Drivers in all convertibles must use a helmet meeting Snell 90, 95, 2000, SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2 specs. Drivers in all vehicles with glass T-tops must use a helmet meeting Snell 90, 95, 2000, SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2 specs.

Drivers in cars running 13.99 (8.59) seconds or quicker, and all dune buggy type vehicles runnning 14.00 (8.60) and slower are required to wear a helmet meeting SNELL 85, 90, 95 or SFI 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2 Specs…Effective 1/1/2002 SNELL 85 helmets will be prohibited.

A helmet is one of the first safety items that you may need to purchase. Any vehicle that runs faster than 13.99 seconds, and all motorcycles and dune buggy-type cars, must have an approved helmet. Helmets that meet NHRA requirements include those that have a SNELL approval of 90 or 95, as well as those with an SFI rating of 31.1, 31.2, 41.1, or 41.2.

Get the point? :D

HELMET RATINGS

SA Rated Helmets

Snell rated "SA" (Sports Application) professional helmets provide extreme impact resistance and higher fire protection with nomex linings and aluminum impact plates.

M Rated Helmets

Snell "M" (Motorcycle) rated helmets offer slightly less protection. (Snell rated Helmets)
