Sparky
I would suggest staying away from 94-95 cobras also. You can buy a gt for less and the differences are minimal. The 96-98 cobras are nice because of their engine 305hp vs 240hp for the 94-95 cobras.
Amy
THEY WANT 8 GRAND!! Holy hell thats insane! That car is no where at all worth eight grand with 130k miles on it.... Dude, call me if you have any questions on 98 (or call Joe's cell) The 98s didnt really have a ton of issues for a stock little car. (GT's at least) Is this car a Cobra or GT? Plus whatever other mods you'd want to upgrade it with the left over cash.
Dr. Apex
Other than the motor is there any difference from a GT to a Cobra?? Suspension changes maybe?? Don't forget my SN, this will be a car that will be used for autox and track days, not drag.
y2k2gt
99-03 cobras have irs
ICEMAN1647545504
The 94-95 Cobras have bigger injectors than the GT's (24lbs vs 19lbs), have a 327 gear in the rear end (GT's have 308's), better upper and lover intake, better heads GT40's and 1.7 roller rockers, bigger MAF bigger throttle body (i think), better transmission (World Class T5), Cobra front bumper and few other things i'm forgetting... The cobra is a good platform to start with... with very small mods, it's fairly easy to get to 300 whp with a good tune... you might need a cam, cold air, K&N, exhaust... if you want more power, slap on a supercharger... they are cheep for this year cobra and will handle more power than the stock 96-04 GT's and 96-01 Cobras... The rods in the mod motors are questionable after 400whp... but yet again the block on the 94-95 has a limit after 500whp... some people have made a lot more power on either engine though... but some have not... and picked up engine parts of the road... the 94-95 Cobra and GT will be an easier car to mod and a cheaper car to mod... Plus the aftermarket is large and relatively cheaper for the 5.0L engines... I would stay away from 96-98 4.6L GT's... The 4 cam 96-98 Cobras are nice... 99+ gt's are nice... 94-95 GT and Cobras are nice... Just my .02...
Kevin R.
It will be so much easier to find a REALLY nice 94-95 GT for around 8k than a nice Cobra. A nice 94-95 Cobra is going to cost some bank. My $0.02.
