Casper asked me to Set this up for OR.

So, here are the details.
LOCATION: GRAND PRIX KARTING 1300 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus Ohio 43209
TEL. 614-2GO-FAST (246-3278)

I have us locked in for a group event at GP indoor on January 24; showtime is 6:30 pm, on the track at 7pm. You need to be there at 6:30 for the track briefing.

COST is $53 per person. PAY WHEN YOU GET THERE.

I would like you to post if you are for sure going. Even though we are not paying ahead, I really need people to stay committed so they can staff and plan accordingly. I would like to do something like this monthly and have a very good relationship with them. Please post here if you are going and I will start the roaster is post 2 and edit as I can.

I know this is different from the last event, $2 less. But, I caught them just after a meeting about their group rates, and I booked 3 events with them, so that may have helped. It does not matter if you have a membership; their group rate is the deal. Membership rates are for discounted sessions when you just go in with your friends and are not a group. Group is 10+ people.

So just like before, this is three lap sessions of ten minutes each. You can bring your own closed face helmet, even motorcycle helmet. It must have a visor and it must be down while racing. Or you will get yelled at the whole time, like I did; opps. I couldn't hear him.

1st session will get the times to determine lineup for next session. Then the times from that session will determine the lineup for the 3rd session. If you are the last car in your group or slowest, you are not getting 10 minutes. It goes off the first car making 10 laps. So, it’s about 10 minutes. This came up last time. I addressed it with them and the settings are set for 10 lap’s times. Once the first car hits 10, then it’s over. The system can’t cater to the slowest kart. That makes sense to me. I'm working on getting some swag from my work to reward the top 3 times for the night; T-shirts or something.

Thanks

I want to do this but am having issues with the math... $53 sounds like a lot of money for 30 minutes on a gokart.

Find it cheaper of this caliber, I challenge you. This isn't magic mountian action.

And it's bragging rights on OR.

Don't be scared to throw down like a boss, you afraid of being lapped by a midget?

I've spent a good bit of money on track days for the Bike and the car. The fun factor with the Kart was a great time. I even got more people to go back out for a forth session for another $16. It's just fun. And yup, it's pricey. I don't smoke and I'm not very good at drinking, so I'll throw some money at this Kart thing.

What kind of speed are we talking here? What motors are in these karts?

Would it really matter if they were 3hp or 10hp? It's about driving, having fun, and the spirit of completion. I've been to speeds several times when it was in columbus and it was always fun. Have not been to this venue yet.

Yes it matters. I can go to sluggers and putters and ride 5 hp carts for $5/10 min race vs almost $20 at this place so I'm looking for the experience to be more exhilarating to justify the cost. If speed didn't matter we would be racing lawn mowers or power wheels.

Guess so...I'd be down if it were cheaper but we're already in cbus on a mini trip, in a hilton, eating out every meal and hitting bars at night and another $106 on top of that kinda hurts, especially for half an hour of enjoyment. Wanted to go mostly to put faces to some of these names I've been interacting with the past 2.5 years. I'm not missing the point tho.

They are 9hp. Lodi RB9's I believe. Same karts as Cincinnati. Thy are plenty quick. I got a chance to walk the layouts last month and it looks to be very fun. OMRL banquet is there on the 25th.

Cincy pricing is a minimum $10 for 8 minutes. Normally 12-15 for 8 minutes. It's worth it!!
