Engine swap question

How Plausible is this?

A VW VR6 engine/tranny into a 98 honda civic hatch? Say if you have both the car w/out an engine and the complete VR swap? Besides custom mounts what would be needed? Is this possible? I think It'd be badass, so much power/tq in a lightweight honda. Total sleeper. Just pondering it now.

LMK

Thanks

Matt

that would be one of those swaps where you would have to ask your self why?

Just do an h22 swap and forget about it.

Vr6's are a good motor but only worth swaping if you are going to be running alot of boost(20-35psi) on a fully built bottom.

You can swap about anything into anything if you have one of 2 things. Money or tools and skills.

Don't agree with me just look at my Toyota truck since the only 2 parts that are still stock are the body and frame.

Another thing to consider here, there is alot more involved in swapping a totally different series of engine in a front wheel drive layout. In a front engine/rear drive, it's very straight foward. Fabricate the neccessary mounts for the engine/tranny and have a custom driveshaft made to adapt to the originat rear axle. In a front/front application, you have either adapt the whole front suspension, or figure out how to drive the original hubs with the new and different tranny.

Yeah, thanks guys, I thought about it since I could get it for around 700, but its not really doable for me. I would do an H22 but I would like to retain the AC. So I will most likely do a B16.

Ricochet, where are you going to be this weekend? Geero's? I'll be out in my gti, I'd love a ride...and maybe a race. smile.gif
