Fonzie
Since it was lost in the crash, thought I'd repost it for posterity. Everyone else feel free to add your pix &/or comments back in as well.........Bit nippily when I left my place around 7:30......looked like the frostwarning was almost validated, as it was down to high 30's. Headed downto Lima to p/u Kyle, then we slabbed it down 75 to the meat spot in Xenia witheveryone else. Made good time down there, and pulled in just past9:30......Nick & Knodel were already there. Got off the bike &my phone was blowin' up......Shiddy(Garrett) was lost nearby, andBrian(KawiKid) & Adam(Cleave the Great) were runnin' late as theyhad some early morning fog & couldn't see to make any time.Went inside to warm up & wait, as I couldn't quit shakin' for about15 minutes.....Guess 2 hours at +5 over'll do that to 'ya, even withlined pants, jacket, gloves & 2 pair of socks!! :wink:Garrett showed up shortly after, and started regaling us with somefunny stories while we waited for the other two. Bry & Adam rolledin around 10:30, and bein' the swell guys we are, we gave them awhopping 5 minutes to stretch & warm up.....Well OK....truth betold I was just getting some pictures of the bikes now that everyonewas there! :grin:Nick took the lead as we left Xenia, as he'd promised to show us somelocal backroads/twisties that he thought would save us time & getus around some of the stoplight towns. Good roads & some greatriding....It was clear early on I was the slowpoke in this group!! 'Course I found out over dinner later that K.C.'s a flat track racer.......So then I didn't feel quite so bad :grin:Anyway......Also in here somewhere is where Nick began his hourlystops.....I swear the guy needs a prostate exam, as he must have abladder the size of a cashew nut....That or he just likes to "mark" hisroute so he doesn't get lost Got back on 68 south of Wilmington & the twisties morphed into somereally nice roller coaster sweepers. One was this huge downhillstraightaway that we could see for several miles, and some of us mayhave hypothetically taken a short blast of +100 over  REALLYcool suspension bridge as we crossed over into Kentucky. Not sure whatit's called, but had we not already been runnin' late, it would've madea sweet backdrop for some pix of the bikes! Guess we'll just have to go back for Maker's Mark, Wild Turkey, or Jack Daniels next year :grin:Pulled into some small town gas station a little north of Lexington, and there was a sizeable group of sportbikes gettin ready to pull out.I thought maybe this was a KY contingent of O.R. that came out towelcome us & ride along ,but after one of them satisfied their urge to pipe us off the revlimiter, they continued on their merry way. One of the yocals who Ithink had been over talkin' to them, now decided to come over &grace US with his presence "Y'all get a wheel up on these?!?" I decided to make him useful & ask how far we were from Lex/theouter loop. "Well.....'bout 20-25 minutes, but if y'all ride like I do,y'all be there in 15" to which I replied "Well that's good, 'cause wewere just doin' 'bout 160 back there a ways" Anyways.....fumbled our way through/around Lexington & found the Bluegrass Pkwy. VERY affluent area through here......HUGEhorsefarms, and a ginormous castle I somehow missed seeing, but theguys were tellin' me about later at my roadside calisthentic session I got a major cramp in my hammy, and after repeatedly tryin' to standup & stretch it while we continued ridin', as we were already behindschedule.....I couldn't take it anymore...had to pull over &practice my kama sutra positions on the guardrail for the entertainmentof all passerby. Plus....Nick kept pullin' up next to me & tryin'to play with my a$$ What can I say....The Fonz is one sexy beeyotch to BOTH sexes.....Such is my curse in life!! This is also where Nick was ever so intently watchin' me eat my banana I had in my pack!! Finally got her stretched out....My cramp I mean.....And we proceededto Clermont. According to the lady I spoke to at JB, we should've onlybeen about a half hour away......but as I stated earlier....Kentuckymiles seem to be different than the U.S. standard. Almost missed ourturn again, as they had every distillery BUTJB marked along the highway/"Bourbon Trail". Finally pulled into JimBeams American Outpost @ 3:30. Went into the visitor center &checked out some of the exhibits, then headed out for some pix byBooker Noe's statue in front of the Beam family home..........This is one of the storage facilities next to the visitor center. Couple of the guys went in there & said it was freezin'"Santa Booker......I want a Daisy Red Rider carbine for Christmas!!"Hey Booker.....Gotta little Captain in'ya???"Came out a bit dark, but Kyle(BlitzBurgh) on