Wood Gas - it was popular in WW2 when gas rationing and short supply forced alternatives.50 mph isn't bad, and just carry an axe everywhere you go, to refuel. That's the gas generator on the back deck of the sidecar.Yup, it's a Ural mod in Russia. ReconRat
Thinking... could this all be quite smaller and more efficient?Wondering if a modern high-tech re-design would be interesting. The US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) published a book in March 1989 describing how to build a gas generator in an emergency when oil was not available.[1] looking for it... here it is: http://www.pssurvival.com/PS/Gasifiers/FEMA_Simplified_Wood_Gas_Generator-Mar_1989_With_Biomass_Energy_Foundation_2001.pdf edit: The Europeans are experimenting and have figured out how to turn 5kg of wood into one liter of a diesel like fuel.edit: any of these can be applied to an AC generator rig. edit: ok, the most modern design is a Keith Gasifier. Here's his websites:http://woodgas.wikispaces.com/Wayne+Keithhttp://driveonwood.com/It's claimed to be 37% more efficient than ordinary gasoline.
