  1. It's a difficult balance to strike. In the case of healthy foods, I'd usually rather just be given the warning, and the choice of what to eat... When you're talking about pharmaceuticals, there is a stronger need to protect people from bad drugs... just how I see things

    Meth Lab

It only seems that way because you feel they are abusing those rights...
  3. So what should be the criteria for labeling? What qualifies as "genetically modified"? Every generation of plant that is not a "clone" has a hybrid of genes from each of it's "parent" organisms, therefore every generation is gentically modified... that's evolution. Now in the case of companies that are "patenting" a gene sequence, I do think that those companies should label their product as containing that gene sequence. I think that is a great first step....
  4. I think the whole GMO thing is bullshit, too. Farmers have been genetically modifying plants for centuries, albeit in a much less efficient fashion. We genetically modified dogs, too. Again, just less efficiently. throw the words "genetically modified" around and suddenly fuji apples are dangerous... Please
  5. What a bunch of bullshit. Put a warning label on it, let people eat what they want.
  6. i don't think that would have helped in this case. Witnesses have strict rules regarding these types of rituals.
  7. http://news.yahoo.com/teacher-pledge-of-allegiance-us-160820504.html Thoughts? I know where I am on this issue, just curious where the rest of you are...
  8. I'm in no better position than you are, but I think the health insurance industry needs regulated. What alternatives were presented?
  9. again "affordable" is debatable "denied coverage" is not...
  10. I didn't say it was going to cost them the same... i said they could get a comparable plan... That remains blatantly true...
  11. Yes, I read the article, yes it sucks for them, but they still can get insurance. It will cost them a bit more because of their high income (oh the problems of some people).
  12. Well since were all throwing anecdotes around... My employers insurance recently went up..by 7%. This is the smallest increase in a year that our benefits manager has ever seen. She was worried, she was riding the doom and gloom train pretty hard. They got a better rate than they would have... That's not all, single people are saving $20 a month because the individual contribution actually decreased by $5 per paycheck.
  13. My parents' 40 samsung plasma keeps their living room warm on cooler days. They consider it a "feature" more than a drawback since they don't watch a lot of tv when it's nice/warm out anyway.
  14. So their "current" plan got cancelled... boo hoo It's not like they can't buy a comparable plan before the cancellation takes effect. It's not like the insurance company said "sorry, you're fucked, we refuse to insure you because you're already sick"
  15. So why be so crappy at it? "air cooled" was their last decent excuse as to why they didn't get the same power and torque numbers as their japanese rivals...
  16. I've already said it's not perfect, it's based on Romneycare which is an unhappy marriage of a "free market solution" to a "government mandate" but it's better than letting the insurance companies write their own rules and fuck anyone who doesn't help their bottom line...
  17. In a global economy it is... after a bunch of government bailouts it is...
  18. the plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence"
  19. that's not koolaid, that's a white russian...
  20. torque: 44, exactly the same as that air cooled honda cb 750 from 45 years ago that has 10 more horsepower... And harley wonders why they are a fucking joke...
  21. Okay, what would be your opinion were you someone drowning in medical bills that you couldn't pay because you were ineligible for insurance?
  22. yup, some people's premiums are going up... Others are going down, and countless others are now eligible for health insurance who were not eligible before... Is the system better, or worse? depends who you ask.
  23. est. 54 hp out of the 750, 10 less than a honda cb 750 from 45 years ago...
