Guest VBiker
Hi yall, Im new here. Im looking at a 1984 Yamaha FJ1100, 30,000 miles, kirker pipes, carbs were just synced, and rejeted = $1900. Good deal or not? I dont have a bike now and have never ridden a street bike but I have rode plenty of dirt bikes. What do ya think.
street pilot
For $1900 that thing better be in showroom condition with a ton of brand new parts. I would say keep looking unless you can talk them down several hundred. As far as the bike, keep in mind it is pretty old. Minor problems will probably creep up on you, but if you have a background in bikes you should be fine there. It will definitely have PLENTY of power for a first street bike. It may be a bit on the heavy side though. If you are tiny and poor, keep looking. If you are big and rich, go for it!
Chad is Dead
I would say no. That bike is not gonna be running very good for very long.
Guest Bearak
I'd have to agree with Chad and Brett. A bike that old COULD last quite sometime yet, but I'd feel like time is against me with something that old. I bought a '87 GSXR 750 in 1997 for $2000, and second gear went the second season I had it. Fun while it lasted though. Anything with 20k plus miles on it I'd steer clear of.
