there is one of those old school 4 bbls for sale...

I think over the last few pages/topics, I've outlined my POV pretty well. It boils down to nothing more than my opinion on the subject. Your opinion differs and I respect that. I'll continue to support our rights, and continue to be disapointed when people abuse them.
-
There is no conflict other than in theory and personal practice...in policy we've always been on the same side...
-
My personal views haven't changed... politically I've always supported your second amendment rights... This is nothing new... Has zero to do with my personal views as to whether guns have a legitimate place in a civilized society... which I believe they don't.
-
I'm a problem solver..
-
You make a valid point, and if you feel that's what you need to do to protect your home, I fully support that.
-
I'll stand by that... Evil is nothing but a relative label given to those who express behavior deemed immoral by those who claim to have moral superiority. Good/Evil is nothing more than a synapse in the brain that is or isn't regarded by the society at large as socially acceptable. The society at large being entirely relative. Could be caused by a chemical imbalance, a tumor, or a crossed electrical signal. Unless you subscribe to a religion, in which case "Evil" is any behavior dictated by your prophets as unacceptable in the eyes of the god they invented.

"licking his balls" Dude, people who oppose guns, personally or politically, don't need "fuel"... We have an opinion on the subject, and we all have our own views on what the proper course for gun control should be. Tragedies like the ones in colorado and arizona, and mixups like the one in DC don't intensify our position. It might make people who are not as firm in their position rethink their position, but "haters" as you call them require no reaffirmation from tragedies.

refurbed assault rifle 349.99 http://sellout.woot.com/#

You "think" it's irrelevant, but that doesn't make it irrelevant.. You could use a stick of dynamite as a birthday candle, you could use c4 as modeling clay, you could use an atomic warhead as a driveway marker, none of that has any impact on what they were designed to do..blow shit up. Honestly, your glock is perforating paper or is it thrilling you and making you more proficient? The paper being shredded is a side effect..
-
Probably the latter, honestly... So which are you? Elderly, handicapped, or a diminutive woman? All 3? I suspect you are actually none of those, and you're just afraid you are inept... It's okay, I have no say over whether you should carry a gun, wear ballistic gear, carry a snakebite antivenom kit, or have a subscription to life alert...it's not up to me... The only thing I find utterly absurd is your refusal to accept that 3 of those things are designed to save lives and one of them is specifically designed to take lives...

Ciao, thanks for the info.

Please anyone, give me one real world practical use that you have for a gun other than to injure or intimidate. Recreational aside, you can do anything for fun, and that's fine... But if you're going to compare guns to matches, and bags, and running water... Those all have a real world practical use, as well as being used as weapons... What else have you ever utilized a gun to do? Honestly.

Similarities, sure, but many stark differences, such as design intent... Yes sky fairy help them It's a great slogan, but it also has an actual weight, a few pounds? Light enough to be handled by a child who has no concept of life or death let alone understanding of expanding gasses in a chamber propelling a piece of lead to deadly speed.
-
Right.. I have no desire to assault anyone... I'd rather think of creative solutions to conflicts, but on the other hand, I don't fear my world as you obviously fear yours. If you need a gun in your pocket to face your reality, have at it, who am I to tell you that you can't? Nobody... I just wish everyone knew the peace of mind I have on a daily basis.

No bachus, you haven't fixed anything, a motorcycle requires some skill to get it moving, clutch control, proper starting procedure, not to mention you gotta put the kickstand up before dropping it in gear...or it just flat out dies... a 3yr old could never misuse my motorcycle, she *might* be able to knock it over if she really really tried, but get it to speeds that I ride... not a chance.

I actually was trained to handle a shotgun at a young age... once I was old enough to scare off wild dogs, or kill them without it, I didn't have much use for it anymore, and I let that part of my life pass... Now I'm an able bodied and physically fit (well for the most part) human being, and am confident that I can handle any situation that comes along...
-
despite what you believe my hysteria to be, I don't fear your guns... as I've said, they are irresponsible, we're better than that. I'm willing to be the police answer has more to do with the cost/benefit of upgrading or maintaining the weapon than with it's reliability, but believe what you want. I'm not dumb, I just disagree with you... I think we'd be better off without them... difference of opinion...different lifestyle.... funny you keep projecting fear onto me, when I'm the one living the carefree life devoid of weapons... I've chosen to live my life as a scholar, not a warrior... you chose differently, and I'm sure that suits you fine.

so you're against biometric safes, too? What is their failure rate? What is the jam/misfire rate of a modern firearm? Again shitting on ideas because "It's too hard". It's a good thing people like you aren't in charge of scientific discovery, or we'd all be sitting around arguing with our abacus'...
-
I'd be onboard with this... people already have biometric safes, let's make the gun biometric and cut out the middle man...

Are you asking what is the difference between a gun and a car? Seriously? A car is designed to transport people from place to place, not to kill people... Cars are becoming safer, and kill people less in their design. Possible, but with a fire, you got some time, and fires are necessary for a LOT of things...lighters are getting safer, too (how exactly do you "put out" a gunshot wound to the head?) water is essential to life... I'm not sure if you understand the difference between 1. a device designed to kill people 2. a device designed to transport people and 3. natural elements...
-
and again, you fail to understand my point, not "evil", "designed to kill, with very little force and zero understanding" irresponsible... they don't have mind of their own, if they did, i would be more on board... if they were smart enough to only shoot people with bad intentions, I'd be all for them If they were designed to only be shot by registered owners, I'd be more for them...
-
That's my whole point... If you left a baseball bat in the car, or an axe for example (since some people think they are analogous), that kid might have gotten a headache, or cut, but probably wouldn't have ended up punching a giant dealy hole through themselves or their siblings... It takes zero understanding, and very little effort to exert deadly force. That's the problem... if guns were smarter, could only be handled and fired by adults or only the registered owner perhaps... I would be behind them more. The sheer fact that there is a ton of power with no discretion unleashed simply by less than an inch of movement...regardless of intention... regardless of understanding... IMO it's just irresponsible to build and distribute weapons like that. We're better than this. I mean, as an engineer, I can't rightfully design a saw fixture without a bunch of light curtains and guards because the people who use them might hurt themselves. You want that population to have access to guns? seriously?
-
So the gun owner "actively" caused damage to someone else by leaving the gun in the car?
-
so in those examples, who was the "good guy", and who was the "bad guy"? The stringent black and white world some of you must live in to perpetuate this whole "good guy/ bad guy" theme... is there no gray area? Are there no people that commit a crime for a good reason? Are there no people who obey the law but undermine morality? Welcome to Judge Dredd's world I guess..
