Playing motorcycle inside

So I don't like the look of the back fender on the ZZR, so I modified it! I shortened the turn signals, moved the license plate, and chopped the big ass fender off.

The problem (& solution): Problem on the right, solution on the left

Get under the fender and loosen the 10mm nut holding the signal and reflector on

My reflector isn't there because I've already done the next few steps, but normally its like

PHOT0010.jpg

Okay, now slide the stem extension off

Now we want to cut off the little tube that sticks off that guy

make it look like

PHOT0025.jpg

Set that aside, get your reflector. Now cut the reflector bracket like so

Put your signal back on without the stem extension

Now put your stem extension on from the inside, secure it with your new bracket and the 8mm nut you took off. Right side is finished:

Put your bike back together!

Part two:

I already did my practice cut, but I just wanted to show how it was stock:

So here is my practice cut:

The "real" cut:

I used "s-curve" stencils to get the shape I wanted, but it didn't come out quite as well as I hoped:

So I added some automotive "door edge guard", I think it looks quite nice like this:

Finished!

oh yeah, and I moved the license plate bracket at some point in there

:edit oh.. and ignore the date on all these pictures! lol I always forget to set that

i always prefer no fender, but for what you did, it looks really good.

I too prefer the look of no fender, but I use this bike to commute and therefore I ride a lot. I wanted to stay with the stock signals for safety, and there wasn't any better way to mount them.... so I ended up with this. I'm very happy with it though, I'll post some pictures when I get it on the bike too
