Science Abuse
I want something that I can apply to a valve cover and spray off. Scraping in all the little grooves will be a horrible PITA.
Skinner
any good paint remover will work though if the valve cover is still bolted on i would advise against it. If the valve cover currently has paint on it (more than likely its powder coated ) Best think i could/would recomend is to cleant it up ans best as possible give it a good wetsanding and make everything smooth and repaint with a good high temp paint. but Ideally i would talke the cover off. It'll be coming out, luckily its very simple. Should I use something thick like bix or something thin like Toluen? It'd be nice to have a pan big enough to do a toluene bath, and just use a toothbrush or two to get it clean.

Bgbdbn
Aircraft stripper works awesome for paint removal. Works really well on aluminum. Just dont get any on your skin.
McGraw
I hot tank things that need cleaned if the rubber survives, I feel confident about my rubber.
Tinman
I hot tank things that need cleaned if the rubber survives, I feel confident about my rubber. The acid in hot tanks eats aluminum.
McGraw
sorry I'm a complete idiot I missed the whole 'stripping paint from ALUMINUM' part. Ignore me.
ridenred27
they have a hot tank for alumnium but they dont work real well for what you are wanting to do. at least the one i used when i worked at napa. use the paint stripper in the spray can for small jobs, it is much more controlable and is alot less mess
ridenred27
also you can clean up the stripper with a rag and then rince the excess off with water.
