MOST people I've talked to from that era seem to believe (incorrectly) that the "four fourty two" was an engine. in fact, the "four four two" was an option, then it was a model designation. Up to the buyer, but I'd suggest buying a hydraulic clutch kit, a pressure plate and a clutch plate, drop in the Muncie that comes with it, and have fun with an old runner with a lot of character. take it to cruise-ins or just putts around town scaring small children....

Got a monster dirt bike, Honda XL600R single... Details and pics to come. Dad just bought it, rode it, decided it was too big for his yard, and wants a smaller one (250) or his money back out of it. Price is negotiable, it starts up and runs well if you got the leg power to kick it. (or you're smart enough to use the decompression valve properly ) clear title in hand.

if it's anything like the XX, cam chain tensioners are notorious for making noise... sounds like a bowl of marbles rolling around in the right side.... Cheap and easy to "fix" but then they get noisy again unless you upgrade to the X11. Not a functional problem, they still work fine, they just make noise. (assuming of course that it is what the problem is) if not, it looks pretty nice, you could probably ride it til it grenades and make your money back on parts via ebay...

ohh, glad the 2 people we were suspicious of turned out to be stand-up guys... As I had thought until reading this post... got no experience with mikexup rode with littlecarbs to Heinz field, seemed like a cool dude... CSC I don't know personally, but he seemed cool as well.
