What a great day!

My wife just called me at work today to tell me that our tax return came in. As of today, my wife and I are (with the exception of our house and one small bill in collections) completely debt free! With our tax return, we paid off the Contour and our living room set, and now get to live the good life with only the mortgage and monthly utilities to drag bills out of my wallet.

No lie, I can't tell you how great it feels to be in this position. Now if I can just keep my two cars on the road for a while and live with no car payments or credit cards, we should be in pretty good shape for a while.

I'll hopefully be in that spot in 5 years; by then my school loan and Avalanche should be paid off. Then just my house and bills to go.

Check this out... The same day my wife pays off her car, third gear in my truck lets go, and I need a trans rebuild. Thats my luck I guess. Yesterday went from great to bittersweet in a hurry.

I'll hopefully be in your boat in about 3-3.5 years... then I'll just have my mortgage and utilities... I just hope I don't get stupid and get the bug to buy a new car.... which I'm sure I will.

You're right, I've got a lot to be thankful for. My wife is the best, and I've got two great kids and a loving, supportive family.
