Plastidip motorcycle

I know there are a lot of people out there that do not like this stuff. Say it's a poor man's answer to a paint job. I understand... I've been hearing more and more about this stuff and the ONLY reason why I even considered it is because it can be removed really easily. I was on the verge of selling my bike and decided to see how it would come out. If I didn't like it, I could take it off...

I took all the fairings off when I painted them and got everything done besides the tank. I'll get that this weekend.

Not trying to be a dick but why would you ruin the bikes stock look?? Maybe I am wrong but if you are selling this bike i would assume people would pay A LOT more for the stock look vs the flat black rattle can look. Obviously this is my opinion.

But they cant see the paint under it so for all they know its scratched all to hell. Unless you are going to rip it all off for someone who may or may not buy the bike.

How do I know that If I am a potential buyer? As a buyer I would think you are trying to hide something. And if it is removable, how good is this product really!?!?!

This!

First, I've decided to keep it for a bit longer.

Second, I picked up a rear fairing, off the internet, because mine was cracked. It had scratches in it and you can see it through the plastidip. There is NO prep work with this stuff, other than a real good cleaning. So you can see EVERYTHING.

Third, if a buyer wanted to see the paint underneath, I'd write in the contract that if there are any marks or scratches not previously discussed, they would get their money back. Although it would have to be removed at the time of the sale.

There are a few spots that I have to touch up, now that I've cleaned it and got it out in the sun. Not a big deal. The tail needs to be removed and repainted. Not a big deal either. I planned on doing it anyway. (Because of a sticker that's under) the tail was the first piece that I sprayed, so I was learning with that piece.

I did this with my 04 cbr this past weekend when getting it ready for the track. Including tank but not the fender 3 cans were plenty. Literally a $20 paint job with no prep work. We will see how well it holds up this weekend on the trailer for 8 hours round trip and a full day at Putnam.

I used cans... Learned a lot in the process. It took quite a few cans to do the job. More than I thought. They say about 4 coats, but I know what bugs can do to paint, so I went with more like 7. Make sure you paint it in an really well lit place. I think I'm going to have to do the tail again. Some of the paint is coming off of the fairing, in the cracks. It was the first piece that I painted and the only thing I can think of is that I didn't clean it well in those places. I'll take it off and repaint it.

They do make a motorcycle kit. I might get it if I do another bike. The cans put a texture on it that comes from the spitting of the rattle can. It's fine, but if you want a really smooth look and feel, you are going to have to shoot it with a paint gun. I have one of those as well and really want to try it out.

I still have to do the tank, but want to ride it more than paint it. hahaha

I have painted a car with the stuff.  If you go to dipyourcar.com, they have many different colors, and they also have a thinned version you can paint from a sprayer.  I painted my wheels on my car with the cans, and IMO it does not look as good as the thinned version (textured look from the can)

As far as durability, I had my wheels on my G37 plastidipped all winter and they still look good after about 10 trips through a high pressure wash.  The beauty of this stuff is there is little to no prep work as you can peel it off all the places you dont want it.
