2005, a year of your car.

Figured I'd try and start a thread on what your car has gone through in this past year.

I guess I'll start :)

March - Pull motor and change oil pan gasket. Put on a set of heads, valve springs, headers, 3800 stall. Ran at the track somewhat decent. Then I felt something wrong with the trans. Went to Michigan and paid $1600 for a rebuild.

Two months later, I got bored and just pissed at the car. Sold 80% of the mods on the car and swapped in a Supercharged motor. The stock stall I got from the person who I got the motor from grenaded my transmission. Not under warranty (2000 miles after rebuild).

Drove back up to Michigan and paid another $1200 on top of that for a refresh of the trans, new converter, new diff, etc.

Put on a smaller pulley and it's been like that since. I'm still battling stupid things on the car, but at least it drives.

So. what shit has your car been through in the past year. I'm sure someone out there has some interesting stories.

The 03 Cobra was sold and replaced with the Z06 in February.

The Z06 then got the cam, headers, and spray. It dynoed 400rwhp n/a and 500rwhp on a 100-shot of spray.

Raced a lot of different cars. Won more than I lost. Made a little bit of cash.

Upped the shot without a tune. BLAM! Blew a hole in one of pistons racing an R1. Given an excuse to upgrade.

Car is at IPS. Engine pulled and is being rebuilt by Jesus. 2006 is looking good.

- Installed new harness, as my old one expired.

- Got the nitrous system rewired and running again

- Fixed a couple of leaks, got the car driveable again

- Had true duals fabbed up

- Ran new best at Trails

- Blew head gasket @ Norwalk day on first nitrous pass

- Get pissed, decide to just pull the motor and spend a bunch of money. Discovered blown head gasket was due to a warped driver's side head that had to be milled down a bunch. Was most likely the cause of my last blown head gasket that I assumed was from too much timing + bad gas.

- All balancing/machine work done on my shortblock. Fully forged 383, splayed 4 bolt mains. Just need cam bearings, lifters, pushrods, custom cam, intake/waterpump gaskets, SFI balancer, and assembled. Should start on that in Janurary. May do some intake porting and a bigger TB, but buying my Avalanche hit the funds a bit. :(

2005

New longtube headers and h-pipe, 4 clutch cables, the correct mass air flow, pro 5.0 shifter, subframe connectors (Thanks for the install, Keith), rear upper control arms and bushings, ac delete, driveshaft safety loop.

2006

Remove bodykit and spoiler, repaint car, rebuild trans and replace clutch, aluminium driveshaft, bigger radiator and fan, and maybe a supercharger.

Cam, Ported the heads and intake, Rebuilt the motor, Rebuilt the 4L60e, Electric water pump, Reprogrammed the PCM, 160 thermostat, 3 1/2" cutout.

Went to Norwalk and ran a 13.40@102mph on worn out Yokohamas.

Added a set of Hooker LT and ORY, ceramic coated of course.

Went back to Norwalk and ran a 13.70@?????, I was pissed. Car wouldn't run worth a shit above 5000rpm. Put it on the trailer and went home. Haven't had time to figure what I did to make it run so bad. Hopefully I can get it running better this spring. I would like to see a 12.9? pass at Norwalk.

um, talon ran good, decided i'm goin roadracing in '06 so stripped the fast parts off the talon and sold 'em. car is still waiting to be put back together.

Bought my red laser, drove it for about 700miles before it fried a piston, just got rid of that last week or so.

Motorcycle is awaiting sale of the talon to undergo it's racebike transformation.

All the while i've pondered between gettin a Cummins truck or a WS6. This week, it's WS6.

Found the car on racingjunk.com,(feb) drove 6 hours with my buddie brian and his 7 kids, in a mini-van :o , to go get it

Looked it over real good, drove it, ran strong as hell! Found a few things i didn't like but was planning on redoing most of it!

Got it home , and so it began!

Rewired the entire car, all new switch's, relays, remote battery kit, kill switch, new big truck battery, etc...

installed msd digital 6 plus box, new plugs, etc

Changed all the fluids, added a trans cooler

Replaced the exhaust with 3" pipe and new flowmasters and a x-pipe!

Remounted all gauge's and added a few more!

Remounted the seats

installed the firewall behind the backseat!

Added long wheel stud's all around

Upgraded N2o system to big shot!

New rear tires!

changed intakes and a couple off diff carbs!

Added new fuel system just for motor, old system just for spray kit!

Chased overheating problems all year!

Head gaskets , ported heads while they where off!

Then the valve locks started wearing out and sliding up the valve's

valve springs are worn out as well!

New front runner's from turborust( thanks again)

The Acura,

Finally fixed the tranny issue it had for around two years, cost $0.

Returned it to daily driver status.

The V6 RX7,

Still working on it with the little spare time I have.

Only things left are the wiring, cooling system, fuel lines, and driveshaft.

The V8 RX7,

Got it running again.

Tranny wasn't quite right, went through it twice then sent it to Tex Racing. Turned out to be a slight clearance issue with the gear set.

Beat up on some folks on 270.

Went to Norwalk, killed the clutch first pass.

Strapped it on the dyno, had more issues than Sports Illustrated.

Tearing it down for improvements.

Plymouth:

sat most of the year.

New 3" duals, headers, crosover pipe, msd dist, 6al, wires, plugs.

#4 still wont fire, to be resolved this winter.

Festiva:

Puked #1 rod through the side of the block, might swap in the new motor this winter, pending time.

Buick:

Shatered the rings in the #8 cyl, drove it another 150 miles at a cost of 4qts oil to get it home. Ended up putting a JY special 307 in for now, instaled stand alone on it to get used to tuning FI.

Got the big block bottom end done, waiting on heads and some other parts. next summer hopefully it will be ready to start swapping in.

Drove over my driveshaft at 70 MPH, made a mess of the exhaust, but no major damage.
