you are truly a wise man. I couldn't agree more. I actually have couple of friends that bought their HD 2yrs before I got mine. They just recently racked up a whole 2k miles on their bike and were proud of themselves. The bike is 4yrs old and has just now turned 2k miles? I put 1500 miles on my bike the first month I owned it. Hell, I just racked up another 1500 miles over this past weekend. Would have been more, but I have rules about being drunk and riding! the airhead Harleys are soon gonna be a thing of the past thanks to the wise EPA, not sure what all those die hard drones are gonna do when that happens. Someone made mention of the vibrations and use of rubber engine mounts, the vibrations are the biggest marketing tool HD has, and their old and faithful followers purchase the bikes for that HD "rumble" The rubber mounts were installed by the moco in hopes of decreasing the other failures caused by the excessive vibes. They then (in 2008 I believe) redesigned the rubber mounts, at the demands of their faithful followers, de-engineered the vibration reducing mounts to allow for more vibrations. They have the capability to produce a great bike and product, but they're just so busy pandering to their airhead faithful. I don't blame them, because it's those drones that spend thousands of dollars a year adding chrome and tassle do dads to pimp their rides. Not to mention that HD makes 70% of their profit on their motor clothes division and not the actual bike. Most of HD's bikes are marginal products at best, but they haven't asked for a bailout yet, so I can't blame them for pandering to the old faithful airheads.
