logistics.
