Sawbinder
My 86 camaro has an issue. When I push on the brake it turns on my ear defrost and the 3rd brake light which stays on till I shut off the rear defrost . I just changed the rear brake lights. Im thinking maybe the defrost switch is bad? Anybody got any answers? Some help would be appreciated..

Sawbinder
My question is how could a wire get crossed if it just happened out of the blue? I have not done any rewiring or touched anything.
Tractor
12v common ground electrical systems are kinda neat in how they will react. Evan
Dave1647545494
its a bad ground pretty common third gen problem the third brakelight is grounding through the defrost turning it on then the defrost stays energized and it grounds through thte brakelight and makes it stay on

Tractor
I would check the ground for the wiring harness that comes out of the effected systems. Maybe even clean them good. not sure on that car if everything grounds close to the component or if it has ground wires ran to ground points. Don't rule out a harness that connects to another harness either. If the defrost and brake light wires run through the same harness its possible that corrosion has caused a short at a junction point.
