Man pleads guilty to his role in Pataskala pot ring

The Columbus Dispatch

A Pataskala man pleaded guilty today in federal court to conspiring to sell marijuana and failing to pay income taxes on his pot profits. Joseph P. Marasco, 42, entered the pleas in U.S. District Court in Columbus. He faces 5 to 40 years in prison and up to a $2 million fine when sentenced.

Federal authorities allege that beginning in 1997, Marasco and Robert M. Fusner, 33, of Grove City, imported marijuana that they sold in central Ohio.

The men used part of the profits to buy Capt'n Woody's Pub and Grub, a popular Buckeye Lake bar, authorities claimed.

Fusner pleaded guilty last month to the same charges and faces the same sentence as Marasco, who owned the Maximum Street Performance motorcycle shop in Hebron.

In plea agreements, each man agreed to pay $84,000 in federal income taxes that they eluded by failing to declare marijuana proceeds on their tax returns.

The men also used laundered drug money to acquire a boat and performance and luxury cars, authorities charged.

Thanks man. Looks like greatly reduced charges. They had him for drug trafficking, money laundering, etc. Looks like he took a plea deal. Wonder what his sentence was.
