What a good time today was. Rain stayed away (leaving many people unguarded against sunburn haha), temps were just right, it was a blast. Plus, I got my first trophy! It was cool meeting more new people, too. Here's hoping events 2 and 3 get moved to a decent date so I can attend them.

Good time today. I liked the track as I could put down the power in a few areas and have some fun, I had hoped the rear would slide a little more but it wants to hop instead!! Time to get some things on the car to help that out.

Nothing that time and money won't cure!

Really like your car. I love the color and the wheels, and the interior looks nice.

Thanks Rich. I was stoked when the dealer called and said he found the Sonic Blue, it's the ideal color scheme I wanted and the car has realtively low miles. Subframe connecters are on their way, next will be the rear grip pack that replaces the panhard and some things, it's supposed to help out a lot.

It was definitely a good time - nice meeting everyone in person for the first time too.

+1. Im addicted, now if I could just figure out how to drive my car a little better!

Mrautox, I was taking pics the first heat but unfortunately none of your car turned out well at all. Hopefully I can get some at the next few meets.

I'll try to make the next local meets on campus and would be happy to help with the pic taking. Key to panning is it just takes practice. A nice 1/160th to 1/200 shutter speed is perfect.

Sounds good! I would've loved to have had more time practicing, but someone conned me into driving :)

I'll post up some pics that one of my friends took while we were on the course. I'm just cutting them down from 800 -> 170, and then doing some color correction on a few.

Sweet! Ill get up a few of my good ones.

Heres just a few. I really sucked up the panning shots, just need some more practice.

Don't be hard on yourself. Panning takes practice. If you have a lens with Stabilization that supports panning mode, make sure it's engaged. If it doesn't support mode 2, turn it off. If it doesn't have it at all, a monopod will help. Especially since ideally you want slower shutter speeds of say 1/160-1/200. Even slower if you can keep it still works awesome.

Check your metering too. Make sure you keep the exposure in line. A nice way to do it when panning is to set the camera to focus with the * button or Dedicated AutoFocus button if you have one. Then set the shutter for metering. This way as you pan across a scene tracking a car, if glare or exposure/lighting changes, the camera will too. Otherwise, your exposure is locked onto the car when you first depress the button.

I'll be happy to help at the next meet. I'll make a local turnout when the meet is there. Promise to be careful and you can use one of my lenses. I have the 100-400L and 70-200L and may have a new toy by the next event. :D

Sucks that Reddy left before our heat. I was hoping to see his pictures on top of the ones already available.

Actually, I did not leave but I was running third heat.

Bill got some nice photos of the third heat though.
