For the sake of argument, it's finish "line", not finish "area". Touchdowns count at the line, not out the back of the endzone. Goals count when the ball (or puck) cross the line, not when they hit the net. So yes, I believe he did indeed win, and they gave him the ribbon when he regained consciousness.

Well....soccer goals don't count until the entire ball crosses the line. So if the soccer ball was in a race, it would have crossed the line but not finished the race. Just sayin...for the sake of arguement :)
