A sad update to my bike I raffled off

I don't think he wanted to call either, but I would've found out sooner or later. He also asked me to trailer it back to his house from the hospital today since he has no way of transporting it. I guess he was near a hospital and the bike was rideable, so he went straight to the ER.

he's got good insurance, right?

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Quote of the day right there.

I sold my 600RR to some kid who drove all the way from Indiana to buy it. He said he wrecked his old Honda stunting it, but quickly stated that he wasn't going to do that on this bike, no sir! I told him that after this deal is done, you can 12 o'clock this thing however you want, it's your responsibility. It's been a year, and I firmly expect this thing is rotting away in a junkyard somewhere.

well the good part of this story is knowing despite the winners moronic actions, your brother was still greatly helped by your actions!

also should have rigged it so I won, it would be the prettiest garage and trailer queen :D

This is true. I know I said thanks to everyone here a hundred times already. But just so you all know again, between this bike raffle and a benefit held by my family we raised just over $30K. He said he would've been in a world of financial hurt and in danger of losing the house he had just bought if we didn't do it.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm too pretty not to atgatt myself up.

Feel bad for the kid, sure, but its no way the OP's fault...we're all responsible for our own actions.

Every time I go out, ..I see someone in shorts, in sandals, t-shirt, no helmet and "glasses" that look cool, but NO way will stay on the brain dome if you turn your head sideways at 30mph. Thats bad enough, but to see some cute chic in shorts, tank top and no helmet...*shudder* why take someone else along on your skid fest. sheeeut.

Not always harley guys, but dang.. I get its tempting to take the bike to the beach ready to swim, but

What was the bike to begin with?

I like to hear about people who care about their bike and its next rider. The guy who sold me my bike gave me a few hours of free riding lessons. That was very cool, and I have kept him updated on how the bike is doing.

That's really unfortunate :/. Thankfully he's pretty much okay, minus the rash. Sucks about the bike for sure. What kind of bike was it? This will definitely remind me to keep all of my gear on. I was a little tempted to put my jacket/gloves in my bag today, because I was pouring sweat...glad I left it on.
