  1. I'm really missing being on a bike made to carve the twisties and canyon roads. Especially now that I'm heading back to CA and house is hour northeast of the office I'll be running, and an hour southwest of the corp office. That's a lot of smiles, I mean miles:D Part of me still thinks I'll total it like the last one, sometimes you just don't have enough rear tire no matter how wide it is. The other part of me is saying that I'm older and wiser and would never push a bike beyond my or its limits. Yeah, no fark'n chance of that happening. A man only got so much self control, (no matter how religious he is:wink:) I do know I will have a second bike in the stable this season, and it will either be a dedicated sport bike or a sport touring bike. Would be nice to have a bike that I can pack a weekend or a weeks worth of crap into the hard cases and take off for the wine country or just do the Pacific Coast Highway from start to finish and back again.
  2. I'll be there sans bike, but I'll be there. The last Ohio QSL bike night for me.... ever... kinda sux. Luckily Hooters later that night will cheer me up again!
  3. I have, and they corner like a hooker and run like a raped date! true story
  4. I ALWAYS worry about money. Just want to get an idea of what I would be getting myself into once I "kick" the tires and such on this Duc. Great info so far, and gave me nice long list of things to ask and look for.
  5. I'm always looking for reasons to purchase new tools.
  6. a couple come to mind from that Sunday at Classics I'm just gonna play nice and leave that one alone:D
  7. Most Duc owners I've encountered really do baby the bike and either are afraid to "RIDE" it or just plain afraid of it. As far as more likely for theft, everything has a higher theft risk in CA, the population of most cities is equal to or greater than the population of most states. You're only local for another 8days then I'll be in CA. That would mean having to ship another bike (and another $600). Not that I wouldn't consider that. How many miles on that 996 of yours? I'm not asking for opinions on how or where I should spend my money. I am asking for insight into the characteristics of the bike, longevity, service history, and short comings. I value input from those that have spent time in the saddle of sport bikes and Ducs. I'm too far removed from riding sportbikes to really trust my instincts alone. I'm sure I've been riding for almost as long as some of you have been alive, but you folks are closer to the pulse of the sportbike arena and are (I surely hope) more in touch with ins and outs, ups and downs of most of the bikes.
  8. :rolleyes:will all sport bike owners/riders that don't have full coverage please post your name, address, year and make of your ride. I'm looking for a good cheap sportbike and free sounds like a plan!
  9. Just for ReconRat and the young'ns.
  10. I believe the correct term these days is Afro-American states:D
  11. this place is awesome! Where else can you get 17 responses in 45min? Yeah, I noticed the repaint but not really a big deal (although I really don't like black bikes) I'm not worried about recalls or service bulletins, just want to be sure that if there are any they get addressed before I get the bike or I can deduct for my time to have them done. Keep the info coming folks, I really appreciate the info.
  12. Found a black 2001 DUCATI 996 for $7k w/7k+ miles on it out in CA near my final destination. The last sportbike I owned (this is really going to date me) was a Honda Hurricane, so I'm relying on you more edu-ma-cated fuksticks to enlighten me as to whether this is a decent deal and bike, and tell me if there are recalls, service bulletins, or just shit I need to ask about and look for.... Thanks in advance. 2001 Ducati 996 in high gloss black. It has 7,XXX miles and is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically. * Five spoke Marchesini wheels * Carbon fiber slip-ons by Marving of Italy * Arrow performance EPROM * Cam belts checked and tension adjusted * New Bridgestone BT016 tires ready to install with 190 rear (not shown in photos). Add $275 to the price if you want them Rides and runs perfectly. I have just completed a thorough check out and everything is as it should be mechanically. Needs nothing but fuel and a very experienced rider who can keep up with this thoroughbred. $7,000

    Riding mower $700

plane leaves June 10th. Movers get here on the 8th to start packing, finish up 9th. Landscaper already scheduled to do weekly mow until house sells, so would really like to have this out of the garage sooner than later. Feel free to PM me and maybe we can work something out. Really would prefer to sell to forum member than a craigslist stalker.
  14. glad you got them back, NOW start using bike lock(s) when you park your ride or frames outdoors:beating:
  15. , and not sure if you knew this or not, but in your avatar pix you look like a dog:eek:
  16. Hell, we paid for Bill Clintons and Monica's dry cleaning and didn't even get a reach-around

    Riding mower $700

Tracy, CA, almost due east of San Fran... And speaking as a married man, you would get more enjoyment from the riding mower than a wife! You can't roll it if you don't cut it.
  18. I'm offended by the excessive display of CBRs it's the new 2050 Porsche hovercraft, it's all over their website.
  19. not quite. Jerry was a slang term for the Germans during the WWI & WWII eras. The Germans were infamous for capturing and re-engineering enemy weapons for their needs. Jerry rigged had a better ring to it than kraut rigged, and didn't have quite the negative air to it.
