HVAC people, I need your help

So this copper pipe is leaking. Looks like it's leaking from the valve. I can tell you it runs to the a/c outside, but beyond that I have no idea. It seems to be leaking water though, which makes no sense in my mind. Whatever it is, it's rusting and makes a small puddle on the ledge of the furnace.

 

A) What is it?

 

B) How much will you charge me to come fix the damn thing?

That's what I thought, but that much of it? What do I do to keep it from rusting the thing to shit?

not sure mine is directly over the concert floor right next to my floor drain. lay a towel down over that area and replace it once a week or as needed.

I don't think it's just condensation. It seems to be coming out of the valve.

I'm not an HVAC guy, but that would appear to be the hp line connecting to the a-coil.

There's no water in that pipe lol, but the line is wrapped to help keep the it cold while on it's way from the outside compressor to the a-coil.

I think condensation is normal, but theres usually some sort of drip pan IIRC..?

its probably low on refrigerant and the a-coil (evaporator) is freezing up and then thawing when the system shuts off and running all over the floor.

 

have someone come out and check all the pressures and put some dye in it

Do you have cat's and dog's ? your A-coil could be plugged up with hair .. or the condensate drain pan could be plugged

In the picture the PVC on the floor where is that going? Is it the drain? (Looks big for the drain)

 

Need to open the unit up and check the pan, and the inlet for the drain pipe before you call someone.