the left, me, Knodel(K.C.)in front, Adam(Cleave the Great) in back, the photogenically elusiveBrian(KawiKid) sittin' on Booker's lap, and NinjaNick, with the Beamfamily home in the background. The red circles on the shutters are thewax "seal" you see on the bottles. The home serves as a museum now, and I believe that's where the tasting parlor is, but it's closed onSundays since Bourbon county doesn't allow sales that dayGarrett(ShittyGixxer) on left, with the visitor center in the backgroundPretty sweet old Mack, Jim Beam firetruck I found in the garage out back.......Stayed for about an hour past closing, by the time we were done withpix & walkin' around explorin'. Really....We were just hopin' toget locked in there overnight!! Edited November 6, 2008 by Fonzie
Fonzie
PART 2.....Had to break into 2 posts, as site limit is 10,000 characters per.........Made another pit stop right after we left JB, as Nick had dehydratedhimself, what with all that peein' he did on the way down! :lol:Cooledoff with some ice cream & listened to some yocal tell Shiddy VERYloudly what rims NOT to buy for his bike because of the problems he'dhad with his....blah, blah, blah, and watched some hottie in hot pantswith some preppy tool in a gay pink golf shirt with flip up collar, emojeans & big white girly sunglasses.....Oh wait....That sounds likepix I've seen of some on here!! :grin:Decided to slab back home, and started headin' for Louisville, thenCincy. Beautiful weather down here all afternoon....Sunny & mid80's, as well as beautiful scenery/fall colors! Some more nice longsweepers through the mountains where speeds may or may not have brushed triple digits. Had to pull off for another NickStop (our version of a pitstop ) which somehow turned into a political debate on the side of theexpressway offramp. Wish I'd of gotten my camera out, as Shiddy's stillon his bike, with it leaned against/over the guardrail, andlooks like he's about to fall asleep....Even though he's already dranklike 4 Monster's so far. Not exactly a rousing product endorsement ifyou ask me! We decide to get as far as we can while it's still light, beforestopping to eat, and as everybody's gearin' back up & Kyle'swalkin' back to his bike, he keeps stoppin' to turn & thow in onemore point....then another....then another Only the DTC would have a political debate along the side of an expressway onramp in Kentucky! Good thing Justin didn't cum this trip, or we'd still be down there! Stopped at the TumbleWeed in Florence for dinner.....Home of the mostmonotone/unenthusiastic waitress ever. Nick, & I think someoneelse, tried the buffalo meat burger, while I savored a pretty goodpeppercorn ranch one. I made the observation that us 3 big guys werethe only ones who cleaned our plates....Which is probably why we got to be the three big guys!! Nick also entertained us with some VERY....ummmm...errrmmmm....interesting...yeah, that's it....interesting dinnertime conversation/stories from his single days Tried to get a couple night time group shots at the restaurant, but I think the lights were messin' with my focus......Split up right after we crossed the river.....Shiddy, Brian & Beavall made a break for 71 towards Columbus, while the rest of uscontinued north. Made another "Nickstop" just south of Dayton....Nicething about all his stops is that my tank never got below half all day! We're BS'in about the day, Kyle was updatin' us on football scores, etc.....Then Mrs. Ninja called crackin' the whip Hugs & kisses & little Nicky's gotta GO....NOW!!Knodel stayed with us, as he was headin' for Troy, Kyle peeled offsouth of Lima.....And then there was just me again. No more stops forthe last 120 miles, even though I had intended to gas up when Kyle gotoff. I believe there comes a time in every long ride when you justwanna get it over with, and I just couldn't bear the thought ofstopping one more time. Reserve light came on just south of Findlay, and I coasted into the garage on fumes. My throttle hand was a claw asI started up the offramp....I could barely open it to pull the frontbrake. Just shy of 670 miles for the day...Personal record for me. Got to meat4 more cool people & spend one of the last gorgeous days of theyear havin' fun with buddies on our favorite toys, and everyone gothome safe.....Can't ask for anything better than that!! Forgot to mention one of my favorite quotes of the day. As we somewhat knowingly rode by the unmarked exit for JB, and Nick & I are shrugging our shoulders at each other thinkin' that HAS TO be the one....He asks me in the emergency turnaround..."So is this why we call it the dysfunctional traveling circus???" Indubitably my brother....indubitably....But who has more fun gettin' there?!?
