Science Abuse
right, i should have known that considering all the other "Uhren" based names I haven't seen it as much as one would think. Switzerland has no language of its own, and German is one of the official ones, as well as french. It seems you're more likely to find French on a swiss watch than German, so most Uhren Fabrik are/were German, like older Hanharts or Glashutte. Veritas
glad to see it showed up Bob, it looks HOT! BTW, love the pics. I tried taking close ups of my Carrera with Andy's camera and couldn't get crap to come out right, may have to hit you up for some close-ups of it. ....and yes....people still drop serious coin on watches. If you take care of them they last pretty much indefinitely. I full on intend for some of my watches to be passed down thru my family. Thanks for the idea man, I've been trying to think of something I can get now that my family will HOPEFULLY keep in the family line for years to come and something like this would work pretty damn well. I'm a total watch fiend, have been since I was little. This is a very, very nice watch. You can tell the craftsmanship by the intricacy's of every little detail he showed. Jeez I need a towel. Diamonds
It is a great idea. nothing lasts through a family like a timpiece. i'd reccomend Breitling and a few others. get soemthing that wont have a dates style. something nice and traditional. Science Abuse
Another family oldie: http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/3097/accutron.jpg Bulova Accutron, circa 1966'ish. Interesting story behind this one; it was the most cutting edge, state of the art, top of the line time piece you could by... for about ten years, which is the blink of an eye in watch-history. It's got a "tuning fork", that vibrates at X frequency when those copper wound coils get a charge. This is a constant rate, and the movement is based off of that frequency. When they came out, they were the most accurate watches you could buy, everyone who had a professional need for accurate timekeeping had one, they were issued by numerous militaries. The clocks on board the lunar spacecraft were powered by Accutron moments (though the astronauts wore mechanical Omega's) And then the Quartz movement debuted and made them obsolete. More accurately, it made their cost obsolete. The Quartz did it better and cheaper.

Honestly I'm not typically a fan of thier's, but this one caught my eye and I got a hell of a deal on it. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51RHm1llGTL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Diamonds
My big beef with invicta is that they claim outrageous MSRP's but then retailers price them at 1/10 their MSRP... When's the last time someone paid 1,000.00 for a "1000.00 dollar invicta".... they most likely paid 100.00 - 120.00.. remember, MSRP is a number pulled from thin air. My point is this, invicta says its an expensive watch... but no one has ever paid the big ticket price. PS - Worth is defined as "what someone else is willing to pay for it" not what you bought it for or what the ticket price is.
Akula
Is that one of those gajillion dollar watches that has to be rolled forward for months that don't have 31 days?

As much as I dislike the company I couldn't pass up a nice looking skeleton automatic watch at that price.

Rotarded1647545491
I have several Invictas and have been very pleased with the product. For the money, you can't beat them. The quality, fit, and finish are FAR beyond what you would expect for the price. I have beaten the hell out of my Grand Diver almost daily for over a year and it still looks new. Try that with a Timex? Invicta is soon going to use the name on only the high end watches. They will have another name for their under $1000 (actual, not MSRP price). I don't look at MSRP for ANYTHING. Hell, I don't pay retail for anything.
